Marine traffic showed her closer 45 mins ago than now, she must be early and they took her back out.

I am getting ready to go see her come into the terminal from the state park, the park does not open till 8.

If I get some pictures. I'll post them.

Thanks, SeaWatch12!  Enjoy the view!  Wish I was there, too.

Did you notice the arrival time on Marine Traffic, 14:30. She most be staying out near one of the buoys before coming into PEV.

I believe they all do that.  That is probably why the port schedule says they are all coming in from Sea Buoy and in to whichever berth they are assigned.  Because they all have to have a Pilot on board and also get escorted in by either the Coast Guard and/or the Port Police or Water Patrol, they need to not come in directly.

She will be the fifth multi-day cruise ship to come in to PE tomorrow.  They will start arriving at 03:45, which seems earlier than usual for the big cruise ships.  Perhaps that is because of Edge's arrival scheduled for 08:00 and all the celebration that will be going on when she comes in.  That would be my guess.

I will be at work but will have the webcam open at 7 AM and will keep and eye on it intermittently. 🙂

Port info still says 08:00 AM.  That's too early for me to get there from the other coast of FL and find a good spot for viewing.  I am disappointed, but will definitely be online and watching the port cam.  :classic_love:

Looks like the first time I will see her in person will be on December 23rd, when I return from my 4-day on HAL's Nieuw Statendam, her first voyage out of PE.  Unless I can find a bargain for earlier in December.  :classic_huh:

So refreshing to see such civility!  AND a new word??  “geezier”.  Love it, although I bet it is not gender-neutral.  Isn’t funny that the English language has these odd bits of gender, even though we don't have declensions and cases?  At any rate, feel free to refer to me as “old broad-ier”.  😏😏

Thanks, but it BETTER be gender-neutral because I would be closer to old broadier than geezzier!

    What is the Charter group?

I think if Spring breakers can afford the fares, they will like the EDGE,,,all the lights, bars, theater and the Club, gym...lots of food choices.

Spring break time also attracts families...I am technically a " geezer" and find that term  used in a post above to be offensive!  Seniors would be fine,..

Well, I am most likely geezier than you are, and I certainly did not mean it in an offensive way.  Personally, I hate the moniker "Senior" so, like most other things here on CC, maybe we can agree to disagree?  And, in the spirit of same, please accept my apology for offending you.

I wasn't freaking out until your post. 😉  Actually, I am freaking out - I have so many lists, that I had to make a list of my lists! I was up at 4:00 AM - couldn't sleep because I was so excited! 😁

I fear you will be sleep deprived by the time you leave VT.  Please try to figure out how to get some rest before your big adventure.  You will surely enjoy it more if you are awake.  :classic_wink:

I'm trying to keep an open mind...the large part of me is saying...NO.

Hippy, Dippy, Crazy, Magic, Call it what you will...

I'm sorry. I'm as stuck on this as I am on Weed in a Vape Locker...

I feel like I've accmplished more than rolling joints in the 80s.

    And can Just Say No.

As in I don't need any Weed any More.

    DO YOU???

Sorry, but I don't think you ARE really trying to keep an open mind.  This has absolutely nothing to do with weed or vaping.

There are lots of us who think the Hippie Van is very cute and a clever idea, along with Mr. Edge and the Polar Bear and Puppy.  And, there are a number of us who really dislike the Creepy Trees and the equally creep Wooden People, but we are not making a huge "thing" about it.  If we don't like them, we will just stay away from them.  If you don't like the VW bus, just find yourself a lounger or chair facing the other way.  Easy peasy.  Not a big deal.

Personally, I think it is great, and am jealous that everyone in the suites will get to enjoy it, but I will not, because I am in a lowly IV.  WHAT am I saying?!?!  I am SOOOO lucky to be on our beloved Edge, regardless of which class of stateroom, and will enjoy every minute.  Maybe I will even find someone who will invite me into the Retreat just for a few minutes to see the van and have a photo op, should it actually be there.  (vt - are you listening? Hint, hint)

Yes, I think there is deals in March and perhaps April as this is slow time for cruises. I am sure that they will not pack the edge with spring breaker kids.

    jc

Sorry, but I believe they will pack the Edge with whoever has the money for the bookings, be it geezers or spring breaker kids.

