  1. We enjoyed the Solarium for lunch on several days. It does get crowded at peak times. We thought the food was better than the WJ. The Park Cafe is always crowded on embarkation day. Not sure what all the hype is about on those beef sandwiches. They were ok, but nothing special.

Thank you for all the suggestions!!

One question, the Solarium has A/C, right? Or is it open air??

  2. We purchased a case of water for our cruise since we drink a lot of water. We wanted to bring our silver Engel mugs (30 oz) so we could walk around the ship with cold water. I know that upon boarding, they used to ask you to throw away any food or drinks. Will we have any issues bringing the mugs on board?

Has anyone done this in the past?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

  3. Other than the windjammer buffet and the pizza place, are there any other places to eat?

In previous cruises, the main dining room was open. There are so many eating places on this ship, we weren’t sure what was open or not.

Also, what is being served? I know the endless choices in the windjammer but it’s always so busy!

    Thank you!!

  4. We are going for the first time on Allure in the summer... we are looking forward to several dining experiences. What is the Izumi hibachi experience like? The $45 is for the meal, right? (I ask because on the menu, each item is priced separately) this is confusing. I’ve been to hibachi restaurants at home but I’m not sure what to expect.

  5. Thank you ALL for your insight! Those of you who have been on Allure of the Seas, could you tell me if the CK has ample room between the tables? If anyone has pictures, that would be great. We are concerned about being so close to the next table that we can pick up the neighbors food and move it to our table. [emoji15]

We’ve noticed in some previous cruises that a restaurant tries to cram as many tables as possible and you feel claustrophobic.

    Thanks for your help!!!

  6. I’ve been sailing since 1987. The food in the MDR was delicious back then and elegant compared to now. The service was fantastic. The servers were attentive, friendly and courteous. I feel the real reason for this is that in those years, the ships weren’t as big as they are now and they didn’t carry as many people as they do now. You did have choices too. The buffet and room service were available and the food was fresh too. Back then I think they only had 1 steakhouse and that was more personalized service and decadent food. All companies are always going to try to cut costs and when they started creating the mega ships, they also tried to see how else they could get more money. Whether that was through liquor, upscale restaurant or adding things to the ships to attract more people. All companies want to see more profit.

This is the main reason we changed from Carnival to Royal and Celebrity. Celebrity has their ships in the same size as how they used to be in the 90’s and their customer service is amazing.

We have never been on a mega ship and decided to try it this summer.

    Just my opinion...

  7. Can we order anything from the main dining room menu if we don’t like the selections in the Coastal Kitchen?

We are going to celebrate our 25th anniversary and this is our first time in a suite. We are concerned that we will be stuck ordering from the “classic” side of the menu all cruise long. Please advise if anyone has had issues with this situation or not. Thank you!!

  8. DH and I were wondering if y’all could suggest any good places to book day (or half day) fishing trips in Nassau. We didn’t want to book anything on the ship because it’s usually very expensive. In the past, we’ve had great suggestions here on cruise critic so I decided to ask again.

Thank you for all your information!

  9. The Azapods make all the difference in the world when thrusting away from the dock.

That is great to hear! I’m assuming that you don’t feel them while you’re sailing to your destination either, right? Are there any other downfalls to the aft cabins? I noticed on a cruise I was recently on that if you stood on the level of the buffet, you could look down into some of the balconies. Is that on every ship?

  10. I usually go to the MDR on the day I board and look at the menu. On the last cruise, Infinity, we weren’t impressed so we were trying to look around at the specialty restaurants menus in front of the restaurant. When I was reading Tuscan Grille’s menu, a waiter started talking to us and we explained our situation. He told us of the special they had that night, BOGO, and we decided to try it. Due to the staff’s fantastic service, extremely delicious food and ambiance, we decided to eat there for the rest of the week (they gave us discounts too). Our waiter, Melvin, was friendly and amazing and the rest of the staff was fantastic too. They all treated us like family and bent over backwards to make us happy. For that kind of service and the level of food that you receive, we’d go back! Our favorite restaurant is Murano but theyno linger have it on the Infinity or the Summit. We are going on the Equinox and we are looking forward to dining there![emoji39]

  11. We haven’t been in an aft cabin in over 20 years. I was wondering if you felt the motors like you used to in 1987? I went on a ship and was in an inside cabin but towards the aft of the ship...I really felt the motors and haven’t booked anything like that again. We know ships have really evolved since then so I figured I’d ask. Thank you for your comments
