  1. It actually is bourbon, by definition, or very close to it. They just don't like to call it that. The only thing that differentiates Jack Daniel's, for instance, from Kentucky Bourbon is the charcoal filtering. You can get arguments but if it meets the standards for mash bill and proof it's bourbon.
  2. I imagine that Clay, being from NC, is one of many who do not consider Scotch to be whiskey. Picture some poor kid from Indonesia showing the mini bar to a guy from Tennessee or Kentucky and pointing out the "whiskey."
  3. Rum. Typical stocking on our last cruise = one each of: Bacardi Rum Smirnoff Vodka Beefeater Gin Dewar's Scotch Whisky No Bourbon available!
  4. On our last cruise we dined in Chef's once and cancelled the rest of our reservations in favor of Manfredi's. We had the "included" wines that one time but those did not factor in.
  5. From you I'm hearing "Save the fifty bucks" --- thanks.
  6. Some friends of ours (of Swedish descent) have highly recommended Sjätte Tunnan Medieval Restaurant in Stockholm. Has anyone here had an experience?
  7. "Free" mini bar is of no value when you have SS. Except for the tiny snacks that is.
  8. Are the "premium" wines worth the extra $25 pp? We are not wine snobs but don't mind spending "well spent" $$$.
  9. Maybe changing "gratuities" to "service charge" - which is what "gratuities" really is.
  10. You're assuming that something in writing from Viking is worth the paper it's printed on. Bad assumption.
  11. I wonder how to find out. You damn sure aren't going to get a straight answer from Viking.
  12. Two of us were hauled in a van from the hotel in Vancouver to the airport at about 3am. So much for air plus.
  13. The aircraft is configured by the airline - is it not? People blame the aircraft for how the seats are positioned/cushioned?
  14. On a clear day you can see Denali from Anchorage. There are, however, very few such days.
  15. Push the button - save 3.3%. Watch out for Viking's accounting system though - it was developed in the Middle Ages and hasn't changed since.
  16. Don't remember how far it went before but don't be thinking you're going to see a mountain.
  17. Where did the sea route maps come from? Very interesting.
  18. Very good advice above. All I can add is: Research thoroughly, prioritize and be ready. Check MJV often.
  19. I'm guessing our post extension in Iceland will be well attended but probably no way of knowing. Much appreciate the info. Thanks!
  20. Last day of extension (heading to airport)? Any cost? Where?
  21. Maybe will run more smoothly in Iceland? Thnaks!
