  1. Another option is to search for a cruise & use the "Flight Quotes" option if anyone is hesitant to check flight options through their Cruise Personalizer.

That's what I do, Frank. I don't go into the actual booking until I've checked out the options first and know I want to make a change. That way I don't have to worry about accidentally hitting the wrong button.

    I love EZAir!

  2.

But again, I'm only speculating....but its based on my experience. I'm certain he'll be offered a plea (or 2), and I'll be very surprised if he actually takes this to trial.

The voice of reason once again, and it makes perfect sense to me.

On a different note, thanks go to Tom for sharing a difficult story. Hugs to you.

  3. I just now saw this, buried at the end of a report from news.com/au. Apparently this comment is from an onboard passenger and was posted at 1:38 this morning. Completely unverified, of course.

We got a letter on our doors saying we get 25% of our cruise money back plus $150 each to spend how ever we want or cash

  4. About three years ago, we had a $199 per person upsell to a suite from a mini on a Caribbean 7-day cruise. We totally loved the experience, but it was once in a lifetime for us and had no effect on our future cruises. We know if we are to continue cruising, it won't be in suites, so we are happy with balconies and minisuites (mostly balconies)! I say do it and enjoy and then go on!

  5. Thanks for posting. I didn't get the email but did call. They said that it was capacity controlled and no longer showing as available at the promo price. Oh well.

For all of those who were able to get that promo price, enjoy your cruise. :D

Just to better understand, did anyone who didn't get the email get to book the promo?

Apparently not. My TA tried to get the promo for me and several of her other clients who called her inquiring (after reading the initial post here) . . to no avail. I was sick.

  6. Both cabins are at the very back of the ship. The view is fully obstructed meaning little or no view. There will be ship structure of equipment blocking your view.

I've seen you post that before without apparent knowledge of the cabin in question. Have you actually seen the view from this one? Please note that all "fully obstructed" cabins are not created equally. Some have a quite decent view, others do not. We have chosen several that only had "obstruction" if one looked straight down. The view straight out the window was perfectly clear.

  7. I may wait until the S+S ends to hopefully have a similar 3 for Free offer that's been previously available by September in past years which was better for me.

But, Frank, wouldn't it be better to go ahead and refare under the Sip and Sail just in case the 3 for Free isn't what you hope? If it IS what you want, then you can refare again. :)

Getting the best deal is fun, isn't it. :D

  8. ....<snip>

Because it was early in the season we were frequently the only ship in port, and as such we were able to dock almost everywhere. The itinerary was the reason that we chose this cruise, and we really enjoyed it. Based on this experience, Holland America would be at or near the top of my list for another port intensive itinerary.

That was an amazing blog you did for this cruise, Cindy. Incredible pictures and port/ship descriptions and info. Can you provide a link here?

  9. For me, it doesn't matter what the itinerary is, or what time of year, or even how much time we'd actually spend out there. It's just a matter of your cruising style.

If you're the kind of cruiser who's always out and about, there's less value in an enjoyable room. If you are the type who likes to rest up between activities, maybe read a bit, and just enjoy the feeling of being at sea, then a balcony makes a lot of sense.

We're the latter type, so we almost never sail without a balcony. A lot of what I like about cruising simply isn't available from an inside cabin.

    Jim

Exactly. Kind of hard to explain, but I totally agree with the last statement: "A lot of what I like about cruising simply isn't available from an inside cabin." It's as simple as that.

  10. I don't understand what age or size has to do with this. I understand the sentiment of:

"On several cruises, some Elite were sending out 5-7 bags a day. Princess is not paying attention or monitoring this so we all lose. :("

    But I don't understand what:

"in a variety of sizes, from children's to extra large"

has to do with anything. If an Elite passenger is large and has children, are they supposed to be monitored more closely? And if so, for what? Are large parents not supposed to get the same benefit as every other Elite?

I'm not Pam, but I'm pretty sure the last statement was implying that certain Elite passengers send out laundry for everyone in their group (not even in their cabin). Thus, the children/grandchildren/friends at lower loyalty statuses are reaping the benefit of free Elite laundry, thereby clogging up the "free to Elite" system.

  11. Why do I have a feeling going forward they'll be considered insides for purposes of booking incentives (OBC, etc.) and FCC?

Scary thought. Hope that's not what happens on my already-booked obstructed deluxe (extended) balcony with no obstruction. :) It doesn't have an inside price, so I hope we don't get inside incentives and FCC credit.

  12. It's crazy. I keep checking the price of my Obstructed Deluxe Balcony on the Regal, and suddenly several days ago I couldn't even find that category! Did finally see that it was in the Interior section. Just knew it was a mistake, but no! Still there.

Sure would like to know Princess's thinking on why obstructed view cabins are now considered interiors.

  13. I could understand 'disappointed', or even 'upset'.

You could still buy drinks and pay per drink, the only issue was a package price.

    And, this produces anguish?

If I found some aspect of my planned vacation causing 'anguish', I would plan a different vacation.

Good grief. If I apologized to you for using the wrong word, would that make you happy? Or would you just prefer to berate me a while longer. Your choice.
