  1. It was the late show Spirits as is custom had no entertainment during showtime so my guess - drinking on their balconies (lots are doing that) or in bed watching movies. Mosaic was empty as well

Hoo boy, sounds like fun. Just canceled 6 future cruises on Azamara and substituted 4 on Robin's back up line. Not just because of entertainment but because of the overall downgrade of the product over the past three or four years as prices have increased. Azamara offers some interesting itineraries and great officers and crew so we still sail on them but more selectively.

  2. This is how Spirits on Journey now looks with its pod removing our favourite sofas when with a group. Personally I think they’ve really spoilt Spirits. Won’t be there tonight as entertainment is only in the Living Room with a new group that joined today

That is horrible. And that e-gambling screen in the casino area is also horrible. Boarding April 8 and have multiple bookings on all 3 ships and am now questioning those.

  3. I have just booked a Celebrity charter cruise and it's purely for the entertainment onboard. It's a Music and Culture cruise with exclusive private access to Bilbao's Guggenheim Museum and an evening event there. Kind of like an Azamazing Evening.

As for the entertainment on the cruise well I don't think mezzo soprano Katharine Jenkins, tenors Alfie Boe and Wynne Evans, cellist Julian Lloyd Webber, The National Symphony Orchestra, The Celtic Tenors, Mirusia (Andre Rieu's principal singer), West End star Ruthie Henshall and The Jonathan Welch Choir can be beaten in terms of onboard entertainment!

    Pretty impressive line up.

  4. There are likely to be many more fans for lines such as Celebrity, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Oceania given that they all have many more ships, so a lot more people will have cruised with them than have cruised on Azamara’s 2 current ships.

Crystal has a very devoted passenger base.

  5. We are booked in aft cabin 6093 for Venice to Barcelona 8/26/18 and excited to have an aft cabin, except I keep hearing about soot issues. Has anyone stayed in this cabin or one above and had a problem with this?

Yes. Caribbean cruise Quest 5 or 6 years ago. Soot present but no big deal. Vibration was pretty bad all ahead full. Rattled cabin.

  6. :eek::eek::eek:

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it may have been along similar lines to a problem I have encountered while looking at options for Shore Excursions later in the year.

One wonders how the following, copied & pasted from Shore Excursion Brochures can be allowed to happen :

    Azamara Journey 6 October 2018

Shore Excursion Brochure includes the following from Livorno (a six & a half hour drive from Livorno to Amalfi)

    IF02 Excavations of Pompeii Strenuous N/A Oct 7, 8:30am 5 hrs 30mins

IF29 Walking through Amalfi Lemons and Tasting Strenuous N/A Oct 7, 9:00am 2 hrs 30mins

IF07 Positano On Your Own Transfer by Motorboat Moderate N/A Oct 7, 8:30am 4 hrs 30mins

IF24 Mozzarella from Farm to Table Mild N/A Oct 7, 8:30am 5 hrs

Azamara Journey on 15 October 2018

Shore Excursion Brochure includes the following from Valencia, Spain (to locations in Italy)

    RV07 Ferrari Museum Mild N/A Oct 17, 9:00am 6 hrs

    RV04 Bologna in Depth Strenuous N/A Oct 17, 8:45am 7 hrs

    RV12 Faenza and Brisighella Moderate N/A Oct 17, 9:15am 6 hrs

The following from Seville, Spain (all to locations in Malta)

VT21 Naxxar and Mdina: Palaces, Cathedrals & Gardens Strenuous Oct 21, 8:30am 4 hrs

VT22 Jewels of the Maltese Capital Strenuous N/A Oct 21, 8:30am 4 hrs

    VT34 Malta Panorama Mild N/A Oct 21, 8:30am

VT1G Maltese Food and Wine Tour Moderate N/A Oct 21, 8:30am 8 hrs

VT2G Salt Pans, Local Artisans and Traditional Games Moderate N/A Oct 21, 8:30am 8 hrs

VT92 Bike Ride Through Valletta Strenuous Oct 21, 8:30am 3 hrs

On the Sea Day before the end of the cruise, excursions which I believe depart from Trapani, Sicily.

    XT01 Beautiful Segesta Strenuous N/A Oct 22, 8:30am 4 hrs

    XT03 History and Wine of Marsala Moderate N/A Oct 22, 8:30am 4 hrs 30mins

    XT02 Ruins of Selinunte Strenuous N/A Oct 22, 8:30am 4 hrs 30mins

    XT05 Erice & Trapani with Cannoli Tasting Strenuous N/A Oct 22, 8:30am 4 hrs 30mins

While the discrepancies in these listings are obvious to me, I can't help wondering whether those excursions that look genuine for the ports listed are in fact correct.

  7. You could not make this up!

I have just had notification that the embarkation for 8 April cruise is embarking at the Singapore Cruise Centre. (I’m back to back). This cruise was I thought to Dubai however my email tells me it’s from Singapore to Abu Dhabi........ don’t they proofread anything!

PS there are references to Dubai elsewhere in the email so I’m sure we are going to disembark there

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I received the Singapore to Abu Dhabi email as well. The email declared SCC as the embarkation port and also stated visa requirements and warned that the India e-visa is not accepted in Mumbai. Apparently intended for UK as a link to a UK website was provided for the visa. Then 10 minutes later a second e-mail correcting the disembarkation port to Dubai, deleting the port info in Singapore, no mention of the Mumbai caveat, and directing to a different website for the India visa. Odd.

  8. Thanks to all of you for your replies. I was able to change our flight to 11:40 am. Anything leaving after 12 noon doesn't get into Cleveland until after 10 pm. With luggage to collect and an hour drive home, we wouldn't get home until after midnight.

