We are currently on the Summit going thru the Panama Canal in a couple of days…heading to LA. Our cabin has been freshly decorated and the Solarium is in great shape. The staff is very accommodating especially helping us with the burial at sea of my BIL…we’d sail this ship again in a heartbeat.

We are sailing on April 20…this will be our 3rd time on the Summit. The last cruise was in February 2020 and then Covid shut everything down. In 2016 the ship had gone through some updates and we loved it but we could see some wear and tear. In 2020 it had been revolutionized and what a difference it made. So don’t know what to expect this time but it’s 14 nights and we’re cruising and you can’t beat that 😎

Greg… For what it’s worth, we sailed out of Galveston with 23 people on our 45th anniversary cruise. On the last day of our cruise the captain made an announcement around noon to tell us about the fog. He said multiple ships had been unable to dock because of the dense fog so just a heads up we might be delayed. Since I was responsible for getting people home it wrecked my last day. He said they were going to drop the hammer and get in as early as they could but no guarantees. He said one ship had to wait a day to dock…yikes. Anyways it worked out but I resolved to never sail out of Galveston ever again…hope you don’t run into this problem 🧐

It was the school system it was extremely bad and we knew we had to get back to something better…but that was over 50 years ago I’m sure it’s much better now.

My parents lived there from 1967 to 1983… they built a hotel on St.Lawrence Gap in 1968 and another on the beach in the early 70s…I headed back to Canada to go to teacher’s college but finished gr.12&13 first in Stratford Ontario…my one brother followed me became an engineer the other hung around for a few years…our sister went to Bishop Strahan for HS…none of us wanted to live there except my youngest brother.

I think you’ll enjoy Barbados…my parents moved us to the island in 1967, 4 kids and a total culture shock. Saint Lawrence Gap is interesting but exploring Bridgetown can be fun…if you like rum. I could go on but there is not enough space to talk about living there. Have fun…

Without a doubt 1) Air Canada sucks and 2) Pearson is absolutely abysmal…I say that as someone who lives about 90 minutes away. If I could fly another airline and not leave from Toronto I would.

WTH…when did this start?

DaKahuna… I have a question about smoking on the Harmony. My brother just boarded the Oasis today and of course headed to the Solarium. He was shocked to find people smoking in the loungers behind the bar in the shade. Was smoking allowed in the Solarium on the Harmony?

Thanks for doing this review. We were on the Harmony shortly after it first sailed. Although it is a wonderful ship it was one and done for us. My wife and I always hang out in the solarium, mostly for the shade up by the bar but certainly for the pool which for some reason RC decided to exclude on the Harmony. We don’t like the main pools and enjoy the pool area to cool off, so for us we won’t be back. We’re on the Oasis April 23-30 and your review is really making us look forward to that cruise 😎

I’d have to say that steak looks like something from the bottom of a shoe🧐

A bunch of us did this train ride before Covid…I lost track of how many closed down sugar cane plantations we passed.

We were on the Equinox in May of last year and it was the best meal any of us had ever had on a cruise ship. Murano was the restaurant and if we ever sail Celebrity again that will be a reservation for sure.

Can’t wait to follow along…not sure I could last for 47 nights but I’d make a valiant effort…we’re in Stratford, Ontario and it hasn’t stopped snowing for over 4 hours with no immediate end in sight. A group of 5 of us board the Oasis April 23-30…hopefully the snow will be gone by then 😳 (I doubt it 🤦‍♂️) enjoy!

It sounds like overall you’ve had a good experience on Symphony. We’ve been on it twice…first time on its first trip to Florida from the Mediterranean and then this past summer in the Caribbean. We really liked the ship but we tend to hang out in the Solarium on cruise ships and for us this is where the Symphony doesn’t do well. The solarium is a sweat box it is wall to wall glass. On our TA nobody hung out there once we hit the Atlantic and it wasn’t any better this summer in the Caribbean. We prefer the Oasis and the Allure…having said that how did you find the Solarium?
