  1. Can anyone help?

We are thinking of tagging a cruise on to our Orlando visit, would we have time to get off the ship in Miami, clear immigration, pick up a hire car, drive to Orlando Airport and catch an 8pm flight to Dublin?

I can estimate everything except the immigration, our last stop would be St Thomas if that makes a difference.

    Thanks

  2. Don't know what the sofa bed on Azura is like but we did this on Aurora and it was the worst thing ever. Having spent a night on the sofa bed I would not even put small kids on it and my boys were 14 and 11 at the time. We managed to get an empty inside cabin for the remainder but actually would have been better in our original cabin which had 2 sets of bunks, and was £600 cheaper.

Hope you have a better experience.

  3. I use hiking poles every day as I have a nerve problem with my back/leg and need extra support and balance help.

I used them on Equinox daily recently and other than a few "are you going skiing" type comments nobody batted an eyelid.

  4. We got off the ship and there was a bus waiting on the quayside, it took us to the entrance of the port.

From there we walked to the old fort which was free to enter and explore. We then walked up to the port area, took the free "ferry" across the harbour and explored a bit.

Le Petit Train apparently took you up to the church overlooking the port, we did not realise this until later, wish we had done that.

It was a lovely relaxing day and DS got the most amazing ice cream - 6 flavours shaped on the cone like a flower with petals.

  5. We have just returned as well. The crickets were odd. Reminded me of the first time we stayed at Disney World. Got a bit wearing. Martini bar music was a nightmare. Bar tenders kept turning it up.

Food was pretty good on the whole, only found it too salty once or twice.

There was no English breakfast or Darjeeling tea in cafe al bacio until Marseille, and it ran out before we got back to Barcelona.

    Had a great time though.

  6. Hi, I'm hoping someone can help.

Looking at the various tickets for the vaporettos.

3 of us will be in Venice next week from 2pm until 2pm (roughly)

It would appear that a 24 hour ticket would cost €20 each

You can also get a 10 Journey book of tickets for €12 - can this be used by all 3 of us giving us 3 journeys each? Like in Barcelona.

Even if we had to buy one of these books each it would still be cheaper than the 24 hour pass.

Am I missing something? We are hoping to go to Murano if that makes a difference.

    Thanks

  7. Thank's for your input, His Uni goes back next week so we will see what his timetable is like and maybe make a phonecall.

We are thinking of him joining in Livorno or Civitaveccia and leaving in Venice or Dubrovnik.

If they were to charge for him as a 4th person what we paid for the 3rd person when we booked it then it's a no brainer. If it were full fare then that's another matter entirely.

    Something to think about.

  8. Has anyone added a 4th person to a booking for part of a cruise?

We have a cabin on Equinox for ourselves and younger son as older son is at Uni. The cabin we have booked sleeps 4.

It now would appear that older son might be able to join us for part of the cruise in the middle.

I doubt if it would be possible but would be interested to know if it had been done.

  9. Our first cruise was 2001 on the old Arcadia - went on to be Ocean Village. There was a midnight chocoholics buffet, we were allowed to fill our plates and take them back to the cabin. The look on our kids (6 and 3yo) faces in the morning were a picture. It was amazing, there were cakes, desserts and many different types of "Thorntonesque" truffles.

Still have the pictures (pre digital) somewhere.

  10.

I wonder if they have yet set up a service printer at a bar so the waiter can enter a drink oder in the MDR and the order spits out at a service bar and a runner has enough information on the order slip to deliver the drink to a table and seating position....

    .

We were on P&O a couple of weeks ago and this is what happened there.

DS being a bit of a computer security geek got talking to the drinks waiter about how his system worked. Turned out it was a wifi network who's only security was an easily discovered password. It would have been easy for someone with not a great deal of knowledge to alter their bar bill!

We haven't had problems getting drinks in the MDR on Celebrity, biggest problem was getting them to stop pouring!
