  1. First time traveling with NCL soon, when we arrive at the port, will our luggage be taken from us at that point? I recall on other cruise lines arriving at the port and then handing over our luggage. The luggage then made it’s way to our cabin. In reading over some NCL posts, it sounded as if folks had their luggage with them while they waited for their rooms to be ready. Thanks!
  2. New question about checking in: Can my husband and I check in together or do we have to have separate logins? We are both listed as traveling together on the NCL account, but it is in his name.
  3. I know this was not a “fun” topic to discuss and I truly appreciate the feedback from all who posted. I wish everyone safe, healthy travels in your journeys going forward!
  4. Thanks, Ellis and mjk, that’s the exact info I was looking for…really appreciate it!
  5. Thanks for the replies, not trying to be controversial at all, just wondering what the current processes are “if” one becomes ill with covid on NCL and if paxlovid is available. I will be asking my doctor for a prescription “just in case”, but I’m not sure if providers are doing that and I doubt my insurance would cover it. I am trying to gather info only, not making a judgement on folks traveling while ill. The reality is that some of us could have the virus, or some other illness, and not even know it. I understand there are risks to travel and catching an illness is one of them. Thanks again, and I wish everyone safe and healthy travel journeys!
  6. We will be taking our first post pandemic cruise (our first NCL) this winter. I am wondering if there is Paxlovid at the medical centers on NCL? And, if you go to the medical center and test positive, do you quarantine in your room? I do not see too many current posts about people’s experiences with covid during their cruise. We are up to date with vaccinations and will be crossing our fingers that we remain healthy on our cruise. We’ve always enjoyed our previous cruises in the past and are looking forward to trying out the NCL experience. Despite being very careful we unfortunately got covid on our first post pandemic big trip (not a cruise). But, we know that risk exists in everything we do each day and are hoping for the best with our upcoming travel. Thanks in advance for any insights/experiences.
  7. We are close to paying for our cruise in full and I then plan to book and pay for excursions I am interested in. If we change our minds on some of the excursions, can we cancel and get credit on our our credit card? And, how long in advance do we need to cancel if this is allowed?
  8. Thanks for your positive review of the Jade. We will be sailing on this ship next year for our first NCL cruise. It’s disheartening to read “negative after negative” reviews and very refreshing to hear of the wonderful time folks have had on the Jade. We prefer a smaller ship and after sailing mostly on HAL, we are looking forward to trying a different cruise line. We chose this cruise based on the itinerary and the port from where it leaves.
  9. Thanks so much for your review of the Jade, as there are not many reviews of this ship on CC. We are looking forward to our first NCL cruise aboard this ship in 2024 and appreciate your positive review. As others have mentioned, it’s unfortunate to see so many “negative” reviews (my understanding is that this is the case with other cruise lines as well) as I feel that many of the negative comments seem like nitpicking. We are looking forward to our first cruise post pandemic and I’m hoping to see more Jade reviews on CC!
  10. We have a balcony room, midship on the 10th floor.
  11. I will be cruising on the Jade for the first time in January. In past cruises on HA, there were make up mirrors in the cabins. In looking at several videos that people have posted about Jade cabins, I haven’t seen any of these type of mirrors. I like to pack light, but will pack my own mirror if the cabins on the Jade do not have mirrors. Any previous cruisers on the Jade have any info on their cabin mirrors?
  12. Looking to snorkel either in Sosua in Puerto Plata, DR or St John’s/Antigua, which one would be better?
  13. Thanks for the follow up!
  14. Thanks for this review. We are thinking of booking a tour with Lawrence. It sounds like his tours are quite popular. How long in advance should I book? Do you prepay or pay on the day of the tour?
  15. One more question: do you get a refund on your original payment or do you get an OBC? Thanks for the quick replies!
  16. First time on NCL, trying to get as much info as possible. Our cruise is not until January 2024, but I’m seeing some excursions are starting to appear to book. When can you book ship excursions? Do you pay for excursions when you book them and if that is the case, do you get a refund if you change your mind? Thanks, in advance!
  17. How far in advance can you book excursions on NCL? Our cruise is not until January 2024, but I’d like to have an idea when I can see what the ship offers. I like to compare those prices to excursions I plan to book on my own. In looking at the general list of port excursions on the NCL website, I see very few snorkeling excursions in the ports we will be visiting. I like to plan in advance, but know things can change, know to be flexible, just looking for a general guide from those who have sailed on NCL before.
  18. In reading through the various ports in the DR, I’m confused as to which port the NCL Jade will use in January 2024? The information I have states we will be in Puerto Plata, but in reading the info, it seems like there are several ports in the DR. Would love a clarification on this, thanks!
  19. If the reservations mentioned open up 12MN Eastern time, do folks on Pacific time have to wait 12MN their time or can they book starting 9PM (which would account for the 3 hour difference)?
  20. To Lloyd Jr: Did the reservations for the main dining become available when the specialty dining reservations opened?
  21. We are new to NCL and have a cruise planned in early 2024. I have seen the posts about making reservations for the specialty dining venues, but am wondering if it is necessary or advised to make dinner reservations for the free main dining areas? And, if so, do those reservations open up the same time as the specialty dining restaurants? Thanks!
