In current climate there's likely less chance of getting a 2E balcony (obstructed deck 6), but pre COVID, there was good chance of that.

I agree,  they claim to assign best available and I would think many balcony cabins are available with sailing well below capacity

    Thanks

We are celebrating our 50th wedding on a river cruise next year. We’ve done one previously and loved the experience. Only about 100 to 200 guests a very different experience but we really enjoyed the quieter pace and more personalized service. We dock right in port. Tours included in price everyday. We sailed with Avalon through France and are doing Zurich to Paris with Viking next year. In 2023 we are doing Amsterdam to Budapest.

Amsterdam to Budapest is a great trip, enjoy!

Since many cruises are sailing at greatly reduced capacity, I wonder if that increases the chance of getting a free cabin upgrade?  If they are sailing at 50% capacity, it seems that the cruise lines wouldn't have anything to lose by providing free upgrades.  Why would they keep people in an inside cabin, if there are plenty of vacant cabins in a higher categories

Why don’t you just purchase the cabin type that you want.  So many people want free “stuff”

We're with you on Constellation 11/7, so I also hope that one flies!

Here's a fairly comprehensive explanation of all of the Royal restart changes:

Edit:  Nuts, they blocked my link.  It's all over on the royal caribbean blog site.  Very detailed.

For Radiance, it appears that all of these are canceled:

Radiance of the Seas departing Miami: October 15, 2021- April 10, 2022

We received an email last night advising that our Radiance cruise on 3/4/22 was cancelled. Now we are hoping that the Constellation on 1/14/22 will sail as scheduled.

    Ok Bnurick,

I have been following and reading every detail shared so I would like to first thank you for posting your experience.

Now you deserve a commission, we just booked a Sky Suite for August 28th! Can’t wait to get back on the seas.  We have 6 cruises booked for next year but after reading about your experience we couldn’t wait to January.

What time do you set sail out of Nassau today. Would like to watch on the web cam.

Thanks again, have an outstanding evening and safe travels home.

    Cheers! 🍸

    Nice post!

I would also caution that there have been times due to weather/seas that Dominican Republic stops have changed or skipped- the port was changed on a cruise we were previously on and I have heard of inablity to tender due to rough seas on others

Thanks for the response.  Is Puerto Plata a tender or docking port?

  7. We are on a 10 day cruise in January ‘22 on the Constellation.  We are considering debarking 2 days early in Puerto Plata to spend a few weeks at a resort in the DR. Has anyone had any experience in doing this with Celebrity.
Thanks in advance for any info.
