  1. What is a “bad thing to me” is a sarcastic, arrogant and condescending tone. Consistenty. If you are, in fact, a representative of Royal, that tone should be a “bad thing” to them as well.

There is no "tone" in the written word, only what you read into something. I find Carole's posts very informative and to the point. Gee, maybe being a retired English teacher has something to do with it. She doesn't represent Royal. She is a cruiser that has taken more cruises than most of the posters on here, combined.

So maybe you need change your perception of the information presented.

  2. So,,, your original cruise was cancelled (doesn't matter for what reason).

And,,, you were give the option of a refund, or applying your cruise fare to any other cruise.

And,,, fares have gone up and your cruise fare does not get you the same class of room.

So,,, you're not involuntarily downgraded, you just can't get the same class of room on the new booking/ship.

I would still pursue the "you cancelled my cruise, I want the exact same class cabin on the new ship" argument. The cruise line does not "owe" you anything, but insisting that they "make you whole" by putting you back in the same cabin class for the same price is not an unreasonable request. Sounds like you tried this argument and got a stiff arm. Try again and escalate to a supervisor.

Again, the cruise line does not owe you anything other than a refund. But, keep trying to get yourself back to the same cabin class.

Everything you just said is an assumption as the OP has not clarified the scenario.

  3. I meant to say RC redeployed their ships and I'll be sailing on a different ship. That's when the downgrade happened. Thanks for your response.

I'm sorry but your response still doesn't make sense. Are you saying your original cruise was cancelled? If you accepted another cruise, no downgraded happened. You said okay. You could have gotten a refund.

  4. Yes, I was told that the cruise company has a new deployment and all the reservations were shifted to a different ship. Since I made the reservation 9 months ago, I argue that the cruise company should let me keep that type of stateroom that I booked.

This is the statement that confuses me. They moved you to a different ship without your permission? What ship and cabin type did you book?

What ship and cabin type did they move you to? Can you be specific please? Your comments seem vague and people are giving you info without really understanding what happened.

  5. We just completed a Celebrity Silhouette transatlantic cruise on April 28, 2018. We had Room Service every morning and there was NO charge for this and all breakfast items were FREE. We were Concierge class and got an extended items menu, still no charge. We just tipped the attendant who delivered it. There is a small charge if you have room service from late at night to 5:30am. We had Room Service twice and no charge for that either. If you use the t.v. screen in your cabin it will show you which items have a fee. We only had a tip----no additional charge!

But that was not on Royal so your response is irrelevant to this topic.

  6. niksmom630 did an excellent live stream from the Allure sailing Feb 25th. This was in every days cruise compass she posted. Day1-8. Since it was there the day sailed from Ft Lauderdale and on every other day including sea days, it freaked me out a little.Yes they were a different itinerary and stopped in Mexico. But it was there long before got to Mexico. Look for yourself. Just put her name into search. It is the exact same warning Big_G put up above. I just wanted to know if things had changed. Having had many GI surgeries,I am more sensitive than some and do not play around with those things. Like I said, the warning being there even in Ft Lauderdale and saying nothing about drinking water off the ship really freaked me. This is one reason we like to cruise. I can go to a few places that I cannot risk traveling to at all otherwise. Read the warning. If there every day of cruise is that worrying. I am hoping someone can ease my mind because their warning does not. Are all cruise lines now placing this warning in everyday of their cruise compass or equivalent?

When you build a flyer like the Compass, they have certain sections that they never change. The staff would change dates, times, locations but some standard messages just appear because it's easier to leave it. I feel bad that you're not understanding what everyone is telling you. THE.WATER.IS.FINE. chengkp75 is a Chief Engineer. He, above anyone here, knows what he's talking about. I hope you're able to relax after reading these, because if not, perhaps home is the best choice..

  7. Thank you...this is great on my computer but when I try to print it comes out very small...does anyone have a good PDF....

