  1. A little birthday card from our Butler for my Mom. He originally said he wouldn’t do anything, but I know for sure other Butlers did. She’s been celebrated to the max so it’s no big deal. He’s been fine. We ordered cappuccinos the first morning and then he reminded us we had our own nespresso machine and that kind of set a wrong note… but he could have been trying to be helpful. He hasn’t really done anything we haven’t asked, but has been quick to do anything we ask. We aren’t great “askers” so we haven’t really interacted with him all that much. I will say some of the other Butler's have been super lovely. The MaitreD and the waitstaff have all been lovely.
  2. Dinner was lovely! We did the pesto pasta and the cioppino for starters then the chicken Kiev for mains. Snuck away for the sunset but clouds just coveted the skyline. Chocolate soufflé and rum cake for dessert. (Eaten before pics) We seemed to have the dream team for waiters with Law, Joseph, and John… (supposedly a chef and fitness trainer—according to the Maitre D).
  3. Getting home was a bit of a cluster. We walked up the Horseshoe Bay hill and I looked past the 7 dollar taxi vans with longing, but we had bus passes darn it and we were going to use them. After about 35 minutes, the first bus came but the driver claimed he was not the correct bus. Finally, the right bus came and it was packed. It let off two people so it would only let on two people. We argued with the bus driver to at least let on the poor local women who had been waiting with us and had to go to work! I called it at that point and we started walking back down the hill to those enticing seven dollar vans. One drove by as I was a quarter of the way back down the hill and I started waving like a crazy person and they pulled over. I guess another couple wanted to go to a different beach and hopped out so we could hop on. After that, the trip home was uneventful and we came straight back to the top deck for something boozy caffeinated.
  4. Yes, I think so. We didn’t do the Crystal Caves but I believe they’re close! She jumped last time she was here 5 years ago but this time she took the much more treacherous path where you are supposed to go out. I think jumping would have been easier but she said she had already checked that off her list.
  5. A swizzle at the Swizzle Inn. Cathedral Cave, Blue Hole, and the Swizzle Inn are all walkable to each other.
  6. Ok. We’re on the bus from St. George to the caves and then after that we’re going to make our way to the beach! Maybe we’ll see you there! Good to know we can just take the bus back.
  7. Transportation: The information center at the port sells day passes for public transportation for 19 each. That being said, if you get outside of the port area and go to a post office, you can buy the local zone 14, 15 token passes for 37 and then share it and use it the whole time you’re there. Don’t wait in line at the Tourist information on your first day. I recommended just getting in line for the ferry and paying 5 dollars cash to get on the ferry the first day and then buying the local token passes while you’re away from Port. The tokens are good for 1 ferry ride or 1 bus ride all over the island and don’t expire! You also skip the big line at Port on the first day!
  8. Breakfast on the top deck. Joseph quickly got us cappuccinos and it was so lovely I forgot to take pictures! We grabbed extra waters for our adventure today and headed out. We didn’t bring enough yesterday!
  9. Back on the ferry to St. George to eventually make our way back to the caves! Wish us luck!
  10. I think we’re heading there today. How did you get there? By bus?
  11. I have some transportation tips that I’ll get into before we sign off!
  12. George Casey, Irish comedian. Super fun. Half the audience of the same demographic walked out halfway, but they’ve walked out half way through almost every show so I don’t think it’s specific to the comedian. “The women who gains a few extra pounds lives a lot longer than the man who mentions it”.
  13. We had a wonderful waiter this time. Law, from East India. He recommended a beautiful Chilean red and after that we asked him to make all the decisions. He basically gave us a tasting menu. Asparagus soup, beef consumed faux grais, shrimp cocktail, the surf and Turf, and the “unhealthy” gnocchi… cherry jubilee, affogato, and baked Alaska. It was a super fun dinner. Highly recommend Law!
  14. Pre sunset, post shower, pre dinner balcony chill. Audiobook: “The Summer I Turned Pretty”. This may have put me over the chicklit edge. 🙄. I’m going to finish it but seriously.
  15. Bon Voyage, Mariner! Ive always thought Mariner seems like a nice boat. All the fun things, but not quite as big as the Oasis Class. I’ve never sailed her though.
  16. Apparently, there’s a beach club on the opposite side of the Fort that all the cruise staff go to to party. Might be a fun time for anyone who can stay up later than me. AND there’s a big street festival in Hamilton. I need to take a nap!
  17. Ahh shoot we debated walking over there to look for Seaglass but we were scared off by the St Regis and whether we should try to catch the 2:00 ferry back.
  18. Deep couch sitting. Getting in some quality book time. Reading hotel Nantucket, I like the occasional chick lit as the break from my usual British mysteries. I read a lot of international news so when I read for fun I’m not very sophisticated. Send me your drink suggestions!!! I’m not a huge drinker normally but I’m trying to do my part this cruise. For cocktails, I tend to like tart and fruity but necessarily super sweet. I like gin… That being said as long as it doesn’t have bourbon, I’m down for trying it.
