When you google photos of steaks in chops you never see a steak presented like this. We all thought there was a problem. It looks like it is surrounded by the steak fat.
-
This was the 12oz New York strip my cousin was served in "Chops" this past Tuesday on the grandeur of the seas. I have never been to Chops so I don't know what their steaks look like.
Is this how they are served? There were 6 of them at dinner and all but one was served their steak exactly like this.
Comments please!

I am sailing in the allure in February 2016 and I just found out that the cruise will be during mardi Gras.
Has anyone cruised during mardi gras? And does royal do anything special?
Thanks

Wow, thank you so much Chris for this great review and picture cruise.
It is going to be really hard to wait until February 2016 before I can board this beautiful ship.
I do have a few questions.
1. Are there life vests in each cabin? I had heard that they are not, that if there is an emergency you need to all go someplace to get them. I envision total confusion.
2. I know there are specialty restaurants that charge a fee, but what else do you pay for on this ship? Like breakfast at Johnny rockets? Zip line, ice skating, cotton candy? Are the hot dogs free?
3. Is there a charge for any of the shows? Comedy show?
4. If you choose assigned dining instead of my time, do you sit in the main dining on the first floor or can you sit in the balcony area?
5. From what deck, which end, do you disembark at the various islands.
I have cruised a lot but never on such a big ship with so much offered.
Thanks so much and sorry for all the questions. Hope you are enjoying your last night.

Chris.....I compared the "Painkiller" vs the "bushwacker" and the Bushwacker won big time. Definitely have to have a couple.

Hi Mary ~ I am a Boardwalk balcony fan. Having sailed on Oasis class 9 times (7 Oasis sailings and twice on Allure) this type of balcony is my 'go to' cabin for a few reasons.
When I sail on one of the Big Sisters unique ships in themselves I like to choose a cabin that you can only experience on this type of ship. I am lucky enough to cruise often enough and save the ocean view balconies for other ships.:) That is my personal thinking on the matter :)
I think the Boardwalk offers the best of both worlds. A view of the ocean and the activity of the Boardwalk. I have never been bothered by the noise and when there is noise it is minimal.
My favorite deck is deck 11 and the best cabin in my eyes is 11329 or 11729 the very last aft boardwalk balcony. My first choice would be 11329 port side as it is the same side you can wave to the webcam from that large public balcony like Bugsy ( Chris and friends) did on Sunday. You are steps away from the large public balcony that is rarely used during the day. Deck 12 offers this as well.
Curiously I have never been able to secure that cabin 11329 but have stayed in 11327, 11325 and twice on deck 10 in similar cabins.
This is the sunset view as we sailed away on Oasis from 11325
Emmy,
Just confirmed cabin 11329 for our sailing in 2016. Thank you so much for your suggestions.

If you have an OV (Oceanview) balcony, I think you are looking at the ocean and won't be able to see Central Park.
On that cruise I was in 11323......on Oasis I was in 12325.....Are you sure it was a photo from my balcony? Dale was across the way from us.....same deck but he was starboard. We had a very similar view.
Yes, his post said he was in breeezy's cabin.
Thanks so much.

I have stayed in both Central Park and Boardwalk. Central Park is definitely quieter. Some of the shows do go a little late in the Aqua Theatre, but I always enjoyed coming back to my room and watching whatever was going on. The carousel does not run late and was NEVER a problem with any noise at anytime. I love being able to see the ocean from my boardwalk balcony, but it is a little louder on that end. Don't get me wrong, it is not HORRIBLY loud at all....it was always enjoyable to see all the happenings below!
Thanks breezy......I am reading "MrFunInTheSun" review and he took a photo from your balcony. That view is awesome. Would you mind telling what your cabin number was.
Loving this "live" review. Can't wait to see what next.

Loving this review. We are not sailing on the allure until february 2016 but I like to plan ahead and pick premium cabins while they are still available.
Maybe some of you or Bugsy can help with our cabin location. We are interested in either the Central Park or boardwalk view with balcony.
At first I was thinking Central Park would be quieter but then seeing one of Bugsy's photos of the boardwalk area cabins I thought those would be great as you could see the ocean from some of them.
Does anyone know how late the carousel goes and also how late the aqua theatre has shows. We are not stay up late people so like a room that is relatively quiet after 10pm or so.
Can't wait for more pictures. They have been great.

