  1. Hi Folks! I guess I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else and how did you feel. I received a Casino at Sea comp for an inside room for 2. Very nice. So I called to book and requested a Haven Suite and I was told I could use the value of the comp toward the Haven, very nice. But, the comps that come with the Haven would not be available to us, only the comps for an inside cabin. I would have thought if I was paying extra for the Haven the comps would come along with it. Just disappointing for me and I have moved on. Anyone else ever run into this situation?

  2. Just off the BA Sunday. We stayed in aft cabin 9922, handicap room due to my DS using a scooter. The aforementioned DS has a snoring issue, the first night I didn't sleep a wink. The second night I took advantage of the large balcony with 3 reclining lounge chairs and two regular chairs. By taking my mattress, blankets and pillows out to the balcony and putting them on a lounger I was able to sleep like a baby. (Don't tell our cabin steward), he must have thought I was the most restless sleeper ever. I would put the matress back in the bed in the morning and tuck the sheets in, not nearly as well as he did but I always put everything back in the cabin. What a wonderful experience it was to sleep under the stars on the ocean. Pulling into to ÑYC Sunday morning I was awoke by jets flying in and out of NY. I was thankful for great rest the last six nights.

  3. I understand you may have had some frustration with your butler but you basically took this person to a public woodshed. The cruise lines and the butlers peers, read these boards. Personally I would have expressed my dissatisfaction directly to the hotel director or would be sending NCL a note.

Did your rant solve the problem?

  4. This is a just a guess but being a business owner of a golf course with a restaurant there is a tax tax advantage as an employer to pay a lower hourly rate and have tips make the wage they can accept. Therefor as an employer the payroll taxes are less. So there maybe a tax advantage for cruise lines to keep wages flat and increase the "tip" amount.

  5. You will love the Haven. DH have stayed Haven style twice and are addicted, so beware. Things I personally loved:

    Peace and quiet.

    Breakfast at Cagneys.

    Afternoon treats.

    Roomy rooms.

M&M's and treats in the courtyard.

Lunch in the Haven courtyard with full service.

    Haven reserved seating for shows.

    Priority enbarkation. (Very nice)

Our butler comped us the Chefs Table. (Experience of a lifetime)

I can not think if one thing negative, it's a wonderful experience, enjoy every second.

  6. We have sailed RCI twice, Holland America once and 6 NCL cruises including the Jewel twice, once in the Haven and once in the Owners Suite. Once you experience the Suite life on NCL there is a very strong possibility this will be the only way you cruise. I really don't have any negatives at all for the OS, you will have quality accomidations, quality service and the most relaxing experience. I hope you enjoy her, welcome to NCL.

  7. We have cruised of NYC in December, January and February. This year we are doing an April cruise. I know the cold on the first day and last day at sea but I've never experienced April. I also am aware the weather can not be predicted that far out but what has been the experience by anyone in April? Is it as cold the first and last day at sea as it is in Dec, Jan or Feb? Just wondering what experience anyone has had in April. Thank you in advance.

  8. Dear friendly and loyal cruisers. I will be taking my DS on the Breakaway in April. She has a situation where she can not walk long distances due to a bad foot. I worry about her ability to walk long distances and I have a couple questions and hope someone in a similar situation can help me. I have cruised 10 times with my DH but not with her.

Beginning with the port in NY, is there a handicap line that would allow her to move along faster?

Can I possibly rent a wheel chair on the ship if she needs it?

When disembarking and embarking the ship at port is there someone that could wheel her down the long dock to and from the ship?

Everyone is always so helpful on the boards, I'm just looking for some answers that can put my mind at ease. I'm not looking for any special privileges, maybe just a little help if she should need it.

    Thank you all.
