Our last cruise was during the time when there was still daily testing and a great emphasis on hand washing and general hygiene to prevent Covid infection and we both saw a disturbing number of people not washing their hands after using the public loos. I despair!

For those who have done them, are they expensive?

We did this trip, and although wouldn’t do it again I would recommend it highly to others if they did reintroduce it. I think every port was just a short stroll into town and so many wonderful things to see. We missed out on Montenegro because it became a red zone for us Brits which was a shame.

I’m sure that was a factor. I thought I’d bring it up as it’s the only time I’ve had access to a spin dryer on a holiday and the only time my costume has stretched like that. I’m not saying the spinner was the cause but just thought I’d mention it as it crossed my mind that it “may” have been. It could have been the fabric wasn’t up to containing my well fed and changing shape 😂

On our last cruise I was a huge fan of these spin dryers as they do get your cozzie 99.99% dry. However …… I went in the spa pool almost every day and noticed that my swimsuit seemed to be getting looser day by day (which was odd as everything else was getting significantly tighter as our almost month long cruise progressed) I’m not saying it was the fault of the spinner, my swimming costume wasn’t new, had plenty of use during the cruise but it was definitely not worth packing at the end of our trip, I chucked it in the bin as the fabric was perished/had lost its elasticity. Next time I will take more than one and ring the changes and it won’t stop me using the spinner but thought I’d mention it, for what it’s worth!

@OneSixtyToOne Thank you for highlighting the Historic Dockyard and all that can be seen there. Portsmouth is just along the coast from our home town so my mouth dropped open at the OP comment that there was nothing much to do and was delighted to spot your comment praising the Victory and Mary Rose. Disappointing for you OP (sorry it won’t let me @ you) that you weren’t given any information onboard to consider this as an option. I can see that a bus tour of the town (not the most attractive of places) did not hit the spot.

Sorry I’m not clear which of my comments you are referring to. That information provided in advance is ignored and regathered or that passports were taken away with no explanation (despite asking why).

Yes same thing happened to us although we were more like an hour away from the front of the queue, so although we didn’t express our annoyance it was simmering away underneath! We also had our passports taken away from us, we politely asked why and were told “It will be explained to you” it wasn’t ! We got them back quayside a few days later when we had to submit our passports to that country’s immigration officers.
