I'm starting to plan out what I'm going to do for the 10 Night Ultimate Southern Caribbean this fall. According to the itinerary, these are the ports of call:

    • Day 4 - St. Johns, Antigua
    • Day 5 - Castries, St. Lucia
    • Day 6 - Bridgetown, Barbados
    • Day 7 - Fort De France, Martinique
    • Day 8 - Basseterre, St Kitts & Nevis

Of these ports, Celebrity isn't listing any excursions for Fort De France, Martinique at this time. Maybe I shouldn't worry this much, but with the cruise just over 140 days away, I'm surprised that there aren't any offerings for this port of call.

If you are in Fort De France on a Sunday everything is closed.  We were there years ago on a Sunday and were only off the ship for a walk around a closed town.  It is on my list to do again because it was very beautiful.

If the total cost of your trip is $10,000, you should look elsewhere. Get a quote from one of the websites that sell travel insurance like insuremytrip. Yours comes in under $1,000.

We have an Alaskan Trip scheduled for July and I estimated the cost at $10,000 including the flights and our insurance for 2 of use is $962.

I have a unique situation when I cruise which may fit under the topic of "chair reserver".  First, my husband is blind. I look on my own for 2 chairs together and place my towels and some belongings on each. Then I leave to get my husband from the room. I have at times clipped a copy of his disability car placard and a short note letting people know I will be returning. We spend most of our time by the pool. There are times when I need to take my husband back to our room to use the bathroom which takes longer. The note on the disabled sign does help. I am open to suggestions for better ways to handle this.

If you see a pool attendant I would explain to them your situation so he can help save your space.  I am happy to hear you are not letting his disability stop you from enjoying life.

  4. We are booked for Alaska in July and hoping they will be past of us being tested before we get on the ship. We are doing 3 days land before the cruise and will have to do the tests offered by Celebrity because it has to be done before we get on the ship, not before we begin our trip,  so we can't do at home.  I checked Seward for a place to have it done and it is more expensive.

We are seasoned cruisers (20 sailings on DCL) but next summer will be our first Celebrity cruise (Eclipse to Alaska in a Celebrity Suite).  I'm curious to know your thoughts on best time to book shore excursions?   When sailing Caribbean or Canada, we always do our own thing, but with the uncertainty of requirements next year and Alaska being a very different sort of destination, I thought it would be a good idea to select Celebrity excursions in case we cannot book alternate options.

Do they ever go on sale?  (This is just not a thing with DCL)

Are you able to cancel for a refund if you change your mind?  (I understand you need to pay for them when you book - also different from DCL).

Any other tips/thoughts?  This is such a great group and I've learned so much from you already!

I have booked shore excursions and if they go on sale I cancel it and rebook at the new price.  Never had any trouble.

  6. We have a 10 day on January 4, 2021 to the ABC and they still haven't cancelled it.  I wish they would get it done.  We are going to take our money back.  The cruise was for our 30th anniversary and could use the money to celebrate another way.  It is irritating that they are cancelling later cruises before ours.  And I can't cancel my flights until the cruise is cancelled.  My travel agent hasn't heard anything yet on our trip.

  7. Does anyone know if you can transfer FCC from Celebrity to Royal Caribbean?  We have a cruise scheduled for Jan 3, 2021 and it doesn't sound like it will be a go so I am looking at a land and sea experience for Alaska.  Celebrity doesn't have a land and sea but Royal does so I would like to take the FCC if they allow it to be transferred.  Anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks for any insight.

I should be sailing on Equinox now...departure was to be a week ago today from Ft. Lauderdale sailing the ABC Islands.  I have spent every day thinking about what could have been.  As disappointed as I am, I can look forward to the re-booked cruise for January (yes, I believe we will sail).

Thankful that friends & family have remained healthy and I still have a job to pay for the three cruises I have booked for next year.

We are booked for the January 4th trip.  It is to celebrate our 30th anniversary.  So need this vacation!

  9. We just off of Allure, cabin 10595 and LOVED IT!!!  We actually had 3 cabins in a row with son, daughter in law and grandchildren.  We had the partitions between the cabin balconies opened and loved being able to get to each cabin that way.  It was so peaceful and calm and enjoyable.
