  1. DOH!!! I knew that. That's what I get for posting an hour after I am normally in bed. Thank you for pointing that out Ashland. Would hate for someone to look for that tour and thinking it's in Skagway and have iot screw up their plans.

We loved the Crab Tour. It ended up being my wife's most favorite thing of our cruise when the Bald Eagles were fed. I would definitely think of doing it again the next time we cruise Alaska

Do you think that the Deadliest crab tour can be done in the same day after another tour? We arrive at 2pm and leave at 8:30. Maybe this should be a question I should ask them but we already booked a float plane tour to see the misty fjords national monument with Island Wings Air Service. They have great reviews on trip advisor. The plane tour is 2.5 hours long.

I was told you'll save more money if you book your tours on your own instead of going with the crowded cruise tours. We did this on our last cruise and were very pleased! Our trip to Alaska is next June and have already planned 2 whale watching tours in the other 2 cities we're docking at. Trip advisor helped us make some of the decisions too.

  2. I hope you are having a fantastic time on the Infinity!! I hope to hear about the ship, food, and ambiance if you can post it please!

Where have you eaten? MDR? Buffet? Tuscan Grill? Qzine? How was the food? What activities do they have during the day?

I look forward to reading your posts!!!

  3. How did you like the Tuscan Grille? After Infinity was refurbished, they changed the menu. Due to complaints about extra charges on aged steaks, etc., they mentioned they would change the menu in July 2016. Do you have pictures of both pages of the menu?

We are going next year and can't wait!

  4. We also love Blu. Several cruises ago we had our first aqua cabin and I don't see us ever going back to the MDR. Last cruise we were upgraded to a sky suite and ate in Luminea. That was also wonderful. Next up the Silhouette in August and back to Blu.

How were you upgraded to a suite? I've read that I should go to customer service once I board and ask for an upgrade. Any other suggestions?

I've cruised in C2 cabins before and loved it! The next cruise is on the Infinity to Alaska in my first Aqua class. I can't wait!!

  5. I am sure I read on here you can ask for shrimp/prawn cocktail instead, will try it out in September and see what happens!

I did that on the Silhouette (3/2014) and the Summit (11/2015) while sailing on a concierge level cabin. They should do the same for an Aqua class, I guess.

  6.

Thanks everyone for all the replies. Makes me even more eager for this cruise. I had looked on the web sight but you are correct that celebrity doesn't list everything. I do find their site harder to use than holland. Tried to figure how to add a special event and to have the beds divided but was unable to find out. Holland does make it quite simple as you do this when you register. Guess I will have to do it on board. Just hate for the room steward to have to redo the bed.[emoji17]

You can call your travel agent and they can make any of the changes you mentioned. If you booked your cruise with Celebrity, call them and they will help you out with that too. That way, it's all done before you board the ship [emoji2][emoji4][emoji41]! Have fun!!

  7. We are in a suite. The statement has been that Luminae is closed on port days for lunch. Does anyone know if that means when we are in port at lunch or all port days?

Any ideas if the speciality restaurants are open for lunch at all?

I was wondering..... I think I've read that if you aren't in a suite, you can still dine at Luminae for a surcharge of $30 pp. is this right?

  8. Looking on Booking.com in USD

    •
    • $160 Residence Inn Marriott Vancouver

    • $180 Delta Vancouver Suites » Like the large rooms and it's only 5 blocks from the cruise terminal

    • $183 Rosedale on Robson » Suites!

    • $185 Hampton Inn & Suites Vancouver Downtown

    • $206 Century Plaza

    • $565 Fairmont Pacific Rim

    • $675 Pan Pacific

I think it's too early to look for hotels. Some say hotel prices look better 10 months out. Perhaps look again in September.

Otherwise, from the list above..... I like Delta or Rosedale for this budget traveler.

Auberge is a 3rd choice for close access to cruise terminal.

I haven't stayed at these hotels.... but they are popular in these forums.

Thank you thank you thank you!! [emoji2][emoji41]

    I appreciate all your advice!

