The ship is runnng at 62% speed, A/C issues, dropped ports. I'm not sure I want to even board it on Saturday, remembering the ship that lost all power and was adrift in the GOM for DAYS.
Carnival needs to come clean and offer 100% refunds and preferential rebookings to those who don't want to risk it.
Please check in with us from your cruise and give up updates and rumors...if the internet works for you.

On the bright side, at least the rumors aren't that she's going into dry dock.
I'm almost thinking that going into drydock and getting it fixed once and for all and have one sailing canceled would be better than going on for months missing a port every sailing (if it needs drydock to get fixed). I guess it depends on if it's your sailing that gets canceled or not.

Just got an email from marinetraffic.com that the Magic's current info reported at 10:18 am central time is 14.4 knots and they're just southeast of Turks and Caicos. The map on their website doesn't seem to be updated but that's what the email I got says.

I'm still in vacation mode!
Yep June 16th
I figured you were from your signature but just wanted to make sure we were all talking about the same timeframe.
-
We were on the July 16th sailing!
Do you mean June 16th?

You can still choose both even if your steward doesn't initially offer you that option.just curious- our last cruise with carnival was 3 years and we had our cabin cleaned both in the morning and night- if you choose only the morning they don’t come back until the following morning?? No night service to pick up the used towels and turn down the bed and put the towel animals on the bed??Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S8+ using Forums mobile app

Thanks, I'm following too.

I agree. I just hope the issues can be fixed without drydock whether they are related to each other or not. I know I read about a/c complaints on just about every line, every ship but there have been a lot on this cruise. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they say.I am by no means an engineer...I hope for the sake of our cruise you are.We are being told there are propulsion issues. What does that really mean? What is causing these issues? There may be several problems on the ship right now that we are not privy to. It sure sounds like it.
No matter what the issue is it will have to be taken care of, all we ask is to get some kind of clarification, so we know how to proceed.
I know, I know......we have no rights....they owe us nothing.

I do the same and was thinking that also.I was just asking myself the same thing. I read Mr. Heald's book of Face page everyday and I'm not seeing the similarities.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S8+ using Forums mobile app

Am I missing something? Why do you think ParrotRob is John Heald?I know for sure Mr Heald as it was my boys room and I was able to go in and experience it myself. Not appreciating being called a liar by the Carnival brass

That bolded part is scaring me just a bit.
I agree that doesn't sound good.

Here's the latest from John Heald when someone asked about the Magic status and A/C not working:
"Good morning _____, all is working as normal and it is only the speed of the ship that is for this cruise meaning a change of itinerary. I will have news soon as to any future changes but everyone is on board and having a brilliant time as I hope you will be soon. cheers."

It all depends. As I said, and TomCruise elaborated, there could be a problem with the converter that powers the propulsion motor, which doesn't require a drydock, or it could be a failure of one of the propulsion motor windings, as has happened to Liberty, and this requires a drydock to cut a hole in the hull to remove the motor for repair.
Thanks for the insight.
-
85% speed is about 75% power, which correlates well with the thought that one half of one propulsion motor is not working.
Since the Magic doesn't have azipods, could a fix for this situation still require drydock or is that just for replacing an azipod? I know it's just speculation but does not having azipods help as far as things that would require drydock?

I asked my PVP, who has been awesome by the way, and this was what she said about it:
"The decision for the change to 90 days prior was due to the issues that were being created by cancellations and changes made to reservations."
I have no idea what issues could be created but that's what she said.

I go here if it will let me post a link: http://www.cruisecal.com/portal/

I'm on the Magic sailing 12-23-18 and will be in Cozumel on Christmas day along with 6 others ships. I wonder if any changes will happen for any of those ships.

We're doing a B2B on the Magic out of Miami on December 23 and December 30, 2018. We're staying in the same cabin. This will also be our first cruises. We just wanted to take as long a vacation as we could. I had to do it over Christmas and New Year's so I could use those holidays to give me enough time off for the 2 weeks. We can't wait!

Thanks for the info everybody...much appreciated.

Thanks for the info everybody! I appreciate it. ParrotRob, table 666 is kind of scary. I think I would switch that... Lol. Sorry to hear about your wife's arm.

I'm a first time cruiser with a couple of questions that I'm sure have been answered before so I apologize for the redundancy. Also, these aren't really important just more of being curious. We have 6pm assigned dining in the main dining room. When do we find out what table we've been assigned to? Do I go ask the maitre d when we get on board what our table number is? Then, when it's time for dinner, do we just walk in and go to our table or do we have to wait to be seated like at a land restaurant? I realize there'll probably be a line so we can't just walk right in, but I think you understand what I'm asking. Thanks for the info.

Just this morning my online check-in changed to being unavailable until 90 days before sailing. I'm really curious why they did this as being able to input your information or make changes online early was helpful and I can't imagine why it would be a problem or hassle for Carnival. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait.

We booked our February 23, 2019 cruise on April 4, 2017. I did all of the check-in information at that time. When they implemented the "Check In" appointment time slots and limited it to 90 days prior to the cruise, the date that I could do it appeared right next to the words "Check In" in that blue box. From that point on, I can't even get in to looking at my luggage tags. It says "Check In Online Available November 25, 2018."
I booked our 12-23-18 cruise on 3-5-18 and did the online check in that same day except for selecting an arrival appointment time for the terminal as that option didn't show up. I can still get to all of my check in information including previewing luggage tags and don't have the date message. The option for selecting an arrival appointment time still doesn't show up but all my check in info and access still looks like it did the day I did it in March. Weird how everybody doesn't see the same thing.

Thanks for the update. That would be about 18.7 knots which is still below normal cruising speed but maybe since they already eliminated St. Thomas, there's no need to go full cruising speed. Maybe it's fixed. As far as the A/C goes, there are people complaining about it on pretty much every cruise no matter the ship or the cruise line, some hot, some cold, some fine. I'm not sure what to think about it.
