Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. @twangster @Hoopster95 thank you so very very much for your amazing posts. You've really helped put this nervous first time Europe traveler and first time B2B cruisers mind at ease with so many aspects of our upcoming Jewel cruises. I know many of us appreciate all your efforts and time taken out of your holidays to share advice and tips with us. Safe travels home and thank you again!
  2. I'm sorry you weren't aware of this before your trip. I've spent quite a bit of time researching this particular port on YouTube before our July sailing and I had heard that booking direct was much better than booking via the ship. We booked through Norways Best but they don't assign a seat. What I was able to find out through researching (in case it helps others yet to cruise) is that the ships book out a certain number of train cars and that they then pack those cars to capacity. If you book directly, there's no such requirement to stick to designated cars and much more room and flexibility to move about. I also found the price booking through Norways Best a lot better. When our itinerary changed slightly and they switched our Flam and Alesund days, Norways Best was really helpful in making sure our booking date was switched to the new date. We're doing the morning train up and back to Myrdal and then in the afternoon we're doing a 2 hour Twizzy (electric car) tour up to the big lookout (Stegestein). Can't wait! Only a few weeks and we'll be there ourselves! Your photos have me so excited for this stop! It was one of the stops that was on our "MUST SEE" list before the UNSECO fjords are closed to only zero emissions ships in 2025. Loving following along but I'm sure the photos just don't do the real thing justice.
  3. We're booked on Blue Puffin tours next month for their North Cape Tour. I wish I'd known about this tour with the Huskies though. I really wanted to do the ships husky tours but the price was insane! Am going to go look up this tour to see if I can find it.
  4. @twangster what a shame they take the first sea pass card off you. I like to keep ours as souvenirs ๐Ÿ˜” Thanks so much for sharing such detail on change over day. It really helps put my mind at ease for our change over day in July. Am still undecided on whether to stay onboard or go ashore. We have the unlimited dining plan on our second cruise, so staying onboard would mean we get first pick at reservations before the other passengers start boarding. But being in a foreign port, far from Australia, an extra 4 or 5 hours in Amsterdam would come in mighty handy for restocking snacks and seeing some more sights.
  5. @twangster if it's not too much trouble I'd love to hear what happens on your change over day between cruises. Hubby and I are doing B2B cruises on Jewel in June & July for a total of 25 nights. We've never sailed B2B before so it's completely new to us. We'd love to stay onboard on changeover day to book our dining (as we have the unlimited dining plan for our second cruise) but then after we've got that out of the way we'd like to go ashore and maybe do some laundry and explore Amsterdam a little more before reboarding before sail away. We just don't know what to expect or if going ashore is even going to be an option.
  6. All is right in the world again!! Thank you for sharing your walk around of Cobh. What a beautiful city!!
  7. Hands down the Radiance class Schooner Bars are the best in the fleet! Perfect for scenic cruising.
  8. Just astounding! I can't wait to see many of the same sights for myself next month. I'm sure I'll be saying the same things. No matter how hard we try to capture the beauty, a photo never does the real thing justice. Thank you for sharing your amazing travels.
  9. Thank you. Weโ€™ll be sure to request evening service and a printed copy of the compas ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
  10. Strange question but if you ask your stateroom attendant for it, do they still do printed cruise compass or offer printed compass's at customer service? I'm old fashioned and like to highlight those items I'd really like to attend the evening prior.
  11. OMG I love this shot of you on the bough of the ship!! So great to know in advance for our cruises that the helipad will likely be open. Will definitely head up there. I'm assuming you used an Insta360 camera and invisible extension pole to get a shot like this? Would love to know what photography gear you took as I'm an enthusiastic snapper myself shooting on Olympus Micro 3/4 gear.
  12. Can I ask if the tenders are first in best dressed with long queues in Inverness or are they issuing tender tickets in advance of todayโ€™s port. If using tickets, when were people being asked to collect them? thanks for all your posts and info! Is invaluable ๐Ÿ˜
  13. OMG LOOKS AMAZING!!! Like out of a picture book. 32 days and counting till we land in Amsterdam. Your posts and pics are getting me so excited for our adventures!
  14. Canโ€™t wait to follow along! Weโ€™re doing the B2B Iceland/Scotland & Norway/Arctic Circle cruises in June/July. Will be keenly watching your posts for tips and hints as you have a lot of the same ports as our cruises ๐Ÿ˜
