  1. Again, have only seen the first half so far (but cheated and checked to see who got eliminated - yay - love living on the West Coast so I can check results 3 hours early). I loved the sweetheart neckline of Erin's dress but was then disappointed when they panned away to see that it was just a pencil skirt dress.

I hope Amy's ok. She and Derek were on Ellen yesterday (which was taped on Friday). Derek explained why he was doing the show this year after he had said he was taking some time off. He wanted the challenge of teaching Amy to dance. What a guy.

  2. It's not really humid inside the ship but if you have to go outside to get to an upper deck lounge or something, best to use an anti-frizz product (test it out at home first). Bring a hair band for a ponytail when doing excursions or for wind.

I'll never forget the time I did a speed boat excursion and forgot to put my hair in a ponytail. When I got back to the ship, I had to go to the hair salon and have them comb out the snarls!

I only wear eyeliner and absolutely nothing else so can't tell you about makeup. But you may be getting a tan on your face so not sure you'll need foundation or blush. Everybody's different.

  3. I agree about Erin's dress being ok and Carrie Ann's so-so. Redfoo was hilarious. (I only watched the first 50 minutes, up until the Macy dancers did their thing - will watch the rest tonight).

Drew Carey was on Ellen yesterday and said he'd probably be eliminated this week. So he was fine with it.

I love Tony too but it was weird for him to be so jealous of Derek last week - wonder if those two get along in real life.

I think Meryl's appearance makes her seem like an ice princess but I don't think her personality is really like that. She seems really sweet.

  4. I actually prefer the Keen sandals that have the protected toe - it's safer for walking on all the cobblestones in Europe (and hides the fact that I'm missing four of my little toenails ).

The Whisper style is narrower and not as boxy as the others. Since I have a wider foot, I do wear the boxy ones. SO comfortable. And I personally don't think they're that ugly. Alot of people wear them. Just saying.

  5. Thanks for sharing that article, Kerri. Very shocking. I think Samantha was the 2nd co-host but that doesn't matter, who really remembers the first season anyway. I hope she's ok!

I did enjoy this week's show - I think Derek may have learned something about letting Amy do more moves by herself instead of always carrying her and holding on tightly to her.

I still think the ice dancers have a huge advantage and one of them will probably win. Not sure how I feel about that. But I'm enjoying this season, unexpectedly.

Julianne's hair kinda looked like a wig but I know that she did cut her hair really short - the new style for women right now. She probably just used too much product on it, lol.

I liked Erin's dress - I guess she's going for the more casual look this year and doesn't feel the need to glam it up. We better get used to that.

  6. Watched it last night. I'm afraid to admit this but I absolutely love Erin Andrews - she's so funny. Her dress was meh but her personality is fun. I had forgotten that she was previously on the show. She got more famous after that interview with my Seahawks' Richard Sherman.

Mr. Billy Dee really needs to be put out of his misery on the show - poor guy. I can't imagine why he wanted to do this. And the hockey guy has zero personality.

    We shall see.

  7. The ice dancers were on Ellen Monday, and Ellen made a huge point of saying that ice dancing and ballroom dancing were completely different. The gal said "oh my yes, this is really hard."

I watched a few seconds here and there but will watch the whole show tonight. I especially want to see Amy? dance. I remember when Heather (Paul McCartney's ex-wife) was on and she had a hard time dancing with her one artificial leg. I can't imagine dancing with TWO artificial ones.

  8. On Dave's Royal thread, there are some lovely pictures of the Crab Shack on Page 20, but there is no menu posted. I got as far as page 40 before I gave up (he'd alread departed the ship by then). Just a lovely hour spent searching through Dave's thread...:(

  9. Wow! No Harry Wheeler and the band and singers. Why fire ALL of them? Seems like they want to go another direction, ala recorded music 100%. Yet the article says they would only do recorded music when needed. Doesn't make any sense.

Well, we shall see. What does everybody else think? I'm ok with 100% recorded music - they did it last season some of the time.

Any guesses yet on potential "stars"?

  10. I tend to be more carefree and spontaneous and outgoing on a cruise.

I hope this doesn't sound as sad as I make it sound, but in 2006, I went on a cruise after having both knees replaced and I was in better shape than I'd been in years. Was able to dance and had so much fun. I even did karaoke twice, even though I can't sing a note in key (I sang with somebody else so it wasn't a solo).

This is the cruise where I met my husband - who thought I was just so much fun. But I guess he also likes the quiet and real me because we've been married for 7 years.

I miss my fun self, lol.

  11. "At some point, though, at some level, what really matters about a man is how he treats people who hold no leverage over him, let alone how he treats those people in moments of tumult when it would be quite understandable if he just ignored the request."

Peyton Manning leaves crushing Super Bowl loss with reputation intact

A class act. It's about life, not just football.

You are so right, Peyton Manning is a class act, all the way! Even after the pounding we gave him in the Super Bowl, he still had the class to ask our Richard Sherman if he was ok, after his 4th qtr injury. Class all the way. I've always loved Peyton - but had to root against him for obvious reasons, lol.

  12. Good luck. I always seem to catch a cold on my way to the cruiseport on the airplane. This last time, I was determined not to. For 2 weeks prior to the cruise, I loaded up on an immune system booster pill, extra Vit. C, Airborne.

Two days before the cruise, a little girl decided to cough all over my arm at DisneyWorld. Yup, 3 days later, BOOM.

  13. Thanks, it's a fun story to tell. I did the short version, lol. We got married one year to the day we met - in Jamaica at an all-inclusive resort, barefoot on the beach at sunset (my dream).

We've been on 6 other cruises together but now have an RV, so that's our new lifestyle. We hope to cruise more in the future when he gets more vacation time with his new job.

He moved from Wyoming to Seattle to marry me - that's what happens when you meet somebody on a cruiseship - they usually live in another part of the country, or even a different country.

  14. I went on a Carribean cruise in 2006 with another gal from work. It was my third cruise and I was tired of dancing with other gals. There never seemed to be any single guys onboard. But this time I was determined.

I subtly made it known that I was looking for single guys to dance with. A couple from Curacao was at the pool bar and said that there's a single guy that hangs out in the disco each night and asked if I liked men with mustaches. I just laughed and walked away.

The next night, the gal from Curacao found me in the 5th deck entertainment lounge at midnight when the show was over and practically dragged me up to the disco on the top deck. And introduced me to my future husband.

So I guess you could say we were set up by a couple that has no idea what they did. Eight years later we're still living happily ever after.

  15. What's your opinion of a little black dress (although on me it definitely wouldn't be "little") with a colorful silky blouse used as a jacket? Or even a black skirt and tank with the blouse as a jacket? I admit I do stick to black because it's easy. My husband prefers me in color. So I do try to wear color sometimes. But I always revert back to the black. Sigh.
