Which cruise line isn't concerned with profit and one that you feel isn't nickle-and-dime'ing you? That's the one you should probably book with.

A 6 lb drop certainly indicates not a fun cruise. Usually 6 lbs up or more. Sorry that was a bad one.As for how to handle it. Depends if you always get get sick with the rough seas. Take normal precaution for sea sickness. As for picking a cabin if you are prone to seasickness. Lowest deck mid ship. No where else. Get at lest and OV cabin. Never inside. Stay on a deck with windows. Start to feel a bit under the weather. Concentrate looking at the horizon it should go away. The higher you go the worst it gets.
Luckily (knock on wood), I don't tend to get sea sick. I lived on the Gulf Coast in Texas for about 15 years so have definitely weathered my fair share of hurricanes and tropical storms. Not afraid of them but not sure I want to deal with the stress of one but if I see a good deal on a cruise, I may have to jump. I sincerely appreciate everyone's input to this thread!

Your photographs are amazing! May I ask what kind of camera you're using? So happy you had such nice weather so far.

I'm not ruling it out yet. The cruise works for my fall schedule and yes, if something changes, I'll roll with it! :)

I would fly in earlier but I'm thinking....maybe not the best idea! I wanted to take a cruise this fall but it looks like I may be back on a ship in the spring. Shoot! 😞 Thank you both for answering!

I'm eyeing a cruise the last week of October, first of November this year leaving Ft. Lauderdale and heading down to the ABC islands. Does anyone worry about the weather or do you just take out travel insurance that covers cancellations? I'd love to hear from folks that book at that time of year and hopefully it can help me make up my mind!

Yes, you can drop your carry on bag in your cabin prior to the cabins being ready. But I believe you will get your seapass card when you check in on the pier. I'll know for sure on June 27th!!
You're correct. You check in at the pier, receive your seapass card and drop your luggage. The check-in at San Juan Pier took less than 10 minutes and we were on the ship!

Day 5 on this magnificent ship. Like everyone I suppose that as the days go by we become more relaxed and less intense. I promised myself that I would do this review of the suite and the “edgification” of the Summit not so much because I enjoy doing it and spending my time this way. Rather, it was based upon four factors. First, the fact that I was so hungry for information about the renovation. Second, that I became very concerned about information that I was receiving based upon speculation and tidbits here and there. Third, that I was damn angry at Celebrity for not providing actual photos and credible information about the ship and its renovations. But, last, and most important I want to pay it forward for all of the wonderful information that I have received on the boards by the kind and generous people who took time during or after their vacation to post pictures and reviews . It has helped me in so many small and big ways over the years. Oh, one other last and important reason. I totally get it if you are paying large amounts of money for the top suites or suite and expect a great experience. But I have become so frustrated by those (sometimes self included) that criticize the smallest of things when we are in the biggest of suites. Don’t get me wrong. When I am paying this kind of money my expectations are high, but I have to say that there have been some awfully nasty people and comments on these boards. As well, I love to really get to know my cabin steward and butlers. As the days have gone on they have very carefully and appropriately opened up to me about the frustrations and anger of prior guests in the top suites. Will a cube around a table (while is in the process of being replaced) as opposed to a chair really ruin your entires cruise? Especially since there are 5 very comfortable chairs around the dining table inside that can be placed outside if needed. Is the fabric or firmness of your huge living room sofa really going to ruin your cruise? Is the fact that you do not like all the KH vases and coral (that at least in the top suites) can be easily moved going to really ruin your cruise? Please do not take your frustrations out on the staff or butlers!
before I pause let me state that while we were in Tortola today the noise on the verandahs above was fairly loud. I think that they must be somehow replacing verandah furniture. As well, I know that additional artwork has been placed on the wall since we boarded....while we were out of the suite, of course. I know that there are still things that are being done and fixed per the Butler.i will tell you that the staff have been absolutely amazing and kind and that the ship is beautiful.
hope to give my promised review of Tuscan Grill and QSine today......stay tuned.
I so appreciate your review and I also appreciate you mentioning how people have nitpicked the renovation to death. I finally had to use the Ignore button as every time I came here, it was so much negativity. I was just on the Summit a month ago and had the most joyous time meeting people from all over the world, taking in the beauty of the Caribbean and unplugging from the hectic world we all live in. One thing in life....if you look for something bad, you'll always find it. On the other hand, if you look for the good, you'll usually find that as well. Have a wonderful rest of your trip!

I will be staying in a concierge room in August 2019. Can anyone tell me if there is a full length mirror anywhere in that type room. Thanks.
Yes, there is a full length mirror on the inside door of the full length closet.

Obviously we have no way of knowing if there was a mental illness component to the situation. But I do wonder if there wasn’t a bipolar issue, maybe? When they go manic they can become very belligerent and rash, insulting and very hard to calm down. Afterward, they often don’t even realize how out of control they were or how much they offended others. I’ve personally seen this several times with one of the members of our extended family who is bipolar.
Changes to everyday routines and less sleep than normal (hello, vacation) can push otherwise stable bipolar people into a depressive or manic state. When manic, they don’t have much sense or foresight into the consequences of their actions.
Not at all making an excuse for such horrible behavior. He should be disembarked. Just making an observation that if it wasn’t alcohol-related, maybe there was some aspect of mental illness that contributed to his behavior.
Or, I don't know, maybe he was just an entitled, racist first class JERK!

