  1. We also used Resort for a Day and it worked out great. The only problem we had was finding where to meet them at the port (although probably our fault). As I recall, there were adequate places to change clothes without having a room. All in all, a fun day and a beautiful place.

  2. We have a cruise booked for November of this year and received the e-mail yesterday about the gratuities increasing on May 1 and extending us the opportunity to prepay our gratuities before April 14 and keep the existing rate. My question is, can we just pay the gratuities and not make any other payment? Final payment is not due until September and we always wait until a couple of weeks before it is due to make the payment. We have MTD; and I was under the impression that gratuities were always prepaid with this option, but I do not see on my booking confirmation where any were paid. Any thoughts?

  3. Rainbow gets too crazy on a ship day, jetskis and loud music are not my cup of tea.

Sandcastle is a bit expensive for food, otherwise it's perfect. Very relaxing and peaceful with beautiful views and great snorkeling.

Thank you! Does this require a day pass? How long to get there? Any other information you could provide?

  4. Just happened upon your review and was wondering if by chance you see this if you could tell me which AI resort in St. Lucia you like. We are trying to make plans for our upcoming cruise on the Adventure in February. We have tried the Rendevouz but they are booked up, and I am having trouble getting in touch with Sandals. We have done the Pitons thing before and the Spencer Ambrose tour to the beach below the Pitons, so we would like to do an AI fairly close to the pier if possible. Thanks in advance for any recommendations you might have!

  5. Does anyone have contact information for this resort other than the 800 number for all Sandals? I would prefer an e-mail address, but a phone number would work. The one I found online doesn't seem to work for me and I cannot find an e-mail. I am looking for information about day passes at this resort. Any info will be appreciated.

  6. Thank you! We have been there a few times before and did island tours, etc. Just wanting to do a relaxing day this time without having to travel too far from the ship. Really wanted to go to Rendezvous but couldn't get in. Had heard some really great things about it. We are placed on their waiting list, but not optimistic about it. We might check out one of the Sandals. Thank you, again!

  7. We are looking for somewhere to spend the day in St. Lucia and would like to go to a Luxury resort. We have tried Rendevoux, but they do not currently have availability. There would be two couples. Looking for suggestions, and would like something fairly close to the port. We will be there in February, 2016.

  8. Thank you! That is what I thought, but wanted to make sure. We had booked a balcony for our next cruise and had decided to go to a Promenade room since the price was much cheaper, but we waited too long to make the change and no promenades were available when we made our final payment yesterday. Magically, today (after final payments were due) there were promenades available! Oh well, we weren't sure we could stand not having a balcony anyway, so now I guess we won't have to worry about that! (Although the downgrade to the promenade would have taken care of our air fare ):

  9. Just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something -- I'm not seeing any short cruises leaving from anywhere other than Miami or Port Canaveral. Are there any cruises of any length leaving from Tampa anymore? I'm looking for something for a small group cruise sometime in either June of 2016 or the fall of 2016, and some of the group might prefer to drive to the port instead of fly. Any suggestions? I see the Enchantment and Majesty cruises, just looking for something other than those, if possible.

  10. I've enjoyed reading all the responses to this thread. Our first cruise was on Nordic Empress in either 1994 or 1995. That started a true addiction - approximately 20 cruises since then. I don't remember being escorted to the cabin, or being offered a glass of champagne, but I do remember the entire staff being there to introduce themselves and point you in the right direction. It also seemed as though the Cruise Director and his staff never slept. They were the last ones you saw at night and the first ones in the morning and at every activity throughout the day and evening. I also remember a "hostess" who introduced you to the captain, etc. I also honestly don't remember the passenger lists. I will have to go through some of my things to see if I have any of those as it would be interesting to see. I don't remember even being given a choice of dining at a two-top. You were just automatically paired with other tablemates, and we truly had some wonderful people at our table for many years. We do usually do MTD now, though, and usually sit at a two-top. The first time we went to Labadee, probably in 1996 or so, there was absolutely nothing there except some very modest restrooms. I remember them being very dark and a Haitian lady in there asking for tips for paper towels. I think she was also braiding hair. There was also the "garage" as some have described it with the trinkets for sale on the way back to the ship. Even though there was nothing there, I wish it was still like this. Too commercialized now for me with zip lines, roller coasters, etc. Who needs all this on a "private island"? Oh, well! I do miss the overall "experience" that cruising used to be, but we're still hooked and will continue to cruise as long as we can.

  11. Just wondering if anyone knows of an e-mail address to ask about an item left on the ship. We were on Jewel last week and we left a pair of flip flops. Not a huge deal, but maybe it is worth a shot to at least inquire. Any advice would be appreciated.

  12. We have lived in GA since 2001. DH is a pilot. He says you should be fine if you are going that early especially if you are the first flight of the day for both the planes and the crews. There are several flights after the early ones out of Atlanta, so if you have a delay you can always get on the next one. Our nasty t-storms are usually in the afternoon/early evening.

Go for it and have an awesome trip!

Oh, thank you so much! Just the positive information I needed - I think we'll do it!

  13. Our flight is the first one out of Nashville at 5:30 am connecting in ATL. There are other flights after that and, no, it is not the day of the cruise. It is the day before - we never do that unless no other options! And, it is in two weeks, so pretty much the only weather worry would be thunderstorms ( I know, this is very possible)! I'm a little apprehensive, but really want to try it. Just wondering what others may have experienced.
