Maybe your ship like ours (Westerdam October/November) offers the possibility to book “Bangkok on your own”. This is basically just a shuttle there and back with a certain number of free hours to do your own thing with the certainty of getting back to the ship.
Happy planning
Rosalyn
My ship is the Oceania Riviera. Believe it or not, Oceania is not offering any excursions from the ship.

Is anyone familiar with this port? We will be there in February and would like to know if there will be a lot of taxis to take us to Bangkok for a tour. Or, would we be better off making arrangements in advance.

I did a search on "security photo" but found nothing that answers my questions. When checking in do we just need to upload a photo (headshot)? Are there any requirements for the photo?
I've always uploaded a passport photo. That has always done the trick. But chances are they are going to take another photo of you at embarkation.

Other cruise lines have not sent luggage tags for years and expect you to print them at home. I never thought this would hold up, so I bought these as we sail Celebrity too. They are strong and reusable.
For our cruise on Riviera in Sept/Oct 2022 the Blue Book never arrived and thus no luggage tags, so I made up a template for Oceania Luggage tags. I print two per piece of luggage, cut them out and tape them to a thin piece of cardboard. This makes it much easier to get them in and out of the sleeve. I have attached the template below.
On that Riviera trip, getting tags at the pier would have been a nightmare as the whole embarkation process was just that. The guy accepting luggage said they were the best tags he had ever seen. 😀
I used them on our recent Sirena cruise too, along with the ones that Oceania sent.

I am 56 days out from my cruise and I booked my air through Oceania. I don't see the flight information on my reservation and when I called United, I was told the ticket had not been issued yet although there is a locator number.
The Oceania website says that tickets are issued 75 days from embarkation. Why doesn't it show on my reservation or am I looking in the wrong place?
It doesn't show up on your reservation on the website. They email your itinerary to you. They should have done it by now. Call Oceania tomorrow and they will.

Is there a way to tell if you are on a shore excursion waitlist, and if so where you are on it? When we booked online many shore excursions were sold out, but one let us check to be on waitlist. Don’t know if that was a glitch or if we are on a waitlist.
The only way to know for sure is to call "O" tomorrow and ask.

Thanks. This morning it was OK. But now not. I am travelling in New Zealand at the moment. I will try again later. I just wanted to book the specialty restaurants...
There is a warning on their website that IT work will be done from 7 - 11 PM EST today. You cannot manage your account during this time.

Aren't those invisible cruises on Vista fully booked? Do cruises with no available cabins show up?
Yes they do.

When this happened to us last July, Oceania arranged for hotel rooms at a reduced rate in the disembarkation city for the remainder of the five day period (at our own expense, reimbursed by travel insurance). The healthy partner arranged own transportation to the hotel; those who were completing the five day isolation were kept separate from other passengers, disembarked last, and transported together to the hotel accompanied by Oceania staff.
It was the same for us last August.

Again, here is the info sent by my TA. She later clarified that it's not 'custom' air, but that's the way she has to submit it. 'Custom' air to us is the same as always, with added deviation fee etc.
There is another option at no cost that Oceania just added to their air program. You can request custom air and arrive up to 3 days early and depart up to 3 days after disembarkation. With this option, you cannot request specific airlines, flights, the time you would like to arrive and depart or early ticketing. You will not be able to request an air arrival at a different port from the embarkation or disembarkation port. You would have to accept the air Oceania gives to you. This has to be requested outside of 90 days prior to the sailing. My understanding of reading the O website is that you can request the changes starting at 270 days before embarkation.

Where is the HS ice cream offered onboard?
With the rest of the ice cream. They offered a different flavor every day.

Received this today from my very good, well connected TA when I asked about the new air deviation fee. But rather than 'custom air', it looks like all they're offering is the option of going early/staying later (up to 3 days) at no additional cost, instead of same day as embarkation/disembarkation.
The new rate begins today for all bookings no matter when you booked. There is another option at no cost that Oceania just added to their air program. Also, no mention of the 90 days before sailing.

Oceania updated their website:
Updated March 1, 2023
Custom air requests for specific airlines, routings, flights, etc can be requested once payment has been made on the booking and no earlier than 270 days prior to sailing. The cost to request custom air is $199 per guest per request plus any applicable air differential.
The $199 service fee is non-refundable once the custom air is accepted.
Yes, it's true.

I tried several flavors, none impressed me. Does anyone else think this was a big food fail for the "Finest cuisine at Sea".
It really didn't strike me as the finest ice cream in the local supermarket freezer.
I never tried it. None of the flavors appealed to me.

When are the shows? I don’t want to make dinner reservations that cause us to miss out. If it matters, we will be on the Sirena.
Thank you!
The shows are at 9:30 p.m..

Has anyone done this excursion and how was it? The description says it includes a mile hike, mostly uphill with footholds. Just wondering how strenuous it is and if the footholds are easy to navigate. Do they take it nice and slow uphill?
We did it and it was a lot more strenuous than they let on. Instead of 3 hikers it should have been a 5, but 3 is as high as they go. It is pretty steep uphill. They do take it easy on you. But it all depends on what kind of shape you are in to begin with. They have drinks waiting for you at the end.

Hi, quick question so do I understand correctly that one has to have at least 20 sailings before qualifying for a free cruise even though one has reached the platinum level?
If you reached platinum level then you will get the free cruise. They go by cruise credits not necessarily by sailings. Some cruises are worth more than 1 cruise credit.

Hi all,
Just curious for those of you who have sailed on Riviera recently how the temperatures are in the public areas on the ship. Chilly or hot? Also what about the cabins ... specifically standard verandah cabins on deck 7 aft.
Many thanks
Wet were always comfortable no matter where we went. No jackets/sweaters needed.

I am on the Regatta May11th California Coastal cruise. I have read that Monterey has been cancelled for all cruise ships. We live in California but have not been to Monterey for many years. Does anyone have any information ? Oceania has not let us know of any changes in itinerary.
Good chance you will be going to Catalina Island (Avalon) instead.

Yes I am on the roll call for this cruise, but it's not seeing much action yet. Hopefully, the cruise line will add some excursions in the future.