Thanks for all the information. I love cruising and have plenty of vacation days but to be honest I don't think we would drink enough to make up for a 10 night cruise. We will just have them add up as we go. Thanks again.
-
After I cruise in September I will only be 10 nights away from being a
Diamond status. Is it worth it to take a 10 night cruise so that I will be
Diamond for when we sail on the Allure in February 2016?
Does the Allure offer any special perks for Diamond? Is there a Diamond lounge on the Allure?
Thanks for any advice.

I can't seem to find any photos of the outside cabins facing forward on the allure. Royals website shows round windows like a large porthole. But when looking at photos of the ship from the outside those windows look long, more floor to ceiling not round.
Can anyone please help clarify? Thanks

That is my problem. It is the one girls grandparents and her uncle but they all have different last names, so is carnival going to believe me. I don't know what she can bring to prove these people are actually related.
-
So once they are on board guest services will just change their rooms and change keys and charge account without any problem? They won't care that their granddaughter is under 21.
I was thinking the girls could sleep in the same cabin but then they would always have to be together because the younger girls key would not work for that cabin.
-
We have a group of people cruising in January. Everyone is related somehow like cousins, uncles, aunts and grandparents. My question is that I have girls who want to go and want their own cabin but they are ages 21 and 20. Now the 20 year olds grandparents are traveling but their last names are not the same.
Can these girls have their own cabin and what proof or documentation would they need to prove these are their grandparents.
When I read carnivals minor policy and it says that if someone is under 21 they must be in a cabin with someone over 25. It also states that boarding will be denied and they will lose 100% of the cruise rate.
Any suggestions

Normally bottles of champagne have been the prizes.
How do you email a cruise director? Where do you get their email?
-
Everyone going on my cruise that has a twitter account has tried tweeting the CD but no response. Anyone else know how to get in touch with Gary brierly?
-
Thought I would comment on this now to see if anyone lately has had
the Quest on their sailing.
-
i've always understood its up to the cruise director. i do not know if it is currently or will be on conquest for that date, but your cruise director will be gary brierley. looks like he has a twitter @Gbrierley83.
Thanks flakcor, I'm going to tweet him

Must better when they do the adult version at midnight.
We have seen the asst CD run it but seems to be made on a cruise by cruise basis on each ship.
Ha ha. I know what you mean by the adult version. So funny. We actually had naked men dancing around the dance floor when I was in the Glory.
I always book a group and it mainly consists of about 25 to 30 of my daughter and sons friends who's age ranges from 20 to 35 so this is something they always look forward to. These kids per say are the reining champions for the past 3 years. So if they don't have it this time, all #%}^}* will break loose.

Im sailing in the conquest in January 2014 and one of my favorite things about sailing on carnival is the Quest game show. Can anyone verify that they still have this game on the carnival ships?
I also read somewhere that it is up to the cruise director whether he wants to host it or not. Well and someone tell me who would the cruise director be on the conquest, January 12, 2014 and how I would be able to get hold of him.
For those of you that have not attended one of these shows, either on RCCL or Carnival you don't know what you are missing.
Any info an out this would be very helpful
Thanks

Cruznqueen, I see on the Fun Times for Friday (2nd Sea day - Day six) a Scavenger Hunt at 9:30am at Cafe Fans Deck 5 and a Digital Scavenger Hunt Lobby 3 Fwd at 11:30am. On Saturday (Last Sea Day) "The Conquest Amazing Race" at 11:30am Lobby 3 FWD. These are the only events on the on the FunTimes similar to what you are asking about. I did save all of them and looked through them. I hope you have a wonderful time in December on the Conquest.
Thanks for checking. I kinda have a feeling carnival is not doing it too much any longer. It is definately an 11pm or midnight kind of event.
-
Great review. We sail on the conquest in January.
Do you remember if they had the show "the quest" on your sailing. It is an adult scavenger hunt that is normally scheduled for 11pm or so.
