  1. Does anyone know if there will be any services/ashes provided on Equinox for Ash Wednesday, February 18? Or should I try to find a church in Barbados?

    Thanks!

I would not think they would have anything but it would be nice, wouldn't it? I hope you can find a church in Barbados for ashes. When we were on our 12day in Europe I could not seen

M to find a church open during port times for mass. Maybe I will have better luck on our TA in the spring to Rome, was surprised in Europe that churches were either closed or mass was infrequent. Saw some beautiful churches though.

  3. Sorry if this has been covered before. We will be on millennium in June. Are there Sunday Services on board? Any Catholic Masses or just non denominational?

    Thank you!

No masses when I was on in June but I would love to have priests inboard. When I was on Holland America they had mass daily and Royal had mass on our TA to England a few years ago. I don't see why they won't provide this service for those who are Catholic. Maybe if we started requesting them they would offer priests.

  4. No these are much better . I don't know why but they really did the job and we had half the cruise left and I was able to carry on without pain. They are triangular in shape and I took one every morning. I had no ill effects after, wish we had them here.

  5. I went through this last June on a12dauy cruise where my back went into spasms before the cruise, chose to go and I don't generally go around pushing drugs but we went into a pharmacy in Athens where I was in pain and she gave me Voltaren pills and I never had any more issues. I am a Canuck and tried to get them here and was told they are not available. I would not have missed that trip for the world, bought some good support sandals there and rested frequently , also ship excursions were a Godsend ,just stop frequently, take a taxi now and then and enjoy, hope this helps!

  6. I have sailed on both and prefer the Silhouette. We loved the food and drinks on NA but the Sili blows it away as far as design and general experience. The staff are wonderful and we were select members from RCI so the perks were ver nice, captains party, laundry special, wine tasting and upgrade made it special for us. Celebrity offers cold drinks and col towels after a day in port and there wasn't anything we didn't like for 13 days. NA was less special ,pools shut down after supper , and we noticed that sailing time was shortened on ports, big no o for us, not so with Celebrity. We are booked on second cruise with them so we'll see if our happiness continues, thanks.

  7. Exactly. I don't know why Celebrity would not be accommodating ( regardless of what your Captain's Club status is). A smart Celeb agent would give you the upgrade without any questions, it's easier than canceling and rebooking you again. All that wasted time. I like the money in my pocket and watch the prices very closely. I don't care if they reduce my cabin cost or give me OBC.

Hi I got the upgrade today!

  8. Hi I have booked an inside guarentee very early for a TA cruise. Is aw today that an Oceanview was the same price as my guarentee so I called my agent . She called Celebrity and they said that the ocean view was higher price than what was on the web site and said I couldn't have it. Also I mentioned that we are select with them, didn't seem to cut any ice. I booked this in June and was hoping I would get a better deal. I guess they don't care about early bookings or select members. I was just hoping for an upgrade.

  9. Thank you for your comment.

Yes, I think this trip has left a very deep impression on them. They keep talking about it. I am busy arranging my pictures and videos for easy reference. I hope when they are grown, they will look back at cruises like these and remember the times.

Thank you for posting! This brings back a lot of happy memories of when we sailed from Rome in June.it was so hot then!

  10. Or the OP found out what kind of nasty people cruise on Celebrity and decided not to book.

You missed some very cruel and nasty posts early in this thread. Thankfully they were removed but I'm sure the OP saw them before they were.

We'll maybe we are helping the OP avoid a bad situation. I was on the Silhouette this summer and some parents decided to bring their young son into the solarium. The next thing I knew a staff member swiftly told them they had to leave. They were livid. The next day back in the solarium they were back with the child. The staff member went to the Captain and he arrived and called the young boy over angrily and asked him if he had read the rules. They left. I was impressed with the way the rules were enforced by senior staff .

  11. So far for DH and I we have still been able to get very good prices for the Royal cruises we have taken. Since you did cruise Celebrity....just give me a little idea of the difference in the entertainment on board as well as the difference in activities available to do on the ship.

Well we were select members on our first Celebrty cruise and it was great. Went to Captains party and I was wowed by food, drinks and entertainment.the captain and crew were very friendly and accessible, had a great jazz group at this ,cosmos, apple martins that were out of this world. celebrity is quieter, they had a group in the atrium and there was dancing but they don't place as much emphasis on this as Royal. Our cruise was ver port intensive so we did't attend all the shows, 10 ports in 12 days, exhausting!they have wonderful areas for relaxing on Silouhette , games room, library where you can get good coffee, those a toy table raved about the entertainment and they went every night. Royal just seems to place more emphasis on music, just my opinion. We are on a TA this year and maybe we will feel differently with 7 days at sea . I think they place more emphasis on relaxation. Just a side note when we were in their solarium ,adults only,a young boy about 10 came in and dived in the water. Next thing we knew staff was telling him to get out and the parents were reprimanded, next day I saw the captain call the boy over and give him an earful, really impressed me that a senior crew member would take steps to enforce the rules. Parents were livid.

  12. I used to be a huge fan of Royal until prices went up and decided to try Celebrity,am very pleased with the lower price paid and the value for money , have another one booked with them. That said I absolutely loved the Radiance class and entertainment on Royal. I would like to see more ships in the smaller class and lower prices. I scored a 12 day Med cruise this summer for less than a 7 day one on Royal.just my thoughts..

  13. It doesn't make sense to go into Rome to take the train to Siena if you're starting from Civitavecchia; from there you'd head north by train to Grosetto, where you'd change to a train for Siena.

The most sensible order of the cities would probably depend on what airport you'll be leaving from afterwards.

We are staying for a few days in Rome but I can't get a flight until the Friday after so I thought of travelling around the north and flying home from Rome,

Thanks so much! My knee just went out and I sure hope I can get around the way I want to, if you know what I mean. Kathi

  15. We are the spring TA and would like to visit these towns and stay for 1or 2nights after Rome. Any suggestions for accommodation would be welcome. We stayed in a convent in Rome and loved it so perhaps would like to stay in them in these cities, found convents very good value for money, would help to extend our trip if you know what I mean...

  16. Hello,

    Pretty new here!

We cruised for the first time last winter booking with a TA, didn't get any OBC from her, but it seems to me that many cruisers here being from the US can get a lot from a TA.

Is it just that canadians TAs don't have the same opportunity from cruise lines to offer them to their clients or we have just been unlucky with our TA?

    Your opinion, Canadians?

    Thanks,

    Josée

Hip go online to American companies and I can't say which ones but I pay less and get on board credits.
