    They are waterproof.

Also, on the 10/2 sailing, they had a *hard* time opening the YC door (cabin door was fine...just the door to get into the YC).

alyssamma, I had the same issue with the bands on my YC cruise in August.  The doors from the Solarium area into the YC on deck 15 were definitely problematic.

Can I just clarify that you had to pay for 2 passengers with the upgrade bid even though you were solo?

    thanks!

Yes, the amount I bid (per person) was doubled.  No single supplement on bids.  However, my winning bid was substantially less than doing a direct upgrade to the same cabin.

  3. I just won a bid from a Fantastica balcony to a YC Deluxe Suite (15009) in August on Meraviglia.  I was sailing solo.  I received all of the YC benefits.  Butler, Concierge desk, restaurant, lounge, sundeck, escorted off the ship, YC beach and lunch at Ocean House on Ocean Cay, etc.  As a matter of fact, at OC, I was literally the first passenger off the ship and had a private cart ride to a completely empty YC beach (see photo).  I checked my bill multiple times throughout the cruise and was never charged anything extra for drinks, meals, etc. that I got outside of the YC either.  I had multiple drinks at the Horizon Pool Bar on the aft end of the ship and was not charged for any of them.

  4. Tagging on to this post.  My 29-year-old son and I will be going to Costa Maya in January on Meraviglia.  I heard great things about the "Maya, Lost Mayan Kingdom" water park resort pre-Covid.  Their website is not clear about whether or not they have reopened since the closure in March 2020 due to Covid.  Does anyone know if they are operating again?

  5. A quick question for you.  My son and I are booked on Mera for January 9th and Costa Maya is one of the ports.  I had read some great things about the "Maya, Lost Mayan Kingdom" water resort before the Pandemic.  I just went to their website and it is not clear if they have reopened or not.  Did you hear of anyone going there as an excursion?

  6. Just an FYI:  MSC just changed their health and safety protocols a few hours ago to remove the "through Nov. 1st" restriction for the Bahamian vaccination requirement.  So it looks like the Bahamas will be requiring everyone to be vaccinated indefinitely at this point.  So, if you have an early November cruise and have not yet started the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine process, you might be out of luck since you have to have both doses plus 14 days to be considered fully vaccinated to cruise.  J&J might still work.

Sailing in 12 days in the YC. Anyone have experience with the YC Dining Room? I've been told they are very accommodating with any special requests. If I can get my steak and eggs in the morning I'll be a happy cruiser...lol

Sailed in the YC on Meraviglia back in August.  Found the food to be as good if not better than the Haven restaurant on NCL.  Very satisfied with the food in the YC restaurant and in the special YC enclave on Ocean Cay.

  8. One thing I can tell you is the chocolate is not tempered.  I bought one for my daughter and SIL on my 8/27 Mera cruise.  I forgot it was in my "goodie" bag when I got back to Miami and placed that bag with my suitcase in my trunk.  Six-and-a-half hours later, when I removed it from my trunk, it was just a blob of chocolate at the bottom of the plastic case it came in.  My daughter and SIL said the chocolate was really good, but I was really disappointed that they never got to see it as the ship.  My mistake, but still.  I have brought chocolate gifts back from other vacations and never had anything completely melt in my trunk like that.

Can either Match or Dave shed any light on the Covid testing for B2B cruises? People on my Divina cruise can't get a straight answer from the representatives. They're hoping they will be tested on the ship, but,  some are being told they will have to disembark and find a pharmacy willing to test them. Thanks!

A friend of mine was doing the 8/27 and 8/30 cruises as a B2B.  He was required to have the original test no more than 72 hours before the 8/27 cruise like everyone else.  They then told him that the B2B passengers would meet in the theater on "turn around day", and they would all be given an antigen test by MSC at no cost, walked off the ship, then back on as soon as Customs verified the ship was cleared.

The displays on the Meraviglia's Atrium's ceiling are awesome.  The one you posted is different from any that I saw.

In your post #77, what are the meats that you showed?

Thanks for your excellent photography and for your efforts in posting them!

The meat in post 77 was a side of ham with my waffles.  As opposed to most American restaurants, where the side of ham is usually one thick slice, they give you multiple, thin slices that are all lightly browned.  Very tasty in my opinion.
