  1. I still haven’t gotten official notice but my TA did. He’s got our same aft JS on hold for  an alternate sailing date and will finalize the move next week. We’re picky about cabins and have limited availability to travel so I’m grateful for the social media that alerted me to this cancellation and the quick response of my TA to make the change. All well that ends well ☺️

  2. I saw on a RC blog site that some Mariner sailings next year are being cancelled. We are booked on an Aug 2023 sailing and when I checked  my dashboard, it does say the sailing is cancelled. We haven't gotten a notice from Royal yet. I've messaged my TA for confirmation. It looks like they will price protect to a comparative alternate, which could work for us since checking the Royal site - the advertised prices are almost double what we paid. Hoping to get official notification soon. Has anyone gotten notice?

  3. We had a GS on Jewel recently and yes you can hear noise from above but it wasn’t a big issue for us. Noticeable but not enough to keep us awake. On pool party night you could hear the music but again we didn’t let it bother us. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
Our only problem with the suite was the tub you practically needed a step stool to get in. And if you’re tall like DH you can’t stand straight up to shower bc the ceiling is so low. Really poor design imho.

  4. With almost everyone vaxxed and negative tests on a sailing, we really do feel safe, we just prefer to continue to be cautious. We always do MTD but since resuming cruising have mostly been avoiding the MDR b/c of the close positioning of tables. We did dine there a few times on a recent Jewel sailing and they were asking guests if they were willing to share a table. We said no and were able to get a 4-top table in a corner for the two of us, with no one else sitting less than 6 feet away. They will do their best to honor guest preferences. We're planning to make the same request on the Vision next week.  🤞

  5. We've always had to ask unless we're in a full suite but have always gotten them. In a balcony and JS we get Gilbert & Soames. In the full suites it's the Malin & Goetz. Lately they've had them in the big dispensers attached to the tub/shower, not the little tubes. We also have to ask for laundry bags and sometimes even robes, but they are always promptly delivered 🙂

So you think a screen shot from Facebook is more *official*?

just that theoretically anyone can make up a so-called "quote" and say they are whoever they want to - showing the actual FB post makes it "official". I wasn't doubting the info and like Ken said above, his statement is public enough now so having "proof" it was made is no longer necessary. I'm just happy to be keeping my double points!

It is the very first post of this thread

Yes, I read it but that was a copy/paste. I was hoping someone would have something more official - like a FB screenshot. But I guess enough people have talked about this publicly now that Royal can't backtrack 😜 I'll wait and confirm w/ my TA if I don't get a direct email from Royal.

Good luck getting anything in writing.  When you cannot even get a written notification that they have cancelled your cruise for a refund or  cancellation number I highly doubt you will ever see anything in writing about the double points.  The best you can do is take a screenshot of MB's FB post and save that.

Any chance that screenshot could be posted here for those of us (me) who aren't on FB?

  9. I just got an email from our TA saying our Serenade sailing for tomorrow (Jan8) has been cancelled. Haven't gotten official notification yet, but I was unable to do the health questionnaire this morning. Super bummer 😭

As a result of the ongoing COVID-related circumstances around the world, and in abundance of caution, we have made the tough decision to pause operations on the following ships:

    • Jewel of the Seas sailings from Jan. 9 – Feb. 12, returning on Feb. 20, 2022
    • Serenade of the Seas sailings from Jan. 8 – March 5, resuming service after her dry dock on April 26, 2022
    • Symphony of the Seas sailings from Jan. 8 – Jan. 22, returning on Jan. 29, 2022
    • Vision of the Seas’ return to cruising is postponed until March 7, 2022

  10. Dining gratuities are part of the daily gratuity charge. As far as dining in CK - it varies but usually they will allow you to make no more than one or two reservations at a time if you're in a JS.  Go there once you're onboard to see what times are available. We've had good luck getting reservations by dining either very early or very late. The more flexible you are, the better chance you have of getting in. Good luck!

My experience being in a JR and CK is be prepared to eat early, like 5 or late and you'll have a better chance of getting in

that's also been our experience, although it can vary by ship, depending on availability. If you like lobster definitely try to go that night - it's SO much better in CK than the MDR

  12. Having a travel agent doesn't always help - I tried for almost 6 months to get multiple FCC issues resolved: the TA said they're "working on it" but Royal wasn't following through; I'd call Royal and they couldn't help b/c I had a travel agent. After months of this w/ only minor resolutions to a few of the multiple issues, I finally complained loud enough that the TA allowed Royal to talk to me directly. After lengthy phone calls yesterday and today, the issues seem to be resolved. The TA still has to apply the FCCs and additional payments so it's not over yet. I wish CC would allow TA recommendations. I love our booking agent but the TA customer service dept is the pits. We have too many upcoming cruises to switch over now, but when 2023 booking season opens up, I will be looking for a change.
