Here, folks - "T" minus 1 except many of us on the Roll Call aren't biting the bait.

Me:  "well, hon ... wanna go for a double sink bath w. a tub"

DW: "really, we can still bid ?  I thought the bidding was over yesterday at 2 days out"

Me: "cough, cough ... apparently, not.  Or, could be a computer error - with so many club balcony suites still available tomorrow & vacant"

We bid on Haven rooms and are on the fence about Club Balcony.  Our regular balcony is mid ship on deck 9 close to the stairs so we have easy access to deck 8 (District Brew House and other things on the Waterfront). Decisions, decisions...

I'm glad to hear this. I've stayed in the Vibe during all of my NCL sailings except my first one. I only had one lackluster experience in there when I sailed on the Bliss in Feb 2020. The staff was very nice but the attention/service was definitely lacking.

who is working in the Vibe on Joy?!?!  We love Vibe!  Can't wait until next month (NYC to Bermuda)!

We thoroughly enjoy the Hog Penny Pub. Our first meal was in August of 2009. And we have been going ever since. We a going to Bermuda in June (we sail in 73 days).

The walk to Hog Penny from Front Street Hamilton is a bit steep but well worth it.

Hog Penny has the best fish chowder!!!

Cruise lines aren’t taxed as a USA company. Can you please show me anything in writing that indicates consumers would be protected under the Fair Credit act in the case of cruise line solvency? I’m not trying to be difficult, but the way I read the language it isn’t apparent. As mentioned, I’m genuinely curious.

Are you talking stocks or reservations?  Stocks are never "protected" - it's like gambling...  I would think reservations would be slightly protected if they go bankrupt or via conditions of credit card..

I was just looking on the NCL website and there are more restaurants and bars listed then I have previously seen.

Cagneys and Le Bistro, Hazuki (Teppanyaki replacement) and Palomar (Med seafood) are listed as speciality restaurants.

MDRs look like they are Hudsons and the Commodore Room and there is also a surfside cafe and grill, which I assume is the buffet.

    Lots more bars listed too.

    https://www.ncl.com/uk/en/cruise/prima/dining-bars

Very excited about the "Tapas Truck", we love Pinchos on the Escape!

  6. Has anybody found deck plans for the Prima?  We are booked in a cabin on deck 9, while going back to check on it, I could not find the plan.  I think we booked it thinking it would be close to things we want (we like to book on deck 8 or 9 on Breakaway class so we are short walk to the Oceanfront - specifically deck 8 forward on Bliss/Escape to be close to The District Brewhouse!).

  7. Does anybody know if the OBC is per stateroom or per shareholder.  For example, I have 100 shares and my husband has 100 shares - would we get $200 (per person?) or would it would just be $100 because we are in the same stateroom.  Of course that would be great if we ever took family on a cruise in another stateroom.

I mean, I just have a hard time justifying an extra 500.00 for 2 people for this package, I think if I just paid the difference, it probably wouldn't add up to 500.00.

Totally reasonable.  So far we have not upgraded to the premium package but have paid the upcharge for drinks.  We may do it in the future for an anniversary or something but my husband mainly drinks beer and cocktails for me with the exception of wine with dinner.  We do hit the coffee bar each morning for our espresso, later in the day we may get an "adult coffee drink" that is included in the drink package like irish/mexican coffee..

  9. Not cruise related but I had a friend that had heart attack in Switzerland, had to pay $7000 out of pocket to be treated for 10 days.  I found that to be very inexpensive compared to 10 days in a cardiac unit in the US.  But how many people have the extra cash to pay for that kind of emergency situation?  Is this unique to the US or do other countries cover that kind of cost with their health plans?

  10. Hmm.  We heard about this - interesting to see how it's going to do.   NCL had "Margaritaville at Sea" pubs and they did so-so.   We had the drink package and would go there for a few cocktails, maybe nachos.  At one time there was an amazing entertainer, Orly, that would play at certain times on NCL (I believe it was Escape?) and we would make an effort to check him out. I hope they can pull this off - I think there's a great market for quick getaway cruises to the Bahamas.

    i've been on both.

bliss, hands down... assuming you're interested in the itinerary.

observation lounge. variety of bars and restaurants.

    services. space. amenities.

(swimming pools. movie stars. y'all come back now, ya hear?)

Interesting.  We prefer the Breakaway because more outdoor activities and spaces on the top deck.   Probably wouldn't mind Bliss/Encore on cooler climate cruises (New England/Canada) but I want more places for fresh air.  😉.  Vibe Beach Club is smaller on Bliss, also.  But, I've been to those ports a million times so I'd probably choose the west coast trip.

I'm very curious to hear more about Onda from cruisers. That will be new to us. Honestly, the only things that excite me are 1-3 below and trying Ocean Blue. Everything else I'm pretty blase' about.

    1. Food Republic
    2. Pincho Tapas

    3. Bayamo
    4. Le Bistro (more consistently good than Cagneys, but a little bored with them)
    5. Cagneys (inconsistent, but feels a little nicer than others below)
    6. Moderno (my experiences have all been good there, unlike what many of you state)
    7. Shanghai Noodle bar (I forget the ship it's on)
    8. La Cucina (I had two decent experiences, but I'd rather do the MDR if anything sounds good there)

Need to try next cruise: Ocean Blue...guessing it will place in my top 4.

Never will try unless it's forced on me: Teppanyaki

Doubtful I will try: Los Lobos (low on my interest, but several of you have good things to say, so maybe?) and Q (I don't eat brisket outside of Texas, am picky about ribs, and am seriously doubting their ability to do any decent bbq on a cruise ship)

Oh - I forgot the noodle bar!  I think it's on Getaway and Breakaway?  Maybe on Joy, too.  I like that.  I have no interest in Q, period.  We did hear good things about Los lobos, went there for chips and quacamole but not a meal.  Like you, I eat that a lot on land (and if the cruise is to mexican ports, why bother).

  13. 1. Ocean Blue (prefer it slightly over Bayamo)

    2. LeBistro

    3.  Pinchos

    4. Cagneys

When we sail on the Escape, we tend to hit Pinchos for appetizers a few nights  or for a snack. Authentic tapas and well priced.  We also like Food Republic but not too crazy about cocktails there.  And breakfast at The Local!  La Cucina has been hit or miss as with Moderno.   When we eat at speciality restaurants, I like things that are more special or romantic, not something I would typically go to any day of the week at home.  Haven't went to Teppanyaki yet but I guess that would be fun with a group of friends.  We have been happy with the sushi bars!  I tend to lean more towards seafood, my husband steak.

  14. Part of this seems like heaven to be on a cruise with low numbers of people.  The breakaway class ship would be great for being maskless at the bars/restaurants on the waterfront!    And pool time - yay!  We rarely have any pool time as it's too crowded for us so we try to get into Vibe.

On the other hand, we have met some great people while cruising so that we would miss that part.  I'm glad you had a good time.
