  1. Juneau:  It’s 11:12 pm and we haven’t left port. All aboard was 8:30pm. We heard someone in the elevator say that 2 people are missing. Anyone know what the real story is?

Nightclub is 18 and up. Drinking is 21 and up on US departures.

    Casino is 18 and up

    Shows

    Game shows

    Music in different lounges

All perfectly fine for 20 year olds.

They can do everything aboard except buy a drink - on US departures..

We are currently on the Crown and my 20 year old nephew was told he couldn’t be in Skywalkers unless he had a parent with him. What’s up with that?

Can't really tell from the photos, but I would suspect that this is from the "fresh air" AC system, so moving to another room may not solve the problem, as that system supplies many cabins in common.  It looks to me like the air filter in the air handler has plugged up, and blown through, allowing particulate matter, like from the engine exhausts (and some looks like it was in the filter for a while, and got salt encrusted), to travel through the ductwork.  The "stringy" bits in the top right photo look like a piece of the air filter.

That kinda makes sense. We will check with our neighbors if they noticed this too.  And I will talk to maintenance again.   We are on this ship for 8 more days. There are no other comparable rooms to move us to since we are in a suite and only insides are left.

Did NOT notice anything like this in Nov/Dec OB 28 nights.

Are in an Aft facing cabin?  Deck and location?

Yes we are in an aft cabin, Crown, D736 but this is happening when the door is closed. We purposely closed the doors, cleaned off the chair and table and did not open anything for a few hours.  We also cleaned the outside tables and chairs and these particles were not on them.

  5. Has anyone experienced or noticed small particles/debris coming out of the air conditioner on the ceiling or just in the rooms?  There seems to be small specks of mostly black particles landing on everything. Some have blue or yellow in them too.  I’ve taken close up pictures to try and figure out what they are.  We’ve had maintenance come in to clean out the vent but it’s still happening.  What could these things be?  Was there a fire or other incident on the Crown where this could be coming from?  They are very small but can be seen on the chairs and tables.

  6. What are the current rules for age requirements to be in Skywalkers?  I’m not asking drinking age, I’m just asking if there are any specific times that 20 year olds get kicked out?  What is there for a 20 year old to do at night when the rest of the adults and family members over 21 are hanging out there dancing? I thought it was 18 years old to physically be in there at night?

  7. Out of my family that usually gambles on the ship, my youngest nephew, was 19 on that cruise, was the only person that received an offer.  It was a small reduction in cruise fair for the 1st 2 people in the room and $100 free play.  Now that he is older, and plays more, hopefully he will get a better offer.  It makes no sense how they calculate it because I know, older family members spent more and got nothing offered.

How does it work if you book your next cruise while you are on the ship and get FCC and then when you get home, you get an offer from the casino?  Can the bookings be switched?

I was just there in May and from what I can remember:

The taxi line into the garage is quite organized. I arrived via taxi at around 10:30 AM.

The waiting area is slightly organized, with rows of folding chairs. Yes, it is crowded. Once boarding begins, it becomes a chaotic mess. Lines form from all directions, which eventually morphs into one single line. But everyone was respectful when all the lines were merging into one.

And while first boarding was scheduled to begin at 11 AM, it really didn't start until 11:30 AM.

On disembarkation day, the taxi line to exit the terminal is very organized too.

Where do the taxis drop you off?  Can you hand your luggage over to the porters or do you have to lug your luggage up an elevator like a lot of people says happens.  Can Ubers and Lyfts drop off where the taxis go or is there a special place for them too?

My wife especially loves the formal nights, and I don't mind them.  I would just as soon not bring a tux - but I was curious about how many men wear tuxes on Alaska cruises. There were quite a few on the TA's we have been on.

My son, age 22, is going to wear a tux with a vest and a tie that he already owns from a cruise in 2019. This will be on a 10 day Alaska next week.  He is excited to wear it.  At least one young adult is still into formal nights.  His cousin would be too if he didn't loose his pants to the suit and they just found out today.  So I guess my son will be overdressed but he is okay with that.  He looks really sharp and we will get some nice family pictures.

  10. What brand of waters do they have on the Crown in Alaska?  There is a specific reason why I am asking.  I already know the water is safe to drink onboard.  Stateroom Bottled Water Package $7.08 for 12 (500 ml) bottles

12 (500 ml) bottles of water conveniently delivered to the stateroom. Price includes service charge.

    Pre-cruise exclusive

  11. We will be on the Crown next week and my sister has asked me 4 times now if they still do the Ship Tour.  I can't find the answer through the search bar.    Also, on another post, they said that Crab Shack is Back but I can't find any info on it on the Princess website.  If anyone is on the Crown or an Alaskan cruise right now, are they currently having the Crab Shack and if so, which days?  And if anyone remembers from years past, what days did they normally have it for a 10 day with 4 sea days, 1 glacier cruising day and 5 ports?  Thanks.

