  1. I just booked two balcony cabins for end of May cruise on the escape, using the sail-away rate. I assumed we would get the lowest balcony category, and it wouldn't be assigned until just before boarding (which really didn't matter regardless), but they assigned us cabins right away and they were Cat BB, mid-ship on 12th floor (which it looks like have a little larger balcony than most). Our cabins are only a few away from each other which is cool too.

The promotions dont apply to the sail-away rate. It would have been nice to have those as well, but the price is so much better that for us we are fine with giving up the promotions. We got emails to bid on upgrades, and I think the mini-suites wouldn't cost much to get, but honestly, we like the cabins we got so we will pass. We have stayed in the Haven suites twice before (on the Gem and Jewel), and loved it, but I dont think we will even bid on one this time. We literally booked this as an afterthought (picking up son from West Point which is 45 minutes from NY City, so decided to see if any cruises leaving from there at same time). The Sail-away deal was too good to pass up. Ill pay for my beer and wine as we go.

  2. My spouse and I had one 1.5 liter bottle of wine and it was not allowed on the ship. The bottle was taken away from us and was in our cabin just after dinner on the final night.

Hmmm. How recently was that? We are on the dream this Sunday out of New Orleans. Wondering how strict they are. Sounds like we better stick with the 750 ml, but wish we could get away with more. We actually like a cheap moscato better than anything else, and won't get that on the ship, even if we wanted to pay for it.

  3. I understand that there are restrictions as to bringing wine on the ship, and that adults may bring one 750ml bottle in a carryon bag. Without being lambasted for deviating from the rules, has anyone had success bringing the larger 1.5 L bottles of wine in the carryon (or extra bottles in the luggage)? Not trying to get away with a ton extra, but the 1.5 L would be better.

Any help on this subject would be appreciated.

  4. Perhaps things have changed since our last suite cruise, but our experience has been that suite passengers do get a lower zone number for debarkation. In our case, it was always zone 1 or zone 2. Just checked and according to Carnival.com, "Priority embarkation and debarkation" is one of the amenities you get with a suite.

Ya, I just looked, and it does say priority disembakation. But in other areas it lists only priority embarkation. wondering if it is worth me getting the FTTF. Seems i shouldnt need it. Not many perks with suite on carnival. Doesnt eaven look like we will get priority reservations for dinner. Oh well, no real biggie I guess.

My last question is, assuming I will get the priority disembarkation for the suite that my wife and I will be in, will the kids, who are in an aft balcony be able to disembark with us?

  5. I have a question for those in the know. I sailing the March 29 Dream with my wife and two kids. We have two rooms; an aft balcony, and an Ocean Suite. We are driving, and live in Michigan. It is important that we get off the ship as soon as possible, and on the road, because I need to drive straight through. We have sailed many lines previously, including carnival, and I know we have used the Faster to The Fun package before, in order to get some priority disembarkation. My question is, do I need to get FTF with the suite, or will I get priority disembarkation as a suite perk? I know the suite gets me priority embarkation, but I am worried about the disembarkation.

While I am asking questions, does anyone have tips for getting off the ship in NO and on the road quickly? We are going to just park in the terminal garage. Any help is appreciated. Thanks friends.
