  1. I don't know if this is a good deal to others, but is seems good for us.  Doing Rome to Barcelona. departing October 23, 2023 for 9 days on the Prima .  Fare with additions (FAS+, internet, dining and upgraded beverage package for daughter, 2 NCL excursions for 3) comes to $387 per person per night $9946 total. We are in an H5, Owners Suite w/ large balcony on deck 12.  Airfare booked on our own and 2 nights in both Rome and Barcelona on each end of the cruise adds up quick though but I did not want to skew the cruise fare discussion.  Our first trip to Europe so we stretched some but are really excited.

  2. On deck 16, upon entering the Haven area, there is a corridor that leads to the concierge desk and around the corner is the bar.  Next to the bar is the entrance to the restaurant.  Right at the entrance to the Haven area is a doorway that enters into a corridor on which the port side cabins are located. That corridor goes all the way forward with an entrance to the lounge area part way and a little further forward, a door to the courtyard.  I hope I explained it in a way that makes sense.

  3. We were in the Haven on the Getaway in October of last year.  We had a Courtyard suite on 16 and loved the location.  Easy access to the lounge, restaurant and concierge.  It is also great having the courtyard and pool basically outside your door.  Easy access to the sundeck as well.  Probably can't go wrong on either deck though, it's the Haven.

    Have fun and enjoy!

From memory, and not sure this is true of all NCL ships (as some have much smaller Haven areas) but I think the Haven cabins are on decks 10,11,12, 14 (Haven Spa Suites) 16 and 17.  The Haven Proper is on deck 16, where the Haven Lounge, poll, restaurant and bar is.  Deck 17 has the Haven lounging chairs and looks down on the Haven Pool area.

It's only accessible with your specific cabin key card.

If you want to be right in the Haven, then deck 16 is where you want to be.

Not to find fault at all, but the Haven Courtyard on the Joy is on Deck 17.  Lounge is on 17, the Haven Restaurant in on deck 18.  The balconies on 17 are larger/deeper than the balconies on 18. We were in a Courtyard Penthouse w/large balcony on deck 17 in 2019 and really enjoyed everything about the location.

  5. graphicguyI think the Whistle Pig is a good rye, but not that impressive to drink neat or on the rocks (Too much of a bite).  Good mixed with cola or ginger ale.  McCallan is a great way to end the evening or with a cigar in the lounge.  As you can tell, I usually upgrade to P+, but I can also live quite well with Jack Daniels. Everyone have fun and keep sampling wha they have!

However you DO care or else you wouldn't have read, much less commented on the thread. Not to mention the "many" that you have read to justify your parenthetical. Given that you drop into the middle of a discussion, and instead of commenting on the topic you choose to broadly insult everyone with your self-endowed superiority, you can rest assured that you're not missed at the Meet & Greets. Weird however, that up until now you didn't go to the Meet & Greets and you had no idea why.

How would you know if I have attended a meet and greet?  By the way, I have in the past and actually had an okay time, nothing that special. I have more to think about and enjoy than to get upset if someone chooses to spend their money on something or not.  I understand that the crew members benefit from the DSC and I have never withdrawn them even once.  I did not single anyone out in my post and may have gone too far. I am sorry about that.  My consternation is that it seem that these threads go deep into degrading comments and cheap shots.  That is what ultimately frustrated me.  I come here to try to learn.  Sorry for possibly overreacting but it does get frustrating when trying to get a different perspective on subjects and have to read the negativity during those reads.

  7. You know, I really do not care a whit if someone removes the DSC or not.  Not my business.  But, after reading through this thread (one of many that seem to turn this way), I now know why I do not go to Meet & Greets.  There are undoubtedly some of you that I would not want to talk to in person.

Happy Cruising and You Do You.

  8. A few years ago, we stayed at the Residence Inn in Dania Beach.  Having a car would be a plus, but used Uber to go to any stores or restaurants we wanted to visit.  It is a nice hotel and served us well.  I should have mentioned though that we were cruising out of POM on those trips and used Uber to and from there.

  9. Gary, let me start by saying thank you for all the guidance on enjoying the Haven.  We will be in the Haven again in October, this time on the Getaway.  Haven lite may come into play at some point. I have a question though, when ordering and drinking your Tequila 1942, is there an upcharge?  Just wanting to know for future reference.  Thank again for your work and advice.

  10. First of all, thank you for the great review/narration of your cruise.  We had been in the Haven on the Joy in December of 2019.  Your previous advise and suggestions came in very handy on that trip and they will on our cruise in the Haven on the Bliss in 10 days.  Secondly, did you try the Whistle Pig yet?  And lastly, I didn't realize that you are that handsome (or was that just the shot I noticed?)

  11. Trying to think back to December of 2019 in the Haven on the Joy.  I had the Premium Plus and was drinking Whistle Pig all week.  I know that it wasn't Piggyback and pretty sure it was the 10 year.  Probably can't remember really well since the bartenders told me I had finished a bottle and a half by the end of the week. And to the point of the package upgrade being worth it, heck yes it is to me (and my daughter). We will be upgrading for our cruise on the Bliss in December (Haven once more).

  12. I had a medical problem on the Getaway about 3 years ago.  I had an allergic reaction to something, still undetermined (stone crab claws, antibiotic is was taking, who knows?).  the doctors and nurses I encountered were very nice and the care was fine.  Two visits over 3 days to the medical center, received 2 steroid shots and Benadryl tablets.  The charges on the on board account came to in excess of $800.00 US.  Thank goodness for medical insurance which covered and the NCL trip insurance which covered the remainder.  Moral of my story, care good, costs bad.
