  1. A big thank you for all who have participated in this thread. Most of my questions have been answered.

I maintain a near vegan diet. I say near vegan because I use butter and honey, and on rare occasion fish or seafood.

One question I do have is in regard to the soft serve ice cream. Many restaurants use a non-dairy soft serve but don't advertise it as such. Does anyone know if the soft serve they use on Carnival is non-dairy? The easiest indicator is that the non-dairy usually comes as a powder that they mix with water.

  2. Don't forget to remind new cruisers of the "bathrobe parade" held at lunch time in the buffet area on the first sea day.

Grand prizes include a free 5 day cruise and payoff of your sail and sign card. Lots of fun! For blue card holders only!

This post is a couple days late. It should have been on Sunday.

    Bathrobes

Two bathrobes are provided in all suites and Cloud 9 Spa staterooms and suites. Additional bathrobes will be provided, upon request.

For all other accommodations, upon request, bathrobes will be provided during turndown service on the first evening of the cruise.

If guests wish to purchase our deluxe bathrobes, the price is $49 USD for adult size (one size fits all). On ships that feature our Cloud 9 Spa, special Cloud 9 Spa logo deluxe bathrobes are also available for purchase - the price is $59 USD for adult size (one size fits all).

  4. Cozumel is well known for pier runners. On a previous cruise, when we were in Cozumel, my wife and I stood up on deck 10 watching for pier runners. Sure enough, just as the ship was pulling away from the dock, we saw two women running up the pier, shopping bags in hand, yelling "Wait! Wait for us!" Fortunately for them, the pilot boat came back and got them and gave them a ride out to the ship. I'd be willing to bet they were never late again getting back to the ship.

I wouldn't bet on that. People who are late are usually habitually late for everything. A near miss rarely gets through to them.

  5. I find it interesting how America in general is so afraid that some desert or beach will run out of sand, or some volcano run out of lava rock. My daughter recently visited Italy and took an excursion to Mt Vesuvius. She noticed some children with buckets picking up rocks and asked the tour guide about it, having grown up where doing such could land you in jail. The tour guide told her that the children were there as a school field trip specifically to collect rocks and that they encourage everyone who visits Vesuvius to take home souvenirs from the mountain.

  7. Just a little tip, you will hear a lot of people talk about the fridges in the room not being very cold... and a lot of people say to leave the door open. (they have the fridges "boxed" in so they fight the heat they are generating to stay cold).

Our tip is, my husband reaches in and slides the fridge just far enough forward so that the door will not close all the way... it stays cracked about an inch.

Doing this you don't have to worry about running into the door wide open when you run around, and it vents the fridge just enough to get nice and cold. I too will stash some milk or even a desert for later consumption in my room fridge.;)

I haven't yet been on board, but the pictures I've see look like the cabinet doors have standard quick-release hinges. If so, it only takes pushing forward on the back of the hinges to release the door so it could be left off and stored. Then it is simple to snap it back on at the end of your cruise.

Here is a youtube link on how they work:

  9. If CBP says that those documents aren't acceptable then CCL wouldn't be able to accept them, and they do accept them according to their FAQ. Just because someone works for CBP doesn't mean that they are all knowing or that they can't be wrong like the rest of us. It's highly unlikely that CBP has CBP officers manning their phones (and even all CBP officers won't necessarily know the information either if they haven't worked a sea port of entry).

Just because someone works for CCL doesn't mean that they are all knowing or that they can't be wrong like the rest of us.

CCL has their own requirements, which are not always the same as CBP. CCL's rules are what they require to board the ship. CBP's rules are what they require to return to the US from international travel, which may or may not be enforced at any given port. CBP is more concerned with your re-entry into the US. If a CBP agent is having a good day and has no reason to suspect you are entering illegally or trying to smuggle contraband into the country, they very well may never ask you for, or closely scrutinize, your documentation. If they are having a bad day or have some suspicion, they can detain you until you can produce the required documentation.

It is worth your effort to spend some time on travel.state.gov and cbp.gov/travel

It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
