  1. Could you expand on this a bit? What type of entertainment was there in the evening?
  2. Thank you fur your post @maggie.1008 We are not terribly experienced cruisers, and with one exception all have been on Celebrity. How was the entertainment in the evenings? We went on Regent to Alaska last summer and were bored stiff after dinner. We are not big nightlife people, but listening to the same pianist in the lounge every night got old very quickly. Also, how was the service in the restaurants? We found it very inconsistent on Regent and really missed the personal service we’d had in Luminae. And the sommeliers seemed to just push the “featured” white and red wine of the day and had no interest in suggesting wines to pair with our meals, I’ve been interested in Explora but after our Regent experience we’re not sure that small ships are best for us right now. Our next cruise we are back to the Retreat. Anyway, I’d appreciate your thoughts.
  3. We have some Bonvoy points but unfortunately most of our points are Hilton Honors. Not our choice but Hilton was corporate preferred hotel. I’m not sure if we can maybe transfer Chase points. I’ll take a look!
  4. @princeton123211The Grand Bretagne is $1500/night when we’re there! I can’t justify that unfortunately. I think the King George isn’t much less but I’ll take a look.
  5. @carlmmMy thoughts are that since we have 4 nights, we won’t be as rushed as those that spend only a night or 2 pre cruise. Therefore maybe not as necessary to stay in Plaka, where availability is low and prices are high in September.
  6. We really don’t have a choice about the timing as flights are already booked. May I ask where you stayed? The hotels our TA recommended have mixed reviews about noise and size of rooms etc.
  7. Looking for feedback on the Modernist Hotel - it is in the “embassy” district. It appeals to us as it is a quieter area but still about 20 minutes walk to the Plaka. Our TA is really pushing us to stay in Plaka. We will be there 4 nights. Have never been to Athens so any firsthand experience is welcome!
  8. Thank you - I will take a look. We just booked this cabin for our Greek cruise.
  9. Thank you for your reply @rcrabb1513. It was very helpful.
  10. Thank you - I will try to book deck 9.
  11. @rcrabb1513 We are considering 9301 on Silhouette for a Greek cruise this fall. We’ve never had a sunset suite - would you mind telling me how you liked it and if you had any issues? Thank you!
  12. There are 2 corner suites available - one on deck 9 and one on deck 8 - on a Silhouette Greece cruise this fall. Does anyone know where the window washing equipment is parked and if it is outside these suites, how much of an issue is it? Any input would be appreciated!
  13. Thank you - I will watch it this afternoon. I’ve seen a few of her videos - she does a nice job.
  14. There are aqua sky suites available. Seems silly to spend more as we don’t use those amenities, but may be worthwhile. Thanks for the info!
  15. Thank you everyone - we have decided on Silhouette. Now just concerned about noise from OVC above sky suites - any thoughts on that?
  16. Thank you @bikerunner. I am leaning towards Silhouette. My only concern is that the sky suites are under the OVC. Appreciate your insights.
  17. We are looking at a Greece/Turkey cruise in late September. The best options for us are Aqua Sky Suite on Infinity or Silhouette. We have not been on either - itineraries are very similar, both RT from Athens. Our past cruises have been Equinox, Solstice and Edge. Any opinions on the differences and pros/cons of each ship would be appreciated
  18. I don’t have many cold weather dresses either. When we went to Alaska last summer (on Regent which is way more strict than Celebrity ie, no jeans anywhere after 6) I mainly wore black pants and switched out a couple tops. I think you could just get a couple nicer tops and you’d be fine. A solid color tee would work and if it’s short sleeved bring a cardigan. Or if you have a scarf throw that on with it. You’ll be fine. Have fun - the fjords are on our list.
  19. Kataska, if you are going on a Caribbean (or other warm weather cruise), you might want to buy an inexpensive sundress or 2. They are my go to and so easy to throw on with a pair of sandals. Also take up very little room in suitcase.
  20. @paulh84Thank you! We are leaning towards Apex as we like that itinerary a bit better so that’s great info.
  21. Thank you both @Georgia_Peaches and @Ex-Airbalancerfor your replies. I had figured a Magic Carpet suite could be considered undesirable, but wasn’t worried about that. Hadn’t realized there’s a sky suite next to them. Probably still worth the risk for the lower fare.
  22. We are looking at several March 2024 sailings and the price for a suite guarantee is substantially less than that of a sky suite. I’m trying to figure out the downside of a guaranteed suite on either ship. On S class I’d be concerned about location due to noise from the OVC, but that’s not an issue here. Anyone able to confirm my thoughts here ( or point out where I’m incorrect)? Thanks!
  23. Thanks for that info. We were very disappointed with our Regent excursions in Alaska this summer - 4 of them 5 hours or so with no snacks or lunch provided or even available to purchase.
  24. Thanks for your input. That is a lot of OBC! I did notice excursions are pretty pricy. We have to make final payment Monday. I have some misgiving given some of the posts I read, but I’m thinking we will give Explora a try. 7 days in the Caribbean can’t be too bad!
