Looks like entertainment in Silver Note doesn't start until ~8:45pm each night.

Looks like 8:00p to me in Dr. Ron’s post.

…where in all of these threads one can find a post showing a few typical 'Chronicles' for one of the newer SS ships.

LesB posted a couple this week in the forum.

I'm pretty sure having full personal details including passport details with expiry dates etc represents a huge GDPR reportable offence. To say move along nothing to see (in effect) is startling!

I agree.  And, while I don't know what the GDPR is, considering I can see all personally identifiable information along with full passport details of other people without even having the slightest technical acumen, certainly implies identify theft could occur.  I know here in the U.S. if someone else has our passport number we're supposed to alert the proper authorities, namely the State Department.

    Any disadvantage booking direct?

Several disadvantages.  Folks above have provided good advice.

We would book Classic Veranda.  Any advantage booking next level up?

None, as far as Verandas are concerned, other than location.  The suites are identical.  Just depends on where you want to be on your chosen ship.

My concern in general is weird routings - has that been an issue on SS?

Yes, it has been an issue for some.  Do a search of this forum and you'll find the examples.

Prices ever go down or special promotions that I would be protected on?

Visit the Silversea website and familiarize yourself with their programs.  All the detail is there for you to research at your leisure.

Sport coat needed?  Acceptable? on this route

Needed?  Depends where you wish to dine and what the dress code is that for that evening.

    Acceptable?  Always.

General quality of the included excursions on SS?

You get what you pay for.  Overall quality is hit or miss.

I hope this isn't the start of a new trend in customer service.

Considering how Silversea has seemingly followed whatever Regent does ever since Regent's former CEO (Mark Conroy) joined Silversea, don't be surprised if Silversea starts charging for telephone calls too.

I think sometimes there are people with mobility issues who worry more about making their flight because they cannot walk very fast and they want to be sure to make their flight.  On arrival at their final destination it may not be as big an issue if they can walk more slowly.

Totally agree.  There are a myriad of reasons why someone would need, or want, to use the wheelchair services offered by an airline.  FlyerTalker showed an utter lack of disability awareness and should be ashamed of the post directed to zqtchas.

As for Stumblefoot’s observation that millennials crave dressing up….I beg to differ.  When we offered an all expense paid SS cruise to my son and his fiancé we had to almost beg them to go with us because they despised the idea that they had to dress up even as much as the informal nights required.  It wasn’t an issue of not having the wardrobe, it’s that they both work hard and prefer relaxed attire for a relaxing vacation.  In the end they accompanied us and had a good time but really hated lugging the dressier clothes.

Too funny.  You had to beg your son to go and we didn't even invite ours!  Haha.

When we told him of our plans about 6-months prior to our last voyage, he begged us to go.  Like your kid, our kid works hard too, but unlike yours must enjoy dressing up on a cruise for a relaxing vacation.  He and his fiancé bought some new clothes to wear on the ship.  They both were super sharp!  And, unlike you, I never heard a single negative peep out of them about lugging dressier clothes either.  So, I guess I'm in Stumblefoot's camp as he didn't say all Millennials like dressing up on vacation, just those he met on a Silversea cruise enjoyed it.

Oh, and one last point, our kid paid his own way. 😉 He's an adult.  He can afford to pay his own way if he wants to go.  No need to bribe him in my book to spend time with his parents.

Mod Lois may remember it from many years ago - and the suspension of privs for a while for a whole group of us here back then.  It all had to do with a Ms. Brenda Moran who was 'excommunicated' by RCL back in 2007, and a court case, unrelated to cruising, having to do with use of pepper spray.  WD-40 was said to become her new defensive tool of choice at that time.

Thanks!  Sounds like a fun conversation over cocktails some time.

And, I had no idea @Lois R was the Moderator here in the SS forum.  Good to know!

I think that you are being rather pedantic here as you will know from your previous experiences with SS

I don't think folks who are responding to you are being pedantic, but you seem to be a bit cantankerous to them.

I too agree with Stumblefoot as my most recent experience was similar to sea bright's.  I even had a date of a so called "confirmed" reservation like you pasted above changed to a completely different date.  No big deal to me, but do be sure to check your requests once you arrive in your suite.

  10. For those who didn't receive the Venetian Society survey, below you will find each screen as posed by Silversea.

Personally, I was shocked by the questions measuring the likelihood of booking a cruise on their sister lines, in addition to measuring whether the new Silversea loyalty program's reciprocal benefits would entice a Silversea passenger to book a cruise on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity.  Does Silversea really want their passengers to trade down to their sister lines?  I don't know, but this reminds me of how Marriott destroyed the Ritz Carlton brand after acquiring it.

I'd love to read others' thoughts on this proposal after reading the survey below.

  13. Looks like Silversea is considering potential changes to their loyalty program.  Nowhere in the survey was there any mention of linking or providing benefits amongst the various Royal Caribbean Group companies.  In addition, no potential reward (Amazon gift card, etc.) or direct monetary payment ($5 or $10, etc.) was provided to entice potential respondents.  Below are the questions as they appeared in the survey.
