Sure thing! Do you have any excursions booked? We haven't booked any. I was considering the museum but I don't really like guided tours of that kind of thing. I might try to take the bus over there. Also there is a McDonalds and a Tim Hortons in that town, so as ridiculous as it is, I was going to visit those because the McD's has stuff they don't sell here, and I've never been to a Tim Hortons.

Well at Tim Hortons youā€™ll finally get to taste a good cup of coffeešŸ˜Ž

  2. Hi we ( my brother and I ) need some suggestions. We are currently on the Celebrity Summit finishing our Panama Canal cruise.

We dock Saturday morning and our flight for 5 of us is at 11:40 to YYZā€¦do any of you have a recommendation for a limo service from the cruise terminal to LAX? Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, Ā but had to respond. We just got off of the Summit yesterday. I donā€™t understand why the OP calls it as ā€œrust bucketā€. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! The cabins were wonderful, food was fantastic, all common areas were great. We saw nothing wrong. We were first on Summit in 2012 and have to say, the ship looked in much better condition now šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø While we much prefer S class ships, I wouldnā€™t hesitate to book the Summit again.

We are currently on the Summit going thru the Panama Canal in a couple of daysā€¦heading to LA.

Our cabin has been freshly decorated and the Solarium is in great shape. The staff is very accommodating especially helping us with the burial at sea of my BILā€¦weā€™d sail this ship again in a heartbeat.

No-never been on NCL.Ā  We are leaning towards Bliss.Ā  15 day Panama Canal.Ā  Not sure why Carnival PC cruises don't go to more ports.

I just want to do an interior but he is going down the Balcony rabbit hole.Ā  3 hours researching this morning UGH!

We leave Saturday on a 14 night Panama Canal cruiseā€¦weā€™re on the Summit and we sail out of Miami and end up in LAā€¦fly out tomorrow canā€™t wait šŸ˜Ž

  5. We are sailing on April 20ā€¦this will be our 3rd time on the Summit. The last cruise was in February 2020 and then Covid shut everything down. In 2016 the ship had gone through some updates and we loved it but we could see some wear and tear. In 2020 it had been revolutionized and what a difference it made. So donā€™t know what to expect this time but itā€™s 14 nights and weā€™re cruising and you canā€™t beat that šŸ˜Ž

This is confusing a lot of folks on our upcoming Pearl cruise this summer... see that little note on the right? "Due to security reasons, all guests must be on board 2 hours before sailing. Disembarkation usually begins 2 hours after docking. Itineraries are subject to change at any time without notice."

    Ā

Honestly, I understand why. It doesn't specify anywhere that that specifically applies to the port of embarkation, but there's no way they're taking 4 hours off of every port stop - yet there are tons of people who believe that and are struggling to make plans in port thus far. Seems like a little tweak could clear all that up.Ā

I see that you have Santorini and Mykonos in your itinerary. A word of caution for Santoriniā€¦we were on a Mediterranean cruise in September and stopped at both places. At Santorini if you arenā€™t going up on the cable cars and plan to stay on the lower level, no problem. However, our waits were 1 hour and 45 minutes going up and the same going back. You can walk but I would never recommend that or take a donkey upā€¦I heard horror stories about that. I would never return to Santorini especially when more than 2 cruise ships are docked there. In reality there isnā€™t room for that number of people.

On the other hand Mykonos was my all time favourite stopā€¦and since you two are foodies there are multiple restaurants and patios facing the sea with great menus.

    Good luckšŸ˜Ž

Yep! Ā The only Italian sausage I buy. Ā Sopressata, herbed ham, sharp provolone, Asiago and I grab other chunks when they have me try samples. Ā I get in the car and make a sandwich to eat on the way home. Ā I get the frozen pizza dough to make pepperoni rolls. Ā

Hi Iā€™m going to respond to your question about food for your dog on the other live blog.We have a 10 month old female border collie. When we get back from our Panama cruise on the Summit in early May my wife intends to put her on a diet that doesnā€™t include the usual dog food products.

