Did you find it in the patter? It goes by all types of names from scrap heap challenge to junk yard boat, and beer barge.
I have not looked yet, but now that I see the pictures, I remember seeing that on my last Star cruise but I'm not sure on the Grand cruise last April/May. But when I get the chance I will comb thru the patters and see.

Are they still doing the scrap heap chalenge on this cruise?
Hmmmm, I am going to have to review the patters. I do not remember that:confused:

Like other folks here, I too have done this multiple times, 2 out of L.A. (Golden and Star) and 2 out of S.F (Star and Grand) and I love everything about this cruise. Sea days, ports and ship life. I did a video on my last cruise that shows some fun stuff and sights not normally focused on in ship videos. The link is below if you want to get a flavor for this Hawaiian cruise. Mark

I just did a BVE a month ago and we entered the terminal at 10:50 but did not board the ship till 12:10. The last few BVE's I have done there, we typically boarded somewhere between 11 am and noon. The shrimp and avocado appetizer in the main dining room this last time was amazing!

Out of 14 cruises on Princess, I've only seen the Love Boat Dream in the dining rooms and putting room service trays on the floor of the "narrow" hallways is dumb and dangerous. The room steward always removes these during their next stateroom visit.

The first time I heard that, I thought it might only appeal to us older people (50) but sound hokie to others. I was wrong!

Friends of ours on our cruise from NYC thought the mozzarella was rather tasteless and we agreed.
I have been on the Grand 5 times and agree with everything completely! I am assuming you are talking about the Piazza Pizza and not that awful Pool Pizza?

Maybe the one in the dark is the Star and the one after the sun came up is the HAL ship. Can't imagine the ship just sat there waiting for the sun to come up like they have to do in Kauai.
I kinda thought that too, but the Princess "Sea Witch" on the (huge white arch funnel area) is very lit up. As is the Skywalkers (shopping cart handle) on back, So it's very hard to tell in this picture.

That is actually the M.S. Oosterdam still a great shot. Thanks

Good to hear from you again Dan & Jackie, and Mark & Tricia. Hope you are still enjoying cruises. Mark, thanks for linking your video. You gave me a little inspiration to try a video.
Technology has certainly made things much easier. After watching your video, I saw you didn’t have any shots sailing back under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Lol, thanks and yes I did miss coming back under the gate. I had ran down to the IC to get some coffee and by the time I ran back up, we were already in the bay. Most of the random clips I stitched together for that video were done on my iphone and a gopro strapped to the rail of my balcony. No big expensive production, so I know you can work your magic into something pretty spectacular. Mark

As said there are Taxi's ( a lot of them ) just outside the cruise terminal. I negotiated an all day tour that included the old city. Be sure to stop and enjoy the cruise terminals garden and exotic birds as well.

This is a great video...I’ve highly recommended this to many Hawaii cruisers

Thank you! I am certainly not a filmmaker, but sharing some sights and a little crew fun seemed interesting to me. There are a ton of videos that already show the Grand Princess room by room.

Well heck, since this thread still has life, I might as well offer this link to a video I made from this very same cruise as I was on it too. Enjoy!

Not to preach, but having sailed four times on Princess to Hawaii, I would just settle in and have a good time. Let the crew fuss over maintenance issues since ships are massive maintenance projects anyway. We all know stuff happens!
These Hawaiian cruises from the west coast are awesome, so focus on that...My two cents!:halo:

This "Princess Cough" as you are calling it, is (according to my Kaiser nurse) a widespread "Virus" that takes 10-14 days to come and go in your body. She advised me to take "Musinex DM" and drink plenty of water. Nothing more to do but bring tissues you will need them!

Have a great time! I think the provided blow dryer (above the desk area) works just fine, I wouldn't pack one.
But when you meet the Captain, please don't call the ship a boat, He/she started out on boats and worked their way up to ships. :D

Think it’s time for the Mod to close the thread. :)
I think the OP got all the attention they wanted and never bothered to commented again.
Bait + Hook = Reaction!

Having done 1 Alaska and 4 Hawaiian cruises from the west coast, I would say they are very different cruises and you will have to decide what kind of vacation experience you want. Enjoy either way!

Great video. Now I’m hungry. It looks like you did the Chef’s Table. We plan to do that again.
Weather looked rainy.
Thanks for sharing.
Jessica
Yes we did! I have done it twice in 10 cruises with Princess. The main course selection this time was not my favorite but everything else was wonderful. It only rained at the end when we arrived in Ensenada and up the coast to San Francisco the next day. In fact we had a pretty wild storm and the Captain moved slow up the coast during the peak of it so no-one got hurt or ill. Have a great time!

You are going to have a great time. Here is a link to a video I made from my Grand Princess Hawaii cruise last April. Enjoy

As I said before, we do love the shows. What else is there for us to do in the evenings? We are not drinkers so do not patronize the bars except to listen to GOOD music. We do not like trivia or games on board. DH doesn't gamble so did not want to leave him alone to go into the casino.
Why don't you try one or two shows? You also may like them.
I think it's great!
I was laughing at myself, because I just never seem to make it to the shows and I don't drink, smoke, gamble or do trivia either.
-
I have sailed on the Grand 3 times, Princess over 10 times and while reading your review, I realized you have seen more shows on a ship than I have. I suppose I will have to come down off the upper decks sometime!:D
-
Hmm, I have four family members on the ship, we just talked from Virginia this morning and no mention of this at all. Even after asking "hows the cruise so far"? Hopefully it's contained!

Sorry Princess, nothing on that menu makes me want to pay a cover charge.
