  1. We are not first time cruisers but didnt know where to post this question. We havn't taken out Insurance before but really feel we want to for our next cruise. My question is does the Insurance really include what it says it does and pay out in the event of ilness etc. We are planning to book a Princess Cruise with a large seller of cruises and not the crusie line (not sure I can mention the name). Is it better from Insurance purposes to book with the cruise line? Thank you!
  2. Thank you! We sailed on Odyssey of the Seas a year ago and thought the food was the best yet. Cruises were just getting going again after covid and the ship was only two thirds full but this probably had no bearing on the food quality.
  3. Looking at a cruise this year on Emerald Princess. Can anyone compare food from this ship compared to any Celebrity or RCL cruise ship. Have never sailed on Princess but food is a priority for us.
  4. Just saw your other post.... we used GTI on our cruise last year to Israel and found them excellent. Happy Cruising.
  5. Thank you again. I am thinking the two inside cabins is the best for us also.
  6. Thank you for this reply and info. Do you find you have to book far ahead to get the Family cabins? I like the idea of two inside cabins . Do you have to pay full price for the inside cabin for your daughter? Single price? I usually use an agency and try to get a deal but they dont always have the same selection as the cruise line. Appreciate your response.
  7. First time for him but not for us. Looking for cheapest way to cruise for three of us re cabin(s) Thinking of 8 or 10 day Caribbean in Nov/Dec 2023.
  8. any advice on the cheapest way to cruise for three of us? Thinking of Caribbean in Nov/Dec 2023
  9. If you book a private ride for 7am which may be the earliest you can disembark you should be fine. A travel agent will probably err on the side of caution .
  10. It's too long a walk from ship to station especially if hot. We had luggage as our cruise finished in Civitavecchia. It's a bit of a zoo when so many want to reach the station at the same time but everyone got on a train that wanted to while we were waiting for our train which was about an hour. Figure out which two or three places you would like to see in Rome and which station is closest then pick your train.
  11. If you search Civitavecchia on this site you will get answers from previous cruisers. We disembarked Odyssey of the Seas in June. If you have a ship tour booked you get off first. Otherwise you are given a time. There is a free shuttle to the train station just close by where the ship docks. The cruise line don't tell you as they want $25 US to take you on the ten minute drive to the station. No traffic jams. Which train you get depends on where in Rome you are going. We prebooked seats on the 9.16 Frecce train to Rome Termini. Handy for the colosseum. It goes direct. No stops. Earlier trains stop at other stations. Trenitalia is the name of the booking platform. However we got on in the wrong carriage and with suitcases couldn't get past people standing. We did just sit where we were as we did pay for first class seats. Lots of people from the ships were buying tickets at the train station. There is a taxi stand outside Rome Termini station and no problem getting one. They do drive fast and it was a scary ride. No doubt you will get more replies and there will be cruisers on your ship who have done it before and can help.
  12. SORRY .....we found it best price.
  13. Try Booking.com under taxis . We used them end of May and their price was the best. Also sent a higher priced vehicle . A black limo van that could have seated more than just the two of us. You get the price when you book so no surprises.
  14. Yes you can still walk in and out of the port. Its a long walk dragging luggage in the heat. Not far inside the port is a free or maybe a few euros shuttle to the ships. Some cruise ships are docked quite far away from the cruise entrance. The roads and walking areas as I remember from earlier this month are often cobble stones. Most people struggled even to walk as far as the shuttle. You will see many other cruisers in the area and can check it out beforehand.
  15. so I just received my credit card statement and the pharmacy was called Pharmacia Palombo. You can probably google it for directions etc.
  16. I copied the above from our cruise board. We mde an appt. with the last one Paolo Turchi then couldnt find it but did stumble on the one I first mentioned near the Port entrance and had it done there. Not sure which of the above it was.
  17. Dr. Paolo Turchi Farmacia Dr. Paolo Turchi. Viale Guido Baccelli, 160 00053 - Civitavecchia tel & fax: 0766.38.00.01 mobile: 348.73.35.401 farmaciapaoloturchi@gmail.com FB: Farmacia Dr. Paolo Turchi
  18. Civitavecchia Pharmacies 1. Corso Centocelle N. 52/54 Farmacia Spurio SNC Del Dr. G Spurio EC 2. Largo Giovanni XXIII N. 5 Farmacia S. Gordiano SNC Del Dr. Amalfitano EC 3. Viale G Bacelli 160 Farmacia Dr Turchi Paolo Hopefully these are spelled correctly
  19. No I don't but it's closer to the water and next to a restaurant with a large patio on a busy street. Ask anyone for pharmacia near the Port. The entrance to the Port is close by. If I find it I will post.
  20. There are at least three pharmacies in Civitavecchia within 10 minutes of each other and the port..walking. Just go to the first one and ask if they don't do it they will tell you who does. It only took us 30 mins from start to finish. It's the same test ee do at home. There are some posts on Odyssey of th Seas MAY 25th.
  21. Lori, If the Coliseum is on your list I would start there and work back to other sites. If it's as hot as it was last week (90's) this will not be easy. If this is your first stop you can take the 9.16 am Frecce train which goes direct to Rome Termini and then walk to the Colosseum. Book tickets online to avoid long lines. First Sunday in the month is free admission and it's a zoo. Avoid it. We were in Rome in cooler weather before this visit and walked everywhere...with the heat in summer this is not a good plan . So how to get to your three sites of choice would need to be researched. We havnt done the hop on and off bus but it might be worth looking at. We used the metro to go from east to west. Depending where you end up would then need how to figure out getting back to ship ie which train station.
  22. You can still walk...very few were walking last week when we docked.
  23. Lori, If you know where in Rome you want to go first eg. Colosseum it would help to advise on train.