I found the fridge worked great! I asked our room attendant to remove all the "for cost" items and we were able to keep our soda and water very cold.
Our fridge worked great as well. We also used it to store excess water and Diet Cokes for our own use at night. Happy to have it! 🙂

I kept it in its box and had it in my carry-on luggage. I bought it because so many other cruisers said it was fine and was never confiscated. It worked out well.

This will be our first cruise on Celebrity and my first cruise in at least 12 years. I read a Cruise Critic article on packing tips and they said to bring along a NON-power surge power strip and had a link to one on Amazon. I purchased the exact one they recommended. Now I am reading in the forums that no power strips are allowed. Can anyone offer some guidance? I don't want to bring it if it is going to be confiscated.
I used this exact same one on my recent Celebrity Summit cruise and I carried it on without a problem!

How lovely to read such a nice review from someone who has actually sailed in the Revolutionized Suite! Much appreciated.

Thanks all - really appreciate the input and advice. We will plan out our carry on / portered on luggage with the assumption that our carry ons will be with us until the rooms are ready, and if we can stash them in the cabin before heading to lunch, so much the better!
I just got off the Summit on April 6th and we indeed were allowed to drop our carry-on luggage in our cabin prior to having the Concierge luncheon.

Not at all. What I find obnoxious is when one person saves a whole row of seats......for their extended group of family and friends. If there were enough seats for everyone who wants to go to a show, then there might not be the seat holding. While every cruise is different, my recent experience was enough to turn me off. Celebrity has added more cabins to many ships. The size of the public spaces has not been increased to handle the extra people. M ships added cabins on deck 3 and aqua class cabins on deck 11. New renovations add more cabins where the ilounge, acupuncture, and library were on the original deck plan. The Reflection added a whole extra deck of cabins compared to other S class ships. Again, no extra room or seats in public areas. Added to that, kids sail free. I can imagine an even greater number of people trying to use the same number of seats. I go on vacation to relax, have a good time, and enjoy the food and activities. I do not want to deal with people holding seats for people who may or may not ever show up to occupy those seats. When Celebrity started sailing, the ship size was ideal. My first Celebrity cruise was on the Zenith. There was always enough seats in all venues . Never had to hunt for a seat. The service and food were fabulous. As time as passed by, the original Celebrity died. While the ships are glitzy and have more bells and whistles, it has poorer service. Food choices are stale. Quality of the food is just ok. It isn't bad. It isn't great. As an elite plus, I have experienced the gradual changes over the past 3 decades. I have 5 future cruises booked, none on Celebrity. I am not sure if I ever will book on Celebrity again.
OK, but just curious. Why are you here then? If you dislike Celebrity so much, shouldn't you be posting on the boards of the Cruise lines you DO like?

Ship: Summit
Revolution (2019 onwards) - Yes
Cabin: 7181
Deck: 7
Class: Concierge
Area/Location: Aft-Port
Bed Location / View: Wall-facing
Quiet? Yes
Balcony/Porthole View: Excellent! Watched the sun set several times from our balcony
Balcony/Porthole Size: Standard size balcony but roomy with two chairs and a small table
Wind a Problem? No issues with wind at all
Soot a Problem? No
Problems / Comments: The newly updated room was wonderful! We had the beds separated and it felt very roomy. Lots of drawers and shelves to store things. The beds were very comfortable and I easily stowed my 28" and 20" suitcase under my single bed. I bought two small collapsible boxes from the Dollar store and used them on the bathroom shelves, freeing up any clutter from the sink. You could do the same in the stateroom with the shelves at the dressing table. The new colors are lovely and very soothing. It's only a few steps away from the aft elevators so it was extremely convenient as you took it right up to 10 and the Oceanview Cafe in the same area. Highly recommend this cabin!

I had upgraded my beverage package two weeks ago to Premium. On our Summit sailing, it's now offering the Premium package at 62.10 per day, excluding gratuity. I called Celebrity to see if I could get the difference in price but the guy I spoke with said no, you had to upgrade at $10.00 per day plus gratuity, so no discount for me. Has anyone encountered this before. By the way, he cancelled my previous upgrade so I had to do it all over again when I finally got off the telephone. Is this accurate? By the way, the Classic Package was one of my perks.

Those of you on Summit soon, would love to know for certain if Qsine is still the original menu, as is the case with Millennium, or the Petit Chef, or some combination of the two.
And for those of you who are technically inclined, would LOVE to see the dailies!
I'm sailing on the 30th and I plan to pick up fresh dailies to photograph and as many menus as I can get my hands on. I'll also be taking pictures as well but I probably won't post anything until I return. I can't wait! :)

Discounts in Restaurants
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
We were on the Summit six weeks ago and although they had folks outside of the Oceanview Cafe, we were not bombarded by anyone at all! They were totally respectful of all passengers and most folks knew what they were there for, so if they wanted to ask about a discount, they could.
