- (if you are 70 and healthy you can cruise)
No. Good luck finding a doctor to sign the form RC requires.
a. Effective Monday, March 16, boarding will be denied to any person age 70 or older, unless the guest provides written verification from a qualified treating physician that certifies the person has no severe, chronic medical condition and is fit to travel.
b. Effective Friday, March 13, boarding will be denied to any person with a severe, chronic medical condition, including those specified by the CDC. Guests of all ages will be screened prior to boarding, regarding underlying health issues that may prevent them from sailing, i.e. chronic heart, lung, liver, or kidney disease, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, or cancer.

This policy was developed in a time of crisis and national emergency. It is not going to survive once this pandemic is over. You cannot deny public accommodations to people because of disability.
I agree with you here but being 70 and over isn't a disability, is it? 🙂
Cheers! 🍸🍸

I am sure this rule will be challenged in court as soon as practical.
Yup

It will be interesting to see how this is resolved or if it gets resolved. Nobody is cruising anytime soon anyway.

It doesn't matter what the source of the note is, at the end of the day it's just a "thing". It can't change an outcome. People that know they have an underlying condition...a note won't change that. A note can't guarantee anything. That was my point.
I agree

Right. The note is just a thing, a public performance, to show they did something but really it won't change an outcome.
RC didn't come up with these guidelines on their own they were taking "guidance" from government agencies who are no doubt not just looking out for the public's interest they also have an interest in looking like they are doing something.
To comply with guidance from CDC, WHO, public health authorities around the world, and the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), we are enhancing our rigorous global boarding and screening measures to protect our guests and crew. These measures are intentionally conservative and apply to anyone boarding our ships, guests and crew alike. We apologize for the inconvenience created by these precautionary measures.

I see plenty of folks over 70 who tip the scales at a high level.
I also see plenty of passengers under 70 who tip the scales at a high point .

That should put the finishing touch on sinking the industry. Just think, the cruise lines market themselves as a relaxing and luxurious vacation but, just in case, you need a physician to sign off stating that you are physically capable of handling it. Besides the fact that doctors won't put themselves at risk by signing, it doesn't create a sense of well being for the potential customer.
Sitting on a lounge chair by the pool while sipping an adult beverage and reading or napping can be very taxing. 🙄
Going to be lots of mostly empty ships in the future if they start denying boarding to every at risk passenger.

They should also require a doctor's note for all those severely overweight folks. 😇
One of the most at risk segments of the general population from the virus.

Little know fact, people have been known to lie on their heath questionnaire to get on the ship.
How exactly are they going to check everyone's health status at check in? Have a medical team at the terminal to examine every passenger. Are they going to examine everyone boarding a plane, train, bus?

Seventy was an arbitrary number cooked up by a bunch of panicked bureaucrats using incomplete and/or inaccurate data. Even the people who are supposed to know about these things are admitting the models were and are all wrong.
Most of the fatalities involve underlying health conditions.

I think they may have to revise the age limit downward. Looks like the virus affects many of those under 70.

If they don't change the 70 year old needs a note from your doctor rule i won't be cruising at all, ever.

No where in this guideline from the CDC is there a recommendation to go to the hospital if you suspect you have COVID-19.

Class schedule varies depending on port schedule, cruise length and number of sea days.. I didn't check the schedule for the yoga classes so I can't help you there.

Most taxi drivers can point you to a decent hotel. Just ask.

I'm curious in a situation like this how they handle staffing the terminal/pier. With only the Anthem sailing in the winter, this can only be a part-time job for them as they only work one day a week. And now they have to work three days this week(Sunday, Monday & Saturday).
If they are not working the cruise ships they are probably working freight or one of the other cruise terminals in NY.

I don't know how it is on other ships that have Coastal Kitchen but on the Beautiful Anthem of the Seas if you see something on the menu for the main dining room your server will try and get it for you. We have done this many times. They really do aim to please.

Much better since only Suite and Pinnacle allowed in. Marvin or Willie had our drinks to us before we sat down every night.
