  1. Thanks for the link! I tried that and when I tried to download, it says, "UH OH looks like our site needed a short vacation. 404-not found".

Also, it seems like the NCL website usually doesn't include the prices and is fairly spread out with all the "click here for la cucina, click here for le bistro" etc.

I would love to have a list with just the restaurant and the current price, or the form from NCL onboard that has a small description of each.

I will check back using the link, too.

  2. Hello everyone!

I am interested in getting the list of specialty restaurants and charges for Norwegian Epic.

Usually they have these in the cabins with other welcome aboard information. I wonder if anyone has a recent copy they could post/share? I have searched the boards and couldn't find one.

Any current list in a compact form would do.

    Thank you :)

  3. I want to use the cash back option I have used in the past with my NCL Mastercard. Before, I would log onto the redemption site and request a $500 check be sent to me for 50,000 points.

Now I can find no way to do the redemption online (through the BOA or NCL,sites- maybe I just can't find it) and this reward is not shown on the NCL page describing the benefits of the credit card.

Is this cashback still an option? Would I call NCL to redeem under the new terms?

Thank you for any information you can give. It seems like in the past it was best to have it figured out before calling them, in order to guide them through the process and ask the right questions.

    Thanks!

  4. When you get upstairs, there will be a queue for the security scanners. When you exit that queue (you'll be facing the ship), the check in counters are to your right. The priority boarding door is to your left of that queue. When we were there, the ladies that were policing the lines knew exactly where that door was and directed us through. It was very nice because once through there, you end up on the other side of the very long line to board. If you want a picture, you'll have to get the photographer's attention.

I think the intent is just to get your attention and make sure that the notification is read, otherwise some folks might think it was just marketing material.

And, as I posted before, there was no sign of staggered boarding on our June 2nd sailing in Seattle.

    Thanks a bunch!

  5. My travel agent got an "emergency notification" e-mail from Princess yesterday regarding our booking. We cruise out of Seattle this Sunday.

The only thing that was different on this pdf from the earlier payment confirmation, etc. was a notice that they would be doing staggered boarding.

I called Princess to make sure there wasn't something wrong with the booking to cause the "emergency notification" that wasn't reflected on their notice. The agent said, nope. The notice was sent to inform people about their staggered boarding times. I said I didn't like the wording, it didn't sound like much of an emergency to me and was unnecessarily alarming.

  6. It's not really a secret back door, LOL. After you clear security, then you check in. The woman at the counter directed us to a door that bypassed the much longer queue to board the ship. Another woman kept insisting that we go to the long line because she hadn't heard anything about priority boarding, so I nicely told her that we were going to try it our way but if we were incorrect, she'd see us on the way back. We weren't and she didn't.:)

    Hi critterchick,

Thanks for the great information. In case our "woman at the counter" is more like the other woman that hadn't heard about priority boarding door, would you tell us where it is in relation to the check in counters?

  7. Thanks everyone.

    I greatly appreciate it.

We are looking at cabin 4600 on the Jewel, which is right near the medical center and just wondered what the traffic might be, medical-wise. If the action is behind closed double doors, no waiting areas outside, etc., we probably won't even know it is there.

Does anyone know on which side the door or marked entrance is?

I appreciate comments about other noise issues or possible negative or positive aspects of this location.

    Thanks again!

  8. I am wondering if those who have been situated near the medical center on the Jewel class ships can tell me if the medical center presence and activity is obvious outside the area in the passageways, etc. I know this would vary depending on what injuries/sickness might occur, but just wanted your impressions.

    Thanks

  9. If you get cash back rewards on the new debit card, (why BOA can not tell you this is beyond me. It is their debit card. They are the bank!) I suggest you get the cash back and dedicate that money to your cruise expenses, deposit, onboard account, etc.

It might be easier than tracking the progress of on board credits that BOA is supposed to transer to NCL and NCL is supposed to credit to your onboard account that you won't even know if it was done correctly until you get to your cabin. THEN, if there is a problem, you spend your vacation trying to straighten it out through the same frustrating telephone process you are experiencing now.

I am going to try this with the points that I have accrued with the credit card (which has been great for me, although I have not redeemed points since the big policy change a few years back.) Someone on this board suggested this and it sounds like a great idea. I believe the cash back reward was equal to the onboard credit reward for the same number of points. I did try this at one point. The BOA website said you could get a credit to your bank account or they would send you a check. Since BOA had sent me a notice the week before that their credit card records had been compromised and they had to change my credit card number to protect me, I did not want to give them my bank account number if their system was that vulnerable. I spoke to several supervisors and the last one (about 3 weeks after I started the process) said he would research it and call me back. He never did.

Bank of America is responsible for knowing the terms of the credit and debit cards that they issue. NCL does not handle the banking side of it. Seems like people working at the bank should at least know this.

  10. Just won this 4* hotel for $132/night for two nights, Aug 20-21.

Selected Downtown - Pike Place, 4*.

I bid over the last three nights, adding up to nine areas and $2 each bid, up to $128. Tonight started at $130. Immediately received a counter bid to add $35. Said, no thanks. Added one more area (with no 4* hotels) and only $2 more. Total $312.20, including taxes/fees. Regular Priceline price (without bidding) was $469.68. Rated #5/134 hotels in Seattle by Priceline. I'm sure this will be the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in. Excited:D!

It is a beautiful hotel. Have a great adventure!

  11. Here's a secret no one has mentioned yet. Access to the bow-deck.

On an S-class ship you go forward on the lower promenade deck, to where you can cross over from one side of the ship to the other (port to starboard, or visa versa). There are two closet like chambers, glass walled, with doors facing inward. Open the door on one of them and climb the stairs you'll find inside. Those stairs will lead you up one deck, then turn and -- if the door isn't open -- push the water-tight door open and step through (carefully) and out onto the forward bow deck.

Here's a deck plan showing where to access it:

On an R-class ship you go forward on the lower promenade deck, to where you can cross over from one side of the ship to the other (port to starboard, or visa versa). Facing forward there's a set of double doors on port and starboard. No signs. Open either and climb the stairs you'll find right in front of you. Turn and push open the water tight door and step (carefully) out onto the forward bow deck.

This deck is one of my favorite places on the ship ... it's especially a great place for Alaska.

Any instructions like this for getting to the bow area on the Vista Class ships? Oosterdam in particular?

(I am only on page 2 and have to go, so if it is posted later in the thread, I will find it later tonight!) Thanks
