  1. We had the same issue.  I heard there were buses if you walked a few blocks.  Check out the museum near the university campus.  Some people went to the hot springs.  My hubby was sick that day...a cold virus that ended up to be pneumonia,  so we stayed close to the hotel...not much to do there.

  2. We were there earlier this month.  The Westmark was OK, nothing fancy, but clean and kept up.  There was not much to do in the general area...walked a few block to the Thai House for dinner.  A few blocks away, you can get a city bus to go to other areas.  We did go to the museum near the University campus...was interesting.   The Fairbanks airport was a problem for us...our flight was cancelled because of mechanical problems, and we were rescheduled on a flight 28 hours later...then, that flight was delayed...got home Monday at 3 pm, were supposed to get home on Sunday at 6 am.  Not good memories of the end of our 2 week Alaska adventure!

  3. We just returned from our Alaska adventure.  We left our hotel around 11 am and walked to Canada Place.  There were a lot of people already there at the port.  We've never cruised before, so didn't know that to expect...there was "quite the process" to get on board.  I didn't check the times, but all went smoothly.  I don't remember how long it took to get our luggage, not too long.  Sorry I'm not much help, but have a great time!  Our land/sea adventure was great!  We were on the Westerdam!

We did the Alaska-Yukon-cruise a couple of years ago, with three nights in Denali. IIRC, the train left Anchorage about 9am, and arrived in Denali about 4 or 4.30. By the time you get off the train, get on the bus, drive to McKinley Chalet Lodge and get settled, it'll be dinner time. The next day, you'll probably take the Tundra Wilderness tour, a day-long bus ride into the park (assuming it's part of your package; ours included it). Again, you probably won't return until late afternoon.

The third day is free, so you're on your own. The park's visitor center and sled dog area is over a mile away,  but not a bad walk. My wife went to both these places in an afternoon, and thoroughly enjoyed them,  especially the dogs (she's the alpha dog at home).

    Good luck!

We're going in 3 weeks...YAY!...we were trying to figure out how to see sled dogs.  This looks like our opportunity! Can you walk from the hotel to the park visitor center?  When I look on the map, it says the visitor center is 3 miles sway.

Any permanent USB outlet can be used to charge a USB-powered device.  Bring a multiple USB adapter so you can charge all of your devices at the same time.

Any suggestions on a brand for the "multiple USB adaptor?"  I'm looking at amazon, and there are a lot to choose from.  I'm reading that it can't have a surge protector.  Thanks for your help!