Currently Lily eats oranges, bananas, most vegetables raw, yogurt, blueberries and other fruits. She will have a mixture of brown or basmati rice with either turkey or chicken or hamburger. In with those foods sheā€™ll get vegetables and other food recommended by vets as safe and nutritious for dogs.

We tried this with our last border collie because he had a sensitive stomach and it cleared everything up. The poor guy developed all kinds of ailments in the last 6 months of his life not related to the natural diet but he ate heartily up until the end.

Itā€™s not really a lot of workā€¦we made dozens of meals ahead of time and froze them for later. I think as well weā€™ll be adding approved supplements to the food.

    Hope this helps.

Thatā€™s pretty much how my math has been coming out. Think thatā€™s the one I was considering booking when I was on Jewel. I remember it being Viva out of San Juan in 2025. Price wise I ended up coming out a lot better with Encore next year and Epic out of San Juan in 2026. Almost the same route except swap Barbados for St. Kitts which is good for me since I havenā€™t been to Barbados yet.

Youā€™ll like Barbados my family lived there for 16 yearsā€¦owned a couple of hotels on St. Lawrence Gapā€¦lots to see and doā€¦

I hear you. I used to love Vegas. If I go now I stay away from the strip.....way too pricey for bad service. Fremont is cool but OMG the weed smell is everywhere. And the stoned out people are just not as fun as they think they are.Ā

Now if I go, we stay at places away from the action.Ā

    Ā

Everything everyone is saying about Vegas I would agree with. My brother and I started going in 1989 and it was a real novelty and a fun place to visit.

Fast forward over 50 times to Vegas Iā€™m done. Havenā€™t been there since August 2022 itā€™s just too priceyā€¦everything is. Tables, rooms and restaurants. Craps tables with a $50 buy in plus whatever you want to bet, itā€™s like they are trying to get back all their losses since Covid in one swoop.

So for me itā€™s just lost itā€™s excitement.

It has three new ports for me (St. Thomas, Tortola, and Great Stirrup Cay). Thatā€™s why I wanted to do this one. I saw it on Epic first and then I thought..letā€™s see if they do that from somewhere other than PC. And they do..Encore out of Miami.Ā

    Ā

St.Thomas is the home of the banana daiquiri. If you are doing a tour and they pull into a large souvenir place with that sign get one. They use a large glass with 2/3 rum šŸ˜Ž

Before I could catch up to my wife to tell her slow down, it was too late. She slept the rest of the afternoon.šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

  11. As many of you read yesterday our daughter had a baby on the 14thā€¦what I didnā€™t realize was probably around the same time Tommy was born my brother-in-law passed away in his sleep. I guess thatā€™s the cycle of life.

Anyways after getting over this shock my sister has had her husband cremated and would like to have his ashes dispersed at sea. I know I read someoneā€™s post awhile back on this forum who did this. We are going to be on the Celebrity Summit with her in April 2024 and sheā€™d like to do it then. Does anyone know if Celebrity allows this? TIA

  12. Since you are all talking about babiesā€¦our youngest daughter went into labour last night around midnight. Got to the hospital around 1amā€¦things started to move so fast they didnā€™t have time for an epidural and she gave birth to a 6 pound 12 ounce boy at 1:50am.

The midwife and doctor checked everything out for a couple of hours, said youā€™re good to go and mom dad and the baby were home by 4:30am šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

  13. Gregā€¦

For what itā€™s worth, we sailed out of Galveston with 23 people on our 45th anniversary cruise. On the last day of our cruise the captain made an announcement around noon to tell us about the fog. He said multiple ships had been unable to dock because of the dense fog so just a heads up we might be delayed. Since I was responsible for getting people home it wrecked my last day. He said they were going to drop the hammer and get in as early as they could but no guarantees.

He said one ship had to wait a day to dockā€¦yikes. Anyways it worked out but I resolved to never sail out of Galveston ever againā€¦hope you donā€™t run into this problem šŸ§
