  1. Sounds like a big win for your Aunt & Uncle! Any move towards the center of a ship for someone with mobility issues is a big plus. And, while I haven't stayed in suite 417, all of the launderettes are super small. I have been assured there is no noise penetration from the launderette into the neighboring cabins as well. So, when you consider there are only 6 suites on level 4, I would expect launderette use to be very minimal.

  2. The menu does not change frequently enough and that is only the end of the problems with this restaurant. The start of the problems are getting through the door in the first place. It may be alright for an early dinner but for anyone who wants to enjoy a drink and company in the bar, forget it.
That is interesting eastwoodboy. Sorry to read about your experience.

I guess I was really lucky on a sold out voyage this fall. Some evenings I had a pre-dinner cocktail or met friends in the bar prior to dining in Atlantide too. Never once was I turned away upon entering the restaurant, or had to wait more than 5-minutes. I found the menu delightful with plenty to choose from too.

  3. China is just crazy! The amount of construction is beyond anything you can imagine: office towers, condos, apartments, mega malls... whole new cities, canals, freeways and subway/skytrain lines are sprouting like mushrooms after an autumn rain.
I agree. It is unlike anything I ever dreamed. Whole new cities in the middle of nowhere sprouting up. I heard a stat this past summer that something on the magnitude of half of the world's cranes are presently operating in China.
  4. Lots of complaints about it being on seven day rotation. Not a problem for us. Lots of choices over course seven days!
    I love your attitude!

I never once tired of the Atlantide (or any other restaurant) menu on my recent lengthy Muse voyage, nor did I hear of any complaints from dining companions. There were so many excellent choices each and every day.

I know there has been a lot of consternation about food here on this forum about the Muse, but I for one thought the food was the best of any voyage I have ever enjoyed on SS. And, mind you, I have sailed on a L'École des Chefs voyage with David Bilsland on the Cloud before. The food on the Muse was exquisite in my opinion.

  5. Our recent Silver Explorer (capacity 144) cruise was sailing with only 104 guests.

I heard through the grapevine, but could not verify, that almost all of the cabins were occupied, and the low number of guests was only due to a large number of single-occupancy cabins.

Hi JP. I experienced something similar on a recent Muse voyage where all cabins were occupied and the guest count was 540. With the potential occupancy of the Muse at 596, nearly 10% of the ship's passengers were sailing solo.
  6. Any problem getting tables in Atlantiide or Indochine?
I was on a completely full voyage in early November and never once had a problem getting a table, whether I wanted to dine alone or in a group. I arrived at different times too from 7:00p - 8:30p and was always treated warmly by the Maître D's of both restaurants.
  7. Of course I looked out there, but since deck 12 is not shown on deck plans aimed at passengers and the door is marked Emergency Exit, it seems perfectly clear that pax are not supposed to go up there.
I respectfully disagree JollyJones as there is no alarm associated with the door. Since you looked out there, you know no emergency alarm sounded and saw it's a public space. If you were to ask the Hotel Director or Cruise Director I am sure they would tell you the same thing. It was the Cruise Consultant who showed me. I saw passengers exiting/entering through the door each time I was in the library, so in my opinion it is certainly clear passengers are allowed to go up there.

Just my two cents, but I imagine the reason the online deck plan doesn't show it is because it's the only area accessible to passengers on deck 12 and not worth drawing as it would make it harder to read the other decks online.

  8. My question is - will we be the youngest passengers ? ( age 29 & 35)
IMO, it depends on the time of year your journey coincides with school holidays. For example, my DH and I are in our early 50's and on a recent fall voyage we were one of the youngest couples on board, whereas when we were in our early 40's and cruised Alaska or the Med in the summer, we were just a part of the great middle with many, many couples younger than us.

Regardless of age, based on your description of the voyage you seek, I believe you will enjoy Silversea immensely. Best wishes!