I found if I downloaded it to my computer, then printed, it was fine and full size. Perhaps give that a try. (I wouldn't actually try to print the whole thing, just try the first page---select current page to get just one to make sure it's working for you.)

    Good luck!

  8. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

    But why just Oasis class?

John: I'm going to respond to you because you provide good (and often hilarious) information...plus there is your lovely wife and of course Bella

I believe the problem lies (or is lays or ?) with the SL being attached to CK. On Quantum class, the areas are separate, so access can be better controlled.

Also, my husband does access control for a living and I asked him your question about limiting time. He said there will always be issues. It could work but you know Royal IT. Someone will come at 5:28 or 9:04 and door won't open and they will get all upset and be down at GS complaining. He sees error codes all the time from ppl that just aren't supposed to be there yet. Better to limit and control it manually.

  9. Also, JSs cost a lot more than regular balcony cabins so your suggestion that they take CK dinner away from folks like us who book JSs (on OA class partly because of being able to have dinner in CK) is a bit insulting.

You know what, first, I'm a gal not a pal. 2nd, I'm out. I have been on here for 12 years and posted less than 600 times. I only post on things that really torque me off like whining. There is another CK thread with exactly the same tone as this https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2542017 where I posted earlier.

    Enjoy dinner....

  10. While I have not been able to find anything written on RCs website it is their practice. It's extremely deceptive advertising and people in these forums will be the first to point out that because they have spent more money they deserve special treatment for a perk that is advertised for all levels (Dinner only). Sky class and above have the ability to communicate with a concierge before the cruise so they can prebook times for dinner where as Sea class suites need to book onboard and get the leftovers.

With that being said we are going on the Allure for a 4th time this May without children and have booked a GS to avoid the headaches and the deal was amazing.

I believe this is directed at me so I will respond...I think they should take CK away from JS for Oasis class due to all these problems. And yes, pay more get preferred treatment. (By the way, I'm hardly the first to point this out-and now you want to use that preferential treatment to your advantage-------pretty hypocritical)

So much drama over eating dinner and getting our feelings hurt and the nightmares and the headaches...........oh my!

  11. Good luck on your Harmony! I hope you don't have JS booked! :D I got email with feedback request regarding the cruise and I wrote what I think about CK and the host. I am not sure if anyone would actually read it but who knows. I don't think even GS is gonna do anything about it. If a Star Class passenger would have complained about the service, they would definitely react to it.

But a Star class passenger paid 3 to 4 times as much for their cabin and amenities. Of course they get results. Just like a person that buys a Rolls Royce gets better quality and service than one that buys even the best Ford. Money makes the world go round. It's the way of things. And we can argue if that's right or wrong but the fact of the matter, it just is.

As for the door knocking, they have that because if you're in a JS you're not entitled to be there for free cocktails, hang out all day or eat other meals. Those that work there should not have to check each person's card. They want to just be able to assume if you're in there, you belong there. Not sure why it's such a big deal. We did it in a JS . No prob, just waited and were patient, polite and didn't take ourselves to seriously or take it personally. Everyone is so easily offended now days.

  12. I counted seven. Rather pathetic, really. I wish you better cruises in the future, cruisegus.

And it turns out that they didn't deny him; he just didn't like the available times.

At least in that complaint he didn't use the word steerage. Plus he says he's Diamond. Should know by now how the donut rolls and what the rules are. Ridiculous..

  13. Based on my experience this past week on Allure, just because your in a Junior Suite does not mean they are going to let you book into Coastal Kitchen for Dinner. This was the biggest disappointment of my sailing on a an oasis class ship, in fact when i tried to book dinner twice the lady at the host station was indigent, mad me feel like i was a steerage passenger trying to get into First Class

How many threads from the past are you going to pull up and post the same crap? Clearly stated "as available". I can see it now....Well, there were no reservations available and now you're mad and probably acted like a putz about it.....She gets defensive. You now have to tell the world your sad story....If this is your biggest disappointment you had a pretty dang good cruise.

Spring for the GS and then you can eat there anytime you want.
