Hello all, My wife and I generally love the food on board the various ships. We were having a discussing about how the dishes are being prepared. Are the MDR meals made from fresh ingredients, or are they premade, frozen and reheated? For example, we had duck a l'orange on a cruise about a month ago - it was delicious! I wonder if the entree' was frozen and then reheated or if they literally make everything from scratch. We were just wondering how much of the food was processed, if any! Thanks!

No, we do not all know what you are referring to. As a person who travels to SF at least twice a year to visit friends and family, I would like you to let us know what happened that warranted an early departure for your friends.

Hello all, My wife and I are thinking of taking an Alaskan cruise in late September/early October. Our one and only concern is RAIN. We used to live in Vancouver, BC so we are used to that type of rain. We currently live in Texas which has downpours. We can deal with the BC rain, but not downpours. Based on experience, what is the weather like at the Alaskan port-of-calls during these months? Thank you,

I believe the DJ onboard is DJ Bababooey. He is quite the riot. I THINK the musical group is the H&R Duo (Howard and Robin). Fred is the violinist.

Hello all! My wife and I have taken several cruises and we always attend the Q/A with the officers. Inevitably, someone will ask what happens to all the food waste that amasses on board. Every single time the response was the same: They grind it down and feed it to the fish at sea. We were recently on a Celebrity Cruise where someone asked the above question. The officer's response was that they grind it down, dehydrate it and then burn it. They claimed it was better for the environment. I understand not wanting to give human food to marine life, but then to pollute the air with smoke? Those emissions also eventually make their way back into to water. While not wanting to get into a debate, I was curious to know what the "industry standard" is now for food waste. Maybe it differs from line to line? Ship to ship? Cheers,

Hello! My wife and I took a cruise a few years and the singers on board were fantastic! They were called P and K Duo (Phil and Keisha) and they were from Italy. Are they still with NCL?

As an aside, does anyone know about low long the tender is from the ship to the actual port in Monterey?

Hello all! I will be taking a Celebrity cruise that begins and ends out of Los Angeles Cruise Port (San Pedro). At the end of my cruise, I am wanting to maximize my day in LA. That said, if I do self-carry and try to be one of the first ones off the ship, about how long does it take to clear immigration and customs? Thanks!!