  12. What questions do they ask on the scanner?  i saw a video awhile back that someone brought 2 laptops with him on his trip, one personal and one for work.  They made him pay fees/taxes/penalties  for the second one since they didn't believe that they were both for him.  They said that he was going to leave it, like it was a gift for someone.  What exactly do you have to declare?  Do you have to list all your electronics and jewelry over the $800 even though its personal and not gifts?

  13. On the Crown, for the upcoming June 13th - 23rd Alaskan Cruise, the sign ups are on Day 1 at 9:45-10:00am and the drop is a few hours later, at 1:30pm same day.  That doesn't give much time for the newbies to figure it out.  It is better if there is a few days in between to get creative or at least have it on Day 2 or another sea day.

  14. If you buy the $500 at $450 and add it to your onboard account, what happens if you don't spend it all?  Is it put back on the gift card?  Can you cash it out at the casino? Can you apply it to a future cruise? And what happens if you cancel that future cruise?

  15. I just bought 3 different wristbands (marketed for airtags and kids)  off Amazon and they arrived today.  They all fit me and my 22 year old, 6'2" son too. My sister bought a few other versions to try.  So far, we like the silicone ones the best (black/navy 2 pack $11.99, also comes in several other colors).  They are soft and smooth and we each had a few holes left so they can fit even a bigger wrist than ours.  It also looks like a life preserver which is cool being that we will be on a cruise.  It is only open on the front and the back is closed. The clear one is more of a flexible hard plastic (2 pack $9.99 and there are a few other transparent colors).  I have it on the 4th hole but it is leaving a band mark on my wrist already and the 3rd hole is too loose.  My son touched it and said he didn't like it because it was too rigid.  What is cool about this one though is you load the medallion from the back and it has a clear cover on the top.  It will be less likely to pop out. Plus clear goes with all outfits and is less conspicuous. The third one (black/purple, 2 pack $9.99) ) is a stretchy elastic, the easiest to take on and off, however is open on both the front and back.  I have it set to the largest opening and it is loose.  The elastic one would fit any sized wrist.  The fourth one (Gray band $15.99 each) is metallic mesh that is magnetic.  I'll post an update when my sister gets them.  The medallion fit in all the ones that I just tried.  I borrowed my neighbors medallion to test them.    Air Tag Bracelet for Kids(2 Pack), Soft Silicone Air Tag Wristband Kids, Lightweight GPS Tracker Holder Compatible with Apple AirTag Watch Band for Child (Black & Navy Blue)iSurecoube Air Tag Bracelet for Kids(2 Pack), Soft TPU Air Tag Wristband Kids, Lightweight GPS Tracker Holder Compatible with Apple AirTag Watch Band for Child (Crystal)AirTag Bracelet for Kids, AirTag Holder with Elastic Wristband, Anti-Lost Watch Band for Apple Air Tag, Adjustable Strap for Toddler 2 Pack(Black Purple)Airtag wristband kids- Airtag bracelet for adults Kids -Airtag Holder with Adjustable Metal Milanese Watchband, Apple airtag watch bracelet for kids Toddler Child Elder Compatible Apple AirTag

  16. Has anyone stayed at the River Rock Casino pre or post cruise?  How do you gamble there if you have US dollars?  Do you go to the cashier and they exchange it for you? Is it a fair exchange rate? Do you use your debit card or credit card to get cash for the tables?  What happens if you win and have a lot of chips to turn in?  Do you get CAN dollars back?  What /how can you convert back to US dollars?

I stayed at the River Rock in January because I had an early flight next morning and was worried about traffic and snow. I can definitely recommend it, as it was very easy to get to the airport, clean, comfortable and quiet rooms. Note there is also a casino on site and several dining venues, so no need to go further if you don't feel like it.

If you have US dollars, how do they convert to CAN dollars?  Can you use your debit card, credit card? What is the exchange rate and do they charge fees?

So, something I haven't brought before but I'm bringing this time is a cheap bed sheet to tuck around the loveseat in the room. The last time we cruised was in a family suite and the group before us must have had out of control kids because there was jelly or syrup or something all over that couch. Our steward tried to clean it as soon as we brought it to his attention, but we still found sticky spots as we would sit the rest of the trip. We also joked about what other things are probably embedded in those couches and were so grossed out we're going to see if we can use a sheet as a protective cover this time.

You can probably ask for a bed sheet so you don't have to bring one.

Well, don't nobody hold their breath, there must be a catch!!!

Yes, after you do the 30 day consecutive exercise, or 30 days of thier classes, then you win the chance at playing the game.  You must win all 50 rounds the fastest in order to win the car.  Each round has different rock, paper scissors items so it will get confusing.  My bet is no one can win all 50 rounds.  Once you loose 1 round, you are out.