I found the time clock and it still is 0900 - sorry,  I must have added incorrectly. :classic_rolleyes:   It now says 1 day 23 hrs 40 minutes... If she is coming in at 0800, they may have not updated the clock yet.

You are completely forgiven for miscalculating.... after all, you must be very busy organizing and packing all the wares for the dockside store plus your own clothing, etc., for your three cruises.  Not to mention that you are probably freaking out that you are leaving next week!  OMG!  They would have to sedate me!   How can you stand it??

  10. 9 minutes ago, vtcruising said:

I think it may have changed to 0800. I saw a time clock somewhere this morning which put it in at 0800.

That will really put a proverbial monkey wrench in the plans of all those who are trying to be there for her arrival!

With regard to post #5713, when I checked the port schedule this morning, Silhouette was scheduled for T25 yesterday but was docked at T26.  Tomorrow, Reflection was scheduled for T25, but will be at T18.  The good news is that our Edge is still slated for T25 on Monday.  I bet there are a LOT of workers getting overtime this weekend!  Thanks to all of them for their hard work!

  11. Scheduled 11/19/2018 08:00 ARR  CELEBRITY EDGE  SEABUOY 25           Freeport, Grand Bahama  Nassau       Starboard Must

Scheduled 11/21/2018 16:00 DEP  CELEBRITY EDGE  25               SEABOUY   Freeport, Grand Bahama  Nassau

Scheduled 11/23/2018 07:00 ARR  CELEBRITY EDGE  SEABUOY 25                 TBD                                      TBD

Above is the current Port Everglades Terminal 25 schedule.  I wonder if the arrival time on the 19th has really changed, or if that is an error.  It would really be too bad if everyone showed up for the 0900 arrival, and she really came in at 0800.

And,  please note that on the 23rd, there is no notation for which side she wants/needs to dock on.  Like any other independent woman, she can change her mind!

Where is Mr. Edge? Is he attached to the deck somehow? Do you think he would share his lounger?

Can't wait to meet him next week and hopefully sit in his lounger and watch people discover him....

vt- you need to make a sign to hang around his neck - "Mr. Edge" and take a photo for us with it on him!

Shucks, could have towed my trailered boat down to PE and done the welcome, except for an appointment.

We all could have pitched in for gas/fuel for your boat.  Don't you think maybe you could change that appointment in the name of a really good cause?  (Sorry - just kidding.  I know if it was possible to change it, you would already be working on it. ) :classic_wink:

I have booked a boat tour with Carrie B Cruises for Nov 24th after we fly in (cruise is next day). It will take us right into the port and we should get some good pictures of the Edge. There are openings for the 11:00 AM tour on the 19th. You wouldn't see her arrive, but would be there soon after.

"Proceeding south through the 17th Street Causeway Bridge, we officially enter Port Everglades. On a busy day we will be rewarded with unparalleled views of some of the largest cruise ships in the world (pictured right). It's no secret this port is the winter home to one of the world's largest ocean liners, Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2 as well as Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas. The Carrie B offers the best viewing of these grand ships when they are in port.

Port Everglades set the record for the most cruise ships in port on a single day, then later broke this record on three different occasions. Cruise ship aficionados appreciate our in depth coverage of this fast paced industry. We routinely host passengers from the ships you will see in the port. Want to know more about a particular cruise? Ask the person sitting next to you, they might have just stepped off the ship."

I think they should schedule a special outing on the 19th at, say, 8:30AM, so they could be in the thick of things when she comes in through the channel.  Yeah!  VT, you need to let them know, then you can fly down join us for this monumental event!

  15. You're most likely right, MVP.  Maybe they will try to corral all the little guys in that area to give Edge room to dock.

I watch sail-aways on the PE webcams, and that intercoastal waterway/Stranahan River area gets very crowded with small boats, who seem to have no clue how to stay out of the way of cruise ships.  Inviting even more of them to be there for Edge's first arrival seems like a disaster waiting to happen, and a complete nightmare for the Ft. Lauderdale police boats, Coast Guard and FWP, not to mention the pilot, who must oversee the whole thing.  You also have to factor in the Fire boats who will be there for the water salute.  IMHO this is the making of a cluster **** ... :classic_wacko:
