Hello Fellow Cruisers:
We just returned from a Family Carnival Cruise to the Mexican Riviera. It was nice trip- affordable for our family. Me (F50), husband (M53) and son, (M18). The biggest plus was being able to drive to and from the port, with no added airfare. It was a fun trip, especially since our son kept us on a schedule of fun activities, instead of just going to the room after dinner. But, I have to say we might be done with Carnival altogether. We returned home on Saturday, 8/12, and on Sunday, 8/13, booked a 7-Day Caribbean Cruise on Celebrity Beyond in May 2024.
A few questions:
1. Typically, (if there is such a thing) are Celebrity ships usually sailing at full passenger capacity? I ask, because on our last cruise (Carnival) there were 4K passengers. It was A LOT of people- which we knew going in. But definitely, a turn off. I've seen several You Tube videos, of people sailing on Beyond, and it just doesn't seem that crowded, even at peak times. I know the capacity is about 3260, but was wondering, do the SUITES ONLY ACCESS areas, make the other areas less crowded? What was the feeling of the ship as far as "crowdedness"?
2. We're sailing the beginning of May, and hoping to avoid a ton a kids on summer vacation- We love kids, but after the Carnival experience, we're hoping to experience a little more of an adult vibe. What has been your experience with kids sailing on Celebrity?
3. If you could only book one or maybe two specialty dining places on Beyond- what would they be? The La Petite Chef looks intriguing. Thoughts?
4. And of course- the most controversial topic of ALL. the Infinite Veranda!!! On the last few cruises we have enjoyed traditional balconies. My husband is really wanting to try the Infinite Veranda, and that is what we booked. My biggest concern is the heat factor, if the AC goes off when we have the window down. Also, along this line, I read online that if your neighbor has their window down, it can turn off the AC in your cabin. Surely that is not the case!!! Any thoughts on these IV cabins is appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any information- looking forward to a very special cruise.
