It has three new ports for me (St. Thomas, Tortola, and Great Stirrup Cay). That’s why I wanted to do this one. I saw it on Epic first and then I thought..let’s see if they do that from somewhere other than PC. And they do..Encore out of Miami.

St.Thomas is the home of the banana daiquiri. If you are doing a tour and they pull into a large souvenir place with that sign get one. They use a large glass with 2/3 rum 😎

Before I could catch up to my wife to tell her slow down, it was too late. She slept the rest of the afternoon.🤦‍♂️

  2. As many of you read yesterday our daughter had a baby on the 14th…what I didn’t realize was probably around the same time Tommy was born my brother-in-law passed away in his sleep. I guess that’s the cycle of life.

Anyways after getting over this shock my sister has had her husband cremated and would like to have his ashes dispersed at sea. I know I read someone’s post awhile back on this forum who did this. We are going to be on the Celebrity Summit with her in April 2024 and she’d like to do it then. Does anyone know if Celebrity allows this? TIA

  3. Since you are all talking about babies…our youngest daughter went into labour last night around midnight. Got to the hospital around 1am…things started to move so fast they didn’t have time for an epidural and she gave birth to a 6 pound 12 ounce boy at 1:50am.

The midwife and doctor checked everything out for a couple of hours, said you’re good to go and mom dad and the baby were home by 4:30am 🤦‍♂️

  4. Greg…

For what it’s worth, we sailed out of Galveston with 23 people on our 45th anniversary cruise. On the last day of our cruise the captain made an announcement around noon to tell us about the fog. He said multiple ships had been unable to dock because of the dense fog so just a heads up we might be delayed. Since I was responsible for getting people home it wrecked my last day. He said they were going to drop the hammer and get in as early as they could but no guarantees.

He said one ship had to wait a day to dock…yikes. Anyways it worked out but I resolved to never sail out of Galveston ever again…hope you don’t run into this problem 🧐

@josumello @Jamman54 and everyone… thanks. Gonna go back to the doctor this week and get it scheduled. As much as I don’t wanna… I also don’t wanna stay sick.

    Megan…

We we’re on a Mediterranean cruise at the end of September and 2 days before we flew home my brother was in considerable pain. When he got back to Toronto he saw his doctor and of course it was his gallbladder.

Unfortunately the hospital kept him waiting 5 days before they did surgery and the GB ruptured. He ended up in the hospital 3 more days and he’s just feeling well now. So don’t wait get it done now.

Yikes! Colton had his 3rd grade music assembly this evening, so I’m actually putting on makeup and trying to look decent. Since I work from home, I can “bum” it most days. I haven’t put on real pants since Halloween. And nothing fits… thanks gallbladder. I usually vary by about 5 lbs. my wardrobe wasn’t prepared for a 12 lb swing. 🥴

Also, this is what was sent out for this performance. I’m suppose to have my 8 year old son pick his favorite Taylor Swift “era” and have him dress accordingly?! I’ll just be surprised IF he actually sings instead of just standing there the whole time.

Is this your over achieving new administrator’s idea?

Tribe, you are welcome to pass judgment on me. On the other hand, you may praise me for teaching proper priorities, not sure.

My teen's high school graduation present is our May 2024 Alaska cruise.  The kicker: it will take place DURING THE GRADUATION CEREMONY.

This kid has hated school since 3rd grade. Happily though, this year, teen is full time and 100% at the local Community College, doing well and enjoying a dual credit program and basically is of the mindset they already de facto graduated last spring as they had something like 26 credits at the end of Jr. year.

Not buying the cap and gown. Not buying announcements. AITA? Or is that another social media site?

I played in a volleyball qualifying tournament instead of going to my undergraduate graduation ceremony…and we qualified 😎

Hey y'all, I'm betting some of you have sailed out of Rome - any idea what the ealiest/safest flight time on day of disembark should be? Cruise line says 6 hours after ship arrival, but wanting to double check...

Well we just returned from a 9 night cruise on the Odyssey of the Seas. We stayed 2 nights in Rome after the cruise and we were told that we needed to be at the airport 4 hours early. Presuming in a perfect world that you need an hour to get to the airport from the ship including disembarking the ship I think 5 hours is plenty. Honestly it took us under 45 minutes to check in at the airport and get through security. It’s a huge airport however and they changed gates on us with little notice. This meant riding a train to the next gate which in total took another 30 minutes.

I’d also say there aren’t  a lot of people who want to speak English to you and most of the people working in the airport seem a little grumpy…could have been a bad day.

As a school administrator no, just no.  I'm sure the teachers just love it, eyeroll.  Doesn't she get that this is putting a huge burden on families that may be doing every thing they can just to get the kids to school in clean clothes with homework done?

I about lost it last year when I found out one of my site administrators required all of her teachers to decorate their desks for Halloween.  Had I known before she announced it I'd have told her no but it never occured to me someone would do that.

As a retired school administrator (elementary) this is why people get so jaded with schools sometimes. Keep it simple, too much of this stuff takes the fun out of it for everyone. I’m sure her pic is on a few home dartboards 🧐

  10. My parents lived there from 1967 to 1983… they built a hotel on St.Lawrence Gap in 1968 and another on the beach in the early 70s…I headed back to Canada to go to teacher’s college but finished gr.12&13 first in Stratford Ontario…my one brother followed me became an engineer the other hung around for a few years…our sister went to Bishop Strahan for HS…none of us wanted to live there except my youngest brother.

San Juan is now our preferred cruise port. We've done three cruises from there with our fourth in February. We did the ABCs earlier this year along with St. Kitts and St. Lucia on a 7-day cruise.

I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but our February cruise has zero sea days (Tortola, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Antigua, Barbados). It will be interesting pacing ourselves.

I think you’ll enjoy Barbados…my parents moved us to the island in 1967, 4 kids and a total culture shock.

Saint Lawrence Gap is interesting but exploring Bridgetown can be fun…if you like rum. I could go on but there is not enough space to talk about living there.
    Have fun…

Last week JinxyB sent me some pictures from a burger place in her hometown... Now, I'm having a tough time not jumping in my car to go devour one of these exotic burgers... They have toppings ranging from scorpions to tarantulas, and even python curry...
