  1. Does anyone have a recommendation for type of night light that can be used in the Regal Princess bathroom? We will be doing a New England/Canada Cruise later this month and would like to have some type of low voltage night light for the bathroom at night. Thank you.

The outlet, in the bath room, is 120V.

    Standard night light is O.K.

    Have a great cruise.

  2. I know it is early in the game, but does anyone know where the smoking areas will be on the Sky Princess. Specifically if they are planning to use the aft of Sky deck for smokers like on the Royal and Regal?

I am taking a guess, I would say yes to that.

From what I saw on the Royal and Regal, there was coffee there in the morning.

Also, bar service during the day.

  3. Does anyone have any experience with Emergency Assistance Plus Travel insurance for medical transport, medical evacuation, etc?

I received an offer through my AA Advantage Membership but had not heard of this provider. Thanks.

    A word of caution --

This company automatically renews the policy.

    Read the fine print.

  4. Was there ever a problem in having to wait a long time for machines? On the Royla next year and spending almost a week in London first. Will definitely need to do laundry in first couple of days.

Should not be a problem for the first few days to get a machine(s)

Most of the passengers will be boarding with clean clothes.

  5. I'd always been of the impression that suites could still select Traditional Dining, and anyone else could link their booking to the suite pax and be able to join them at that assigned table. Anyone have any more definitive insights on this?

Club Class Dining: Dine on your own schedule while enjoying the exclusive benefits of Club Class Dining, including expedited seating with minimal to no wait, expanded menu options, dedicated wait staff, unique styled décor and tableside preparations. Traditional Dining: Dine at the same time with the same people each night.

This is my option on a planned cruise on the Emerald in March.

  6. i have booked EZ air for my cruise to Seattle June 2018.

My question is if the rates change do I need to call Princess to change or can I just do it online?

Prices have already been changing on flights I booked

    Thank you

    You can do it online.

    Cancel the original booking.

    Rebook.

    Select Seats.

    Have a great Cruise.

  7. Although on many non-US carriers they charge a non-refundable seat reservation fee for a coach seat assignment before check-in.

That's why we waited until deciding that we had our best flight & airfare. About a month before our cruise's final payment we paid a reasonable fee to get our preferred seat assignments.

On KLM we paid them on their website to make our coach seat reservations before Princess pays them closer to sailing. I have read that some airlines will not allow seat reservations before Princess pays them. A friend recently had to pay for their flights before final payment in order to make their seat reservations.

I booked BA flights to LHR for our Cruise next month (Flex Fare).

    Price went down three times.

I was able to refare and hurry to rebook our seats at no additional cost.

Did this on the Princess Site.

This was prior to Final Payment.

Granted all carriers are not the same with their regulations. .

  8. We are doing a cruisetour, including the Star, starting next May 29th. I pulled up the EZair pretty much when I could and got a price. DH said that was too expensive and to wait since it is so far away. Well, now the price for the same route has gone up almost $200/person in the past 1.5 weeks! Is this usual so far in advance? I hope it will come down, but hoping we didn't miss our chance.

This trip is starting to cost a lot more than we had planned (and were told by the TA up front with his estimate to our group) and I'm afraid if the flight doesn't come down significantly we will have to cancel.

Book the air as flexible and then you can cancel it and rebook if the price changes. this will at least prevent it from further climbing.

You will pick your seats when you book your flight(s).

When you cancel and rebook at a lower fare, you will have to rebook your seats.

  9. And yet if you dine in the Steakhouse, they give you a really sharp steak knife! I've carried on a Swiss knife before and it's never been confiscated. I carry it in my purse and I forget that it's even in there. Flew to Las Vegas and back with it in my purse.

Steak House knives probably very closely watched, by the Wait Staff, for theft.

You would probably get a visit, from Security, if one was missing.

Swiss Army knives, with a blade length of less that 3 inches, is legal.

    It is a folding knife.

Any knife with a blade length over 3 inches are illegal.

Have seen blade lengths checked at TSA.

Over 3 inches in length and "Fixed' are illegal; as well as folding knives.

  10. This question was asked of me and I said that checked luggage was put through a scanner before it's put on the ship. Am I correct?

I know that our carry-on's are put through the same TSA [or like] process before we board but what about our checked luggage?

Your checked luggage would be scanned twice.

    At the Airport (If flying)

And, all checked luggage is scanned by Princess.

    I have heard of cases where knives are found;

    also booze confiscated.

  11. Our first on the Pacific but really loved the old Royal. As we are serious early birds and like to get coffee really early, do you recall when the two coffee bars open? And do they make specialty coffees? Thanks!

There is a coffee bar in the Buffet area that opens at 6:00 A.M.

Can not recall when the coffee bar near the MDR opens.

I believe that they serve specialty coffee.

  12. If you made your own flight arrangements......

Make sure you add your independent flight info into the personalizer under travel arrangements. It helps onboard.

    Thanks for the reminder.

    Tom😀

I always take an extra copy of my flight schedule and staple it

    to my E-Zair Form

  13. Suppose---

Im taking a trans Atlantic westbound. Ship is 'suppose' to dock at 6:00AM in Fort Lauderdale, a ten minute taxi to the airport.

I want to take SW home.

Would it be feasible to catch a 9:00AM direct flight home?

Is SW one of the lines that would do the 'magic suitcase thing' they do on Caribbean cruises? You know, where you put your case outside your room on the last night and they magically appear at your home destination?

What's the usual time from docking to letting passengers off on a trans Atlantic?

Thanks so much for your wisdom.

    Going from memory on this.

    From what I recall, a 9:00 A. M. flight is to early for E Z Check.

The P S D may not accept your request for E Z Check.

Your luggage has to be off loaded and inspected by Customs.

Then, loaded onto a Truck; then, off loaded at the Airport.

  14. We will be boarding the Viking Star in Venice for a cruise to Athens, Greece in May 2018. The pre-cruise package is quite pricey so we are looking for a recommendation for a nice hotel in the area close to sight seeing destinations. Thank you.

    Recommend: Al Ponte Mocenigo.

Very reasonable and rated high on Trip Advisor.

No bridges to cross with your luggage.

There is a Vaporetto stop close to the rear entrance.

  15. It willl be my first time on the Royall this summer. We have a large group (19) meeting for a tour and want to find a good place to meet up do we can disembark together. We want to avoid places the ship uses for their tours. Any ideas? Thanks.

    One word of caution.

Do not exchange any monies while aboard.

Saw an incident where Ship's Officers saw money being paid and threatened to disembark those involved.

    Have a great Cruise.

  16. How long before the ship is scheduled to leave do they want you to be back on board typically? I am planning some tours and was planning on making sure we would be back 1.5 hours before departure - but maybe could push it to 1 hr? We will be on the Pacific Princess on a British Isles cruise. Does being on a much smaller ship make any difference?

Usually, All-Aboard time is one-half hour prior to departure.

Size of the Ship does not matter.

    Have a great Cruise.

  17. We'll be on the Coral for a Panama Canal cruise next month, and are new to cruising. We do not plan to access the Internet while on board the ship due to the cost. Is there a way I can access major league baseball game scores and league standings each day if we do not have the Internet?

On the Pacific Princess, in Jan. 17, there was a daily news paper.

    Gave some sports info.

Quite possible the Coral will have the news paper and have scores.

News paper was available in the Library.
