  1. To answer the question about cruise credits, when we took an upsell (not upgrade) about four years ago, we did indeed get two cruise credits each.  I can see those two credits in my cruise list, so I know it actually happened.

Enjoy your suite, voljeep.  I know we did.  And, yes, we WERE able to subsequently drop down to mini-suites and balconies, but it hurts.  😂

  2. You know you're not in Cuba anymore.  And disappointingly so.

I've been following along from the beginning, ever since you posted on the Princess board.  So glad you piqued my interest from that initial point.  Now I know I would love to visit Cuba AND do so on Azamara.  BTW, simultaneously with reading this review, we were dogsitting for friends who were on an eight-day land visit to Havana.  They absolutely loved their trip.  Everything about it.  They returned Monday, and we are now the proud owners of a bottle of Havana Club Anejo Especial, which came wrapped in Havana newspaper.  I impressed them with my outcry of "Cuba Libre" when that bottle came out!  :-)

Thanks again for bringing us along.  I'm so sorry your Cuba adventure story is almost over.

OK, who is this guy who gets called to attend the Chef's Table?  I'd never heard of that, before.

    :classic_huh:

Good for you.  I'm still enjoying the reports.

I'm dying to know this, too!  Congrats!  And I love the review.  We are doing the M/R b2b with a CA Coastal on April 27th and May 4th.  You are giving me lots of ideas for the M/R!

  4. Personally, I would go for the mini.  Any time we go back to a balcony cabin from a previous mini, I am shocked at the difference (when we walk into the balcony cabin).  In my opinion, the extra interior space and the two TVs are well worth giving up the extra balcony space.  We absolutely loved our mini on the Regal TA this past fall.

  5. Thanks for the candy cane dresses picture!  I know the family issues must be disappointing.  It's all about expectations, isn't it, and we don't "expect" such things to happen.  But they do, and I'm glad you have such a good attitude about it all.  I hope the fun parts have continued and that you will soon be back to tell--and show--us more!

  6. Thanks for sharing your great review.  I'm happy you like the Princess product.  So do we.    We will be on the Royal Princess in April/May for a Mexican Riviera cruise b2b with a Pacific Wine Country cruise ending in Vancouver when she repositions to cruise Alaska for the season.

  7. Speaking of avocado . . On our Regal TA this past September, we were being escorted to our shared breakfast table when we passed a table for two where the gentleman was eating a whole avocado, sliced in half, placed upside down on a plate.  This item WASN'T on the menu.  Needless to say, that morning and nearly every morning thereafter, either my husband or I would order half of an avocado (a whole is just too much richness).  We enjoyed this treat immensely.  We just sliced it to accompany whatever else we were eating.  I guess we could have put together avocado toast!

  8. We had A414 on this same cruise with the extended angled balcony.  It was a mini-suite, so that might not appeal to you.  It was a great balcony, but we found this cruise too cool to enjoy the balcony much at all.

In general, we loved the Royal class ship.  You can definitely get larger balconies, so I, too, would urge you to check for those.  You will probably have to book early to get one.

I have been on both the Regal and Royal in the mid section.  We typically choose one of the mid-ship minisuites (Baha or Aloha deck) with a larger angled balcony.  I would say that the size is comparable to the balconies on the grand class ships. Most of these cabins from Baha deck and above are designated as Club Class.  I believe ones on the Caribe deck are not Club Class, and the Dolphin deck are balcony cabins, not minisuites.

If you book one of these cabins, I would choose one on the Port side (even cabin numbers).  You’ll still be under the Seaview Bar, but it is less intrusive than the starboard cabins under the Seawalk.

We had minisuite A414 on the Regal's TA this September.  We loved the cabin, the large angled balcony, and the location.  It was the first portside cabin past the Club Class cabins.  With that huge (for the Royal class) balcony, I'm surprised it's NOT classified Club Class.

  10. I had the same issue yesterday trying to book my first cruise as an Elite--there were no Deluxe Balcony cabins available on the Enchanted's 11-5-20 Transatlantic.  I was awake at 2:30 this morning and checked again.  Voila!  There they were!  Immediately wrote my TA to grab the one that was first on my list, which she did at 7:30 my time this morning.

Is early Elite booking always this problematic?

Me thinks that many were already sold even before the so called early Elite release.

Yes, and I don't understand it.  Not very happy about it either.  My TA tried to book the minute bookings opened, and none of my five cabin choices were available.