  9. Vancouver is expensive. One of the hotels that many people recommend is the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. The best price on that one is to go through priceline, scroll halfway through page and click "express deals" (you wont know what the hotel is until after you booked). Enter your dates and then see the hotels pop up that are available at a discount for your dates. If you see a 4 1/2 star hotel pop up that says "4½-Star Express Deal Hotel

Downtown - Coal Harbor, Stanley Park, Convention Center Area ", that is the Hyatt. It usually is at least half off if you book it that way (for our dates it was $215, if booked anywhere else it was $450).

You can usually figure out what the other hotels are too. Just google search the description and it will probably show you what hotel it is.

    Bookings are non-refundable.

EDIT: I just checked for dates in June 2017 and it is available for $190, and $349 on all other sites. You cannot choose your bed when you book this way, but they only have king sized beds or two doubles. If you are ok with either one, it is not a problem (though calling the hotel for a change of beds often works but is not guaranteed). We were assigned 2 double beds on our booking (which is what we hoped for as I am going with my sister).

This hotel has the same rating as the Pan Pacific.

I'd used Priceline in the past but figured this far out the actual hotels might be cheaper.

Thank you for the info. $190 is more palatable than $450 or $350.

I'd like to stay in the waterfront area since we are arriving the day before and then sailing to Alaska. We were thinking (if the prices are reasonable) Pan Pacific, Fairmont waterfront or pacific rim, Hyatt Regency, etc.

We'd like to keep prices down to $180-$290 possibly.

Thanks to all for your opinions!

  10. Seadancer

We sailed Silhouette, with Blu last August in the Baltic. Dined prime time most nights with 2, and were only asked to wait once in 12 nights. They offered to seat us at large shared table or wait. We took a beeper, and went to the lounge for a drink. We were seated for dinner within 15-20 min. DH is a picky eater, nothing to exotic. The Blu staff was fantastic at meeting his needs.

Thank you so much! We really appreciate it!

  11. I've heard about the Pan Pacific (you tip the bell man and he makes sure your luggage gets to ship terminal!) but we were wondering if there are any other nice hotels that aren't going to cost a pretty penny in the same area. We are arriving the day before our ship sails.

Any suggestions would be welcome. We are sailing in June 2017. Thanks in advance!! [emoji41]

  12. Hi everyone!

My wife and I are taking a cruise on the Infinity to Alaska in August. Just wondering if anyone knows what perks are currently being offered if we decide to book a future cruise with Celebrity while onboard. Looking perhaps at a European cruise (Baltic or Mediterranean) for Summer 2017.

I am assuming that the perks offered depend on the length of the cruise? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

    Any

I hope you have a great time in August! When DH and I were on the Silhouette we booked our last cruise that we went on (Summit). On the Summit, we booked our future 2 cruises on the ship (Alaska-Infinity and Galapagos). The incentives for booking on board are fantastic!! We can transfer the booking to our TA once we are home and we have received incentives from the TA too.

I would definitely recommend this for you. You can change the date without paying any fees either!

Could I ask you for a favor? Could you please take a picture of the menu of the Tuscan grill (It's outside the restaurant) when you go on the cruise? It's supposed to change in July and I would love to see what they change it to.

I'm not sailing on the Infinity to Alaska until June! I'd like to know ASAP since it's our favorite restaurant.

    Thanks in advance![emoji2]

  13. We will be experiencing Blu for the first time in June too. What happens if (since no reservations are permitted) DH and I arrive and it's full? Do we just wait? 30 minutes? An hour? [emoji15][emoji33] I would want to stay but he wouldn't wait that long. Has anyone experienced anything like this???

  14. We are in a suite. The statement has been that Luminae is closed on port days for lunch. Does anyone know if that means when we are in port at lunch or all port days?

I don't think any specialty restaurant except the lawn club grill (only on Solstice class ships) are open. I know that they made many changes to the infinity but I'm unsure if they added that restaurant.

  15. yep.... you want to be at airport 3 hours pre-flight...

    •
    • 8:30am is when I would start walking off the ship

    • 9:10am is the latest you want to be in a cab

    • 9:45am arrive at airport

    • 12:45pm wheels up

    Thanks again!

