  1. Get some better entertainment like name stars and some guest speakers. Also I would like more experimentation with cuisine and allow chefs to have more creativity with menus and also I would like a priest on board for those of us who wish to attend mass. I am harking back to my first TA on Jewel of the Seas where we had a priest, wonderful guest speaker who's poke about all the ports histories and guest entertainers who were outstanding and chef who tried out new menus. as you can tell this was my favourite cruise and I am headed on another spring TA with Celebrity so we will see .

  2. People cruise on X from all over the world. How are they to know when our spring break is ? In California it seems winter break goes in to spring break. It is X who advertise Modern Luxury. Enforce the conduct rules you make. That is what we all want.

Could not agree more.i see all kinds of liability issues here and thank goodness no one was severely injured by this behaviour. I also think that the beverage package is the main attraction. I have 3 sons at this age and would hope that they have been taught to respect others including other pax and crew members. It's up to Celebrity to enforce the rules and set standards.

  3. Actually when we were on our first Celebrity cruise last summer on Silouhette we were impressed by the way we were treated on the last day especially in the buffet where the staff came around with coffee and spoke with us and in our cabin I was expecting to be rushed out but the attendant came by and chatted with us. There was an incident in the ladies where someone was sick and had left a mess and the staff worked so hard to freshen up the area and then apologized to us for our having to wait while she cleaned. Very impressed with this and never was treated better on last day in 9 previous cruises on RCI, Princess( where we always felt rushed and not only on last day) HAL and others. Decided then and there I loved Celebrity and went home to book another cruise, just my experience.

  4. Does chocie air allow you ,for a fee of course, to book flights that are a couple of days before the cruise and a couple of days after a cruise when flying to Europe?

I booked 4 days after cruise so we could spend time in Rome and take some day trips.

  5. I had a wide choice of airlines and times, found an afternoon flight . Last year I booked Air Transat and liked it but there was no Sunday flights and I thought I would try CA. Also I figured I am cutting it close as I need flight in late April. I had been lurking on the CA site for a couple of months and saw better deals early on. We'll see how it plays out but I always book airfare online and generally have no issues. Only thing with this flight was I was unable to get seat selection on AC from Frankfurt and I am not friends with flying and need seats together.

  6. If you book your own air on choiceair.com, you pick your own flights. I'm booked Phoenix to Barcelona in October. I had a choice of about 40 flights. I picked the one with the best flight times for a reasonable price. I chose Delta. $517 p.p. on choice air, $2300 p.p. through Delta or any of the other travel sites such as Orbitz, and Travelocity. Once I got my Delta booking number, I went to delta.com and hand picked my seats. This is the sixth time I used choiceair.com for one way transatlantics and so far I giver them an A+. I know of several people who have used choice air and everybody swears by them.

This is good to hear as I just booked return from Rome on a TA. I received confirmation but no flight number yet and was wondering when that would be sent. The price was 435 with a layover in Frankfurt.

  7. Which excursion are you recommending? I'm not sure what you mean by this one.

    Thanks!

It was a full day tour to Sorrento, Positano and the Amalfi coast with lunch outside Positano. We did not go to Capri, just the coast and stopped in Sorrento and Amalfi . Amalfi is really beautiful. I don't have the brochure but it was fairly expensive and my husband didn't want to splurge but after he said it was fabulous and the tour guide was interesting and really delved into the history of Naples and the area. The bus travels quite high along the edge of the coast and it is thrilling.

  8. Do this one with lunch. We were on the Silhouette last summer and it was the best excursion I have ever done in 8 cruises. The lunch alone was worth the price. We had salads , decanters of wine on the table, veal, chicken, contorni( vegetables grilled) , best coffe ever and limoncello cake to finish, the setting in the side of the Amalfi coast. Just beautiful.

  9. I also would like more vegetables and I loved the babas au rum on Royal, would love Yorkshire pudding. On our last transatlantic with Royal the chef was trying new menus and we loved it. We had British cheeses and pub food for starters. Next night it was French cuisine and we had to give our opinions. I don't know if they implemented the new menus but it was to be part of a taste testing group.

We liked the food on the Silouhette last summer but the deserts were average.

  10. We sailed on Niew Amsterdam and liked Hal's fresh grilled salmon in their oceanview every day and also the movie theatre with popcorn. We also loved the bread and room service breakfast with lovely baked goods and fresh orange juice. We found her a bit quiet in the evenings but the crew were very friendly .

One thing I noticed was the noise of the ship moving which I never experienced on Royal, Princess or Celebrity. We prefer Celebrity overall because the atmosphere is elegant and the staff were friendly. We also loved the solarium on the Silhouette.

  11. We are in Rome for a few days after our TA and I have seen a good price on flights for April 25 Liberation Day. However am worried about getting to the airport on time. Just wondering if I should fly out on the next day which is Sunday and flights are higher. Anyone been in Rome on this day?

  12. Our first four cruises were Inside cabins and we were very happy with them. We never missed the daylight (in fact DW found the darkness conducive to sleep and rest). Then for our fifth ocean cruise we got a good deal on a balcony, and we were corrupted for life. We love the daylight (DW manages to sleep with the curtain drawn), and DW especially loves to spend time out on the balcony in the afternoon or early evening [me, I still prefer Air Conditioning ;)].

So be very very careful about upgrading from your Inside cabins. It can be very expensive!

Love your pictures of Santiago ,amazing . Were there 5 years ago and I have always wanted to do the Camino!

  13. Nope that's how we manage to cruise. Last year we booked a guarantee 12 night inside cabins on Silhouette for a very good price, did't have beverage package ,used bar set up and frequented Captains Club events. Five years ago booked a TA on Royal for unheard of price of $500 and got to be in Bermuda overnight and had 4 other stops in Spain, Portugal,France and England, one of our best cruises ever. I think the cruise in the spring will probably be our last as prices are climbing for Europe and I love a deal.
