Boarding should be complete by now. If they were headed to Canada we'd have heard about it.

Try walking past immigrations at an airport or port claiming that you are a US citizen and don’t find it necessary to talk to them,,, see what happens to you.
Try showing them your passport if they ask. See what happens to you.

This would be a Jones Act violation. This would also involve Customs and Border Patrol as you are reentering the US. To just “leave” would also be a CBP violation (if they catch it quick enough, you may get detained at MCO).
This is nonsense....don't listen to this person. No American citizen would be detained.

$762.00 per person, to be precise.
I had to make an emergency disembarkation once in Port Canaveral and learned this the hard way.

You an use 2 if booking a balcony or above more than 6 months in advance.
Inside of that they sometimes let you use more than 1, but it varies and depends if they're running a promotion or not. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

I hope the Gem keeps the new "old" menu. We'll be on her in November. Now we can finally have lunch for lunch - not huge dinner portions for lunch. I for one am sure happy to hear the good menus are back. I love the chicken and polenta. I hope they brought back the old breakfast menu too with Crab Cake Benedict on it too.:cool::hearteyes:
Crab cakes benedict was on the menu

They just put out the update that it will be a category 4 and not be hitting the coast until next weekend. So that is going to be putting you guys thru some really crummy weather
I would not trust NCL to not sail directly thru it to NY. Been there, done that with them.
Why would you trust NCL to not do that? They've literally done it twice in the last year.

NCL's public relations team sucks.
This is just like the NCL Sun renovations. They'll dig in their heels, try to satiate people with $25 non-refundable credit, eventually get a ton of bad press, and then grudgingly do what was the obvious decision in the first place.

This must be one hell of a sandwich. What's on it?
And I can confirm the roast beef/french dip sandwich is still dry.

The shrimp cocktail is the best, glad to see it return. Helps make lunch indulgent but lighter.
Give me the seafood frito misto over that any day of the week.
It's the same shrimp you get on seafood night in the buffet with some dill sprinkled on it to look fancier.

Looks like some people have bailed, I see some Haven Cabins and mini suites are not available
If they'd drop the solo supplement for the balconies I'd pull the trigger on this in a second.
-
I would take the 'old menu' every time. I hated when they changed.
What did you miss?
The menu they used up until the recent switch was a clear step up in both quality and variety.

How can you tell? The sailing is not on the site anymore
Yes it is, just now listed as a Bahamas sailing.

Just off the Gem this morning, and sadly they've reverted to their 2013 era lunch menus in Cagneys.
The previous menu was lovely (see here http://www.beyondships2.com/uploads/8/2/4/5/8245255/m223_cag_lunch.pdf) and was really one of the main reasons I looked forward to being in a suite.
The old 2013 menu (see here http://www.beyondships2.com/uploads/8/2/4/5/8245255/m_cagneys_lunch.pdf) felt like barely dressed up MDR food for the most part.
Is this a fleet-wide change?

Sailaway insides are available on NCL.com for this sailing right now for $499 with no solo supplement....
-
I always have to ask.

How are you going to personally deliver the tips to the back of the house workers that participate in the DSC?
Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
You mean the staff in the Miami office?
-
Potential advantage is lower rate close to sailing.
Or maybe it sells out fast and you get no room. It's a gamble.
-
I've always gotten two bottles.
Thank you! That's like $70 in savings right there
-
Bluetooth speakers should be banned from the ship.
Anyone that plays music on their balcony is pure human garbage.
-
I'm sailing in a suite as a platinum for the first time.
Do you get 2 complimentary bottles of water (1 for platinum membership, one for staying in a suite)?
-
Congratulations to you! Do you mind telling us what exactly you had and what you now have?
I had a $699 sailaway balcony with no solo supplement. That converted to a 9th floor BA balcony. Then I made the minimum acceptable bid for the suite upgrade and got it.

Booked a sailaway balcony on the Gem for $699 solo with no supplement.
Then got a minimum bid (300 x 2) accepted for suite upgrade.
Got to use 2 cruise next deposits, so paid $799 (plus taxes/port fees) to be solo in a suite on a 7-day sailing.
Beat that.

Ship and passengers will be fine.
It'll just be VERY rocky, and likely a missed call to GSC.
Also my condolences to anyone who didn't get a balcony. I was on the Breakaway in a big storm in February, and they sealed off 100% of the outside areas of the ship. If I didn't have a balcony it would have gotten extremely claustrophobic.
