Hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA are usually a good value, with nearby shopping and dining options.  Hampton inn, Homewood Suites, etc. La Quinta East is likely your best bet for a budget place near the airport, or follow the above advice and rent a car to stay farther out.

    Thank you!

That weekend is Ultra Music Festival. Massive house/techno music concert. Hundreds of thousands of people a day. It used to take place in Downtown Miami, this year it moved to Key Biscayne, but Downtown Miami (port area hotels) will still be the most popular spot for concert goers to stay.

March on its own is a very popular time to be down here regardless.

You may find cheaper hotels a bit further away in say Surfside or Sunny Isles Beach. Miami Beach and Downtown/Brickell hotels are in heavy demand that weekend. Even hotels that are usually $75/night are asking over $250+ that weekend.

    Thank you for your help.

Dates?  Budget?  Who is travelling?  Flying into MIA or FLL? What time do you arrive?

If you are arriving late and just want a room, hotels near the airport can be a money saving option.

Arriving March 29 - before lunch.  So, would like to have a room closer to South Beach to maybe spend the day there before boarding the ship on March 30.  Just me and my husband travelling.  Would like to stay around $300 level if possible.

  4. We did the nine-night ABC island Navigator cruise this past March. Have been on most of the Royal ships and this one did not disappoint. Would have no problem going back whatsoever. No, it is not Oasis class; so if that is what you are looking for, you might be disappointed. However, I would highly recommend Navigator, especially since you will be on her after the refurbish.

  5. The last two cruises we were on (January 2018/Independence and March 2018/Navigator), there were no customs forms. We inquired about them at Guest Services before getting off the ship and were told they were no longer needed. We were asked nothing when going through customs in Ft. Lauderdale in January. When we went through customs in Miami in March we were only asked if we had any alcohol in our luggage. We could have had a whole bushel of apples and no one would have known!

  6. If you took a taxi South to see salt, slave huts, and flamingos - that'll take about an 1.5 hours. You can always ask your taxi driver to take you to Sorobon and wait for you. The standard cost for a South tour via taxi is $40 per person. I'm sure you could work something out with them to stay longer at Sorobon.

Are taxis available for the return trip from Sorobon if the driver just drops you off?

  7. If you take a taxi to see the salt flats and flamingos and then asked to be dropped off at Sorobon Beach, how long would the salt flats/flamingo tour take and how much time would that leave for Sorobon Beach? Also, what would the approximate cost be?

  8. We have tried to book the golf carts but they are all booked up the day we are there. Has anyone ever rented a car? Is or recommend? Pros/cons? Any suggestions?