On a side question, any suggestions for a hotel? I know the pan pacific gets your luggage to the ship (since we are staying the night before). Any suggestions? I know we'll have to pay a pretty penny but wanted to have choices. DH and I are really looking forward to this!

  16. OK... I see you want to go to Deltona.... I think Orlando MCO is the closest major city you want to fly to...

Looking at Expedia.... most one stop flights occur before 9am. You need an overnight Vancouver hotel. Delta is operating a red-eye flight at 12:35am.

Looking at July 2016..... The Infinity docks at 7am on Sunday. Here's a possible schedule.

    •
    • 7am docks

    • 7:30am first passengers walk the plank

    • 8am.... go enjoy breakfast

    • 9:20am... you leisurely stroll off the boat after the worst of the crowds have gone.

    • 9:45am.... after collecting luggage and clearing customs.... go look for CDS baggage. $40 sends your luggage to the airport or an overnight hotel.

    • 10am.... grab the Grouse Mountain shuttle

    • 10:30am.... Gondola! Theatre in the Sky? Bears? Eye of the Wind? Lumberjack show? Bird Show? Hiking? Zip Lining?

    • 2:30pm.... off the Mountain and ask the shuttle driver if there is a drop off at Capilano. If not... public transit or taxi to Capilano

    • 3pm.... enter Capilano

    • 4:30pm.... return shuttle downtown

    • 5pm.... you still have time before that red-eye..... Stanley Park? Granville Island? Gastown?

    • 7pm.... dinner? or Fly Over Canada

    • 8:30 go to the hotel. Or 35 minute subway to airport.

    • 9pm.... look for CDS luggage at international arrivals on the first floor

    • 9:15pm.... up the elevator to US departures for your 3 hour check-in, customs, and searches...

    • 12:30am.... wheels up with your dreams on your return to Vancouver because you didn't budget enough time!

Thank you so much for all the ideas. We are arriving from MCO the day before the cruise to explore. If we didn't want to take the red eye, I assume we can disembark at 7:30 and plan a flight leaving Vancouver at 11:00 or later...right?

  17. Vancouver is a great place to be stuck without a boat or plane... if only a few hours...

    Possible itinerary....

    •
    • 8am enjoy the breakfast that you paid for

    • 9am debarkation, look for luggage and customs

    • 9:45 walk over to CDS luggage and for $40 have your luggage ship to their airport for pickup

    • 10:15 walk outside to the Pan Pacific and look for the Grouse Mountain shuttle

    • 11:30am up the Gondola to catch the views, wildlife and shows

    • 4pm off Grouse and ask if the driver offers a drop off at Capilano. If not, public transit to Capilano

    • 4:30pm enter the Capilano Suspension bridge

    • 6pm catch one of the last free shuttles back downtown

    • 7pm catch the subway to the airport

    • 7:45pm arrive at airport to look for International Arrivals CDS luggage to retrieve luggage. Decide if you plan to stay longer to experience the Canadian lifestyle.

    • 8pm elevator upstairs to US departures... you are asked to check-in 3 hours pre-flight for customs and your security searches (hand, body, luggage, carry-on's, liquids, weapons, ULU's, and WMD's)

    • 10pm dinner at the airport

    • 11pm wheels up with dreams on your return to Vancouver on a future flight for more fun because you ran out of time!

We were hoping you could make some suggestions:

DH and I are taking a cruise on the Celebrity Infinity in June 2017. Could you edit the above itinerary you suggested for us?

We live in Florida and were thinking about flying back on the same day that we dock. What time frame should we plan to fly out? I'm asking because you mentioned we needed to be at the airport 3 hours before the flight.

What time does the Infinity start to allow passengers to disembark?

Thank you for all your info!

  18. Ha ha sorry that makes more sense now! The website for the touring company we used is Ketchikan helicopters.com. The owner Ryan could not have been a nicer person and the views were absolutely incredible. I would highly highly recommend that vendor. I do not know about a weight limit for that. The helicopter issmall but if there are just two of you I don't think it would matter. Just give him a call he is very responsive via email or phone

    Thanks again!
