  1. 10 days before the cruise you should have received an online medical questionnaire, once completed you get your boarding pass.

On the web with your cruise details, if you see these not highlighted, right click on them and press

"Open in new window " your documents may be there.

If all else fails request a call back from Costa (at the top of their website home page) i have done this a lot and they do call back at the time you give them, good luck.

I was very disappointed in my Firenze trip this spring, but the ship was only 1/4 full, there were not enough people to justify hiring a full set of entertainers. It was indeed a same-as-everybody-else experience.

I'll be on Diadema next spring, I've been on that ship before.  If it's not back to normal, then my Costa days are done.

I was on the Diadema a couple of weeks ago, it was all back to normal including the entertainment.

  4. I am boarding in Barcelona to Dubai and will not be getting a test. I booked directly with Costa UK and that's the info i have copied from their UK site. I did a med cruise with Costa about a month ago and you did need the test then. It may be different rules depending which country you are from. On their site the rules are just below the search option on the main page, that part of the page scrolls right to left and the protocols about testing are there.

  5. For your cruise

Countless activities, shows and nightlife await you on board. Unique day trips ashore thanks to our Costa Tours, with new tours added, alternatively you can also go ashore independently. And what about the spa? Massages, pools with thalassotherapy, and every form of wellness treatment.

Discover everything you need to know for your upcoming cruise.

FAQS ON VACCINES AND PRE-BOARDING TESTS

Antigen Test 48 hours before departure

    covid-test.svg

From 8 October 2022, all guests who are under the age of five or immunized against Covid-19 will no longer be required to take a pre-boarding antigen test for cruises in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the United Arab Emirates.

    Covid insurance

    note.svg

It is no longer necessary to have Covid insurance in order to board. However we recommend purchasing one for additional security.

Optional travel insurance should cover the following risks associated with testing positive for COVID-19, which could otherwise result in costs to you: medical and hospital expenses, expenses for extending your stay (board and lodging) on shore for quarantine, expenses for returning home (including by protected means for people who have tested positive or have come into close contact with others who have), refund of the booking fee for disruption to their cruise.

    Web Check-in

    note.svg

Up to 10 days before boarding, you can download your boarding pass and tickets by filling out a simple questionnaire on MyCosta regarding your health.

FAQS ON TESTS DURING THE CRUISE

    Covid Antigen Test

    covid-test.svg

During your vacation you will not have to take an antigen test midway through the cruise, nor have your temperature taken daily.

There is an exception to this rule for stopovers in St. Maarten and St. Vincent in the Caribbean.

    Life on board

    deckplan.svg

In the restaurants and bars, buffets, theater, spa, night clubs, and stores will be like before as protocols adopted ashore, with no limit on the number of people who can occupy the space.

    Masks

Surgical masks are recommended but no longer obligatory .

They remain obligatory for the first seven days of travel for Transoceanic and World Tour cruises.

Discover a new place everyday: you can go ashore independently or you can opt to do so on one of our Costa Tours, accompanied by an exceptional guide.
Guests will need to verify the entry requirements for each country that will be visited during the cruise for Vaccination or recovery validity as well as if any antigen test is required.

  6. When you board the ship, you are required to link your credit / debit card with your room key. I noticed on my last cruise that some customers were doing this with cash through machines, instead of using credit cards. Does anybody know if you can do a mixture of both? So, i put 500euros in cash through the machine and also my credit card details, when the cash runs out will it automatically then charge my credit card, or can you only use one method of payment? Thanks.

Will you be booking the Toscana from Dubai next March. I remember you were doing that in March 2020, and we know what happened then.

No, i will be on Toscana in November from Barcelona to Dubai for 22 nights. Got a good solo price 820gbp for an outside premium cabin with a double bed. I have a transatlantic from Rio to Barcelona in March next year.

  8. Just come off a 15-day round trip from Barcelona via Istanbul on Costa Diadema. I booked an inside guarantee, travelling solo. When they sent me the room documents i was not very happy to find the cabin i was given was a small single bed affair. I did not know Costa had single bed cabins. I rang them up a couple of days before the cruise and asked them to change the cabin so i could have a double bed. They told me they had None available. When on the ship i was surprised that you could not walk down some of the corridors as they had blocked them off, as they could not sell the cabins. I was on level 2 port side and the starboard side was closed off, same on some of the other floors.

The bars seemed busy at night, but you could tell by the numbers in the theatre that they are struggling to sell cabins. Another problem was excursion's, i had a couple cancelled as there were not enough English speakers on the cruise booking the tours. One of the tours was to Istanbul, but that turned out to be a blessing. All i did was get off the ship and walk for about 20 minutes to the Main Mosque and grand bazar, well worth it on foot. As this was a round trip, customers embarked and disembarked at every stop including the island of Crete. There was only a handful, of English-speaking guests on board, a few French and Germans but the vast majority were Italians, don't think there were any Russians on board.

For Costa, this seems to be the perfect storm. First Covid then the war in Ukraine and now the cost-of-living crisis. It would not surprise me if Costa were merged with Aida to save money.

  9. At this time, the agent is more likely to under than the cruise line, Costa is part of Carnival and is safe. In these uncertain times, i would not personally go through a agent, no matter what perks they try to entice me with. Having said that, its your money, do what you think is good for you.

  10. I have done Barcelona to Buenos Aires via Brazil, and the following year Barcelona to Rio, both in November. Once we hit Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands it was hot , hot all the way to Brazil, and on both occasions the seas were very calm all the way there. The route the Costa ship took was to sail Gran Canaria and head south towards the Cape Verdi islands, you could see the islands but we did not stop, the cruise then crossed the Atlantic towards Racife in Brazil. Would have no problems in taking this cruise again.

  11. Check when you booked the cruise. If i remember rightly, you could cancel without any penalty up to 48 hours from departure, depending on when you booked it. They keep changing the rules so its hard to keep up, if you want to cancel give them a ring to see what the rules were when you booked.

Another question: I just got my embarkation time for our cruise leaving exactly in 30 days. Embarkation is already at 10:30, which is a bit earlier than expected. Will the restaurants already be open so early? Is there a problem if one is a bit delayed? We are driving to Savona from Germany and staying the night in Milan, which is about two hours away from Savona. Wondering if we need to plan with a lot of buffer time to make sure we get there exactly at that time or if it does not matter that much if there are traffic delays.

I would have thought that the buffet will be open until 11.00. More than likely that there will customers who boarded on previous days. Embarkation at 10.30, expect to be on the ship in time for lunch service at midday.