    Thanks,

    Kathy

Much safer. Now you can relax a little.

  9. We are sailing to Cuba on Azamara Quest in March, round trip from Miami. I booked our flight home for 10:17 am on the day we return. Now I see that Azamara recommends we book return flights departing no earlier than 11:00 am. Will we have enough time to make our flight? I'm not worried about the luggage, just about us.

    Thanks,

    Kathy

I did a 1030 departure from MIA after departing Quest once. Long queue for cabs outside port customs. Rushed to airport. Checked bags. LONG line at TSA but we were TSA PreCheck so got into separate line. Made it to the gate 15 minutes to spare. Fellow cruisers who had to use regular TSA lines didn't make the flight. Taxi availability and TSA screening lines especially are high risks to success in MIA. And add the risk of being "selected" for enhanced screening to the risk pool. High stress is not a good way to end a vacation in my view.

  10. In my case, I did not want to have the money from the excursions paid before the cruise refunded to my credit card. I have requested to receive it in cash on the last day of the cruise. It comes to your on board account as refundable on board credit. I did not have a problem getting it refunded in cash.

What is annoying is that on board prices for excursions are higher than if you book before the cruise. This was my case in October/November 2017.

    Ivi

My experience as well, Journey December/January 2017/18

  11. Scenario #1: Azamara B2B with $1000 OBC on each segment. Spend $500 on first segment - does segment two now have $1500 available?

Scenario #2: Leave cruise segment two above with some OBC unspent, have another cruise with Azamara booked, paid, and departing a couple months later. Can any of the unspent OBC be rolled over to the next cruise?

  12. Now I'm confused.... not to mention a little concerned. I originally had researched and confirmed the port for the March 25th sailing of Journey from Signapore was Singapore Cruise Centre Harbourfront, but the Guest Ticket Booklet which I printed yesterday states Marina Bay Cruise Centre.

Here's the link to the Singapore Cruise Centre Harbourfront with Azamara Journey listed as confirmed arriving and departing March 25th:

    https://www.singaporecruise.com.sg/index.php/?page_id=110&action=cruise

Here's the link to the Marina Bay Cruise Centre - no Azamara for March 25th - in fact Azamara is not even a vessel option when searching:

    https://mbccs.com.sg/index.php?option=com_jumi&view=application&fileid=4&Itemid=117&select_vessel=&to_date_hidden=25%2F03%2F2018&from_date_hidden=25%2F03%2F2018

Bonnie if you can please confirm.

The cruise center website also shows Journey next port of call as Port Klang.....

  13. We’ll be spending three nights pre cruise in London before boarding the ship in Greenwich; since it’s our first visit to London we have no idea where to stay. Suggestions would be much appreciated [emoji4]

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I have spent a lot of time in London on business over the years and prefer the area west of st. paul's, east of nottinghill, north of the thames, and south of regent's park. Greenwich is to the east but a first timer who wants to see the main attractions and maybe take in a show will spend most of their time within the described area. Hotels are everywhere and are generally pricey. There are lots of Brits on this board who can probably give you specific recommendations based upon interests and budget. Don't stay in Greenwich.

  14. Have tried Regent, Oceania's bigger and better brother, for 49 nights and it was a ho-hum experience. Reviews of Oceania by Azamara regulars seem largely to prefer Azamara, including over Oceania's much-overhyped food. And I remember 1951, Flatbush..

You like Oceania? You cruise it. Enjoy the perpetual two-for-one bogus pricing deal. No interest on my part.

Not sure why Flatbush is trolling on behalf of Oceania but I met several Oceania-past passengers on the holiday Journey cruise and they, as first timers on Azamara, said they thought that cruise was better than their experiences on O, and that the food was better on the Journey as well.

  15. Thumbs down to Veranda Plus as a separate class.

Bigger baths can be had in CC suites and up. Sometimes I think the tiny showers are viewed as badges of honor or something. Most people joke about them and even use them as entry points in conversations with new on board acquaintances.

Laundry, specialty restaurant coupons, internet, et al - pay as you go or earn via repeat travel. Or bundle them if you like. But no take-aways please

Met many Azamara first timers on the Christmas cruise on the Journey. Former fans of Oceania who found Azamara "better" because of the passengers and crew. Current Seabourn fans who found the passengers more friendly, open, active, and adventurous. My own reaction returning to Azamara after a Crystal cruise a few months earlier was that the passengers and crew are the reason for the season.

Let's not mess with that, not even a little, just because X does it.

  16. Taking out an interior wall is a pretty small job so I sense an on board sales opportunity was the possible motive. Personally I wish quiet seating opportunities were not reduced. I have no interest in sitting in a bar and it's a longish way to the Mosaic from the library. Will be trying it out in September and see.

  17. Absolutely a bizarre move. I'm not sure why they would even think of this?

There is now an opportunity for Spirits Bar to become a proper relaxing bar and music venue. Azamara should rethink this strange plan, if true.

On my TA website are the alleged deck plans for the Pursuit. Deck 4 is shown as unchanged. Deck 5 changes are multiple: 1. Casino tables gone and the entire area surrounding the Spirits bar is now designated "Spirits". The photoshop is in the same spot. 2. The on board shop has been enlarged and taken over most of the area where the Mosaic was, and the Mosaic coffee bar has been moved from the port side to the starboard side taking over the area where the art desk is currently located on the sister ships. If factual, Mosaic seating space is lost to the shop. A small area where the Mosaic coffee machine was is unnamed, perhaps they will put the art desk, or something else sales oriented, there. If all these changes are factual, I regret the decision to expand the shop at the expense of the Mosaic seating. The remainder of the ship deck plans appear to be unchanged.
