  1. Very true, but alas the kids want to stay together, and I don't think anyone but me will put any thought at all into what to do until we actually board the plane to get there! ha
  2. Okay... I took the advice to look up what cruise ships are in port on the same days and wondering if that changes some of my plans! That is a lot of cruise ships in St. Maarten that day! MON, FEB 20 St. Thomas, USV * Voyager of the Seas - Crown Bay Dock * Enchanted Princess - West Indian Co. Dock TUE, FEB 21 St. Croix, USVI * Voyager of the seas WED, FEB 22 Philipsburg, St. Maarten * Arvia 6.264 passengers * Norwegian Pearl - 2.873 passengers * Celebrity Millennium - 2.590 passengers * Voyager Of The Seas - 3.938 passengers * MSC Seaside - 5.336 passengers THU, FEB 23 St. Lucia * Voyager of the Seas * Vision of the SeasFRI, FEB 24 Barbados * Brittannia - 4,406 passenger * Voyager of the Seas SAT, FEB 25 St. Kitts, Kitts and Nevis * Voyager of the Seas * Norwegian Epic - 5,074 passengers
  3. A day out on a catamaran is always my favorite day! That said, this is basically my dilemma... So much to worthwhile things to do on each of these islands... I need at least 2 days (preferably 3) without a major excursion expense where we are just going to a beach or wandering around town. * Barbados & St. Maarten were my two options for that... Alternatively, which island is best for a bit of shopping? 🙂 Nothing specific or high end in mind... Land based activities at least once * Corosol in Saint Lucia * Maybe Gregg's tour in St. Kitts...
  4. Thanks! I am borderline obsessed with Buck Island, but not sure if it is worth giving up the time to see everything else on the island. There also seem to be to lots of great beaches where we could do a shore dive here as well, and those that want to stay above water would have a few more options (though, everyone in the group does enjoy snorkeling)!
  5. Looks like the rum tour in St. Croix isn't currently running ;( Oh well... Will just have to buy the rum! ha
  6. The blow up things in the water at the Boatyard is definitely what will be the hight for the kids! Thanks for the feedback!
  7. SUN, FEB 19 San Juan, Puerto Rico MON, FEB 20 St. Thomas, USV * private snorkel full day boat tour confirmed TUE, FEB 21 St. Croix, USVI * snorkel Buck island half day or * Beach day on ??? not sure which beach! ha Maybe Cane Bay where some people can SCUBA from the beach WED, FEB 22 Philipsburg, St. Maarten * free day, window shop and beach * A few people might go on a one tank dive who are not interested in shopping! 🙂 THU, FEB 23 St. Lucia * Probably a land/sea combo tour... Still having a hard time on this one FRI, FEB 24 Barbados * Still torn... The adults ALL want to go rum tasting, and the Boatyard looks amazing for the kids! SAT, FEB 25 St. Kitts, Kitts and Nevis * 4x4 - Maybe Gregg's tours or * Beach Day at ??? SUN, FEB 26 San Juan, Puerto Rico
  8. For the most part everyone wants to stay together for excursions, but what I am struggling with the most is what days to not plan anything more specific than a beach day... Definitely in St Maarten and I can't decided where else! 🙂 And yes, the train is definitely a bad idea for this group 🙂 We have 2 full days in San Juan before the cruise departs (plus departure day) and then we are spending on night there before returning home (unless the airfare miraculously falls!) Our plan there is San Juan - Thursday: Dinner at hotel - Friday: Explore Old San Juan - Saturday: Maybe zip lines here so we can do other things on excursions - Sunday Cruise departs Return - Just relax at the hotel. We are staying at Fairmont El San Juan on both ends.
  9. By other side of the island - do you mean Cane Bay or somewhere else? 🙂
  10. Sweet! That is exactly what I need for St. Lucia. I actually debated between this cruise and a week on St Lucia and had so many ideas on what to do there for an entire week! 🙂 ha As for no sea days, that was a request of some of the others in our group 🙂 I'm good with that as well, it is just that the kids will want to get in some water slide, flow rider and laser tag, and some shows and things in the evenings so we can't be off the ship from 9-5 every day! 🙂
  11. So many things! Good options for both St Thomas and St Kitts! St. Lucia is especially hard as I am torn between the jungle and the sea! 🙂
  12. Thanks! My first attempt at narrowing it down was included, but sometimes hearing peoples direct experiences here is so much more informative! It is over winter break and with many many schools out that week I am trying to get a jump on the planning! We take the kids out for a week at a time quite regularly, the school gives us a whole independent study packet for them to complete, but this time they are only missing 2 days of school 🙂
  13. Thanks! My kids did the drift snorkel in Tahaa (French Polynesia) last year and it was just about their favorite thing ever so that is probably right uo their ally, but possibly not everyone else’s! They were definitely spoiled by the snorkeling in that trip and I was aiming at finding a couple stops that would be comparable! My 10 year old is also getting SCUBA certified this fall, but it sounds like this is a better place to snorkel than dive! 🙂
  14. Thanks for the very detailed suggestions!! St Croix is a hard one, as I am torn between seeing the actually island and going out to Buck Island! Definitely with 10 people private is the way to go! Do you have any favorite companies around San Juan?
  15. None of us are American and I had no idea Washington spent time in Barbados! 😉 I was thinking more something getting a feeling of the island itself. Thanks for the rum tour tip!
  16. We are 6 adults, 4 kids between 6 and 10 sail on Feb 19 Voyager of the seas southern Caribbean cruise. There is so much to do on each island, and then fun to be had on the ship that we struggling to find a balance. Can some who has been on this route help me out? SUN, FEB 19 San Juan, Puerto Rico MON, FEB 20 St. Thomas, USV * private snorkel full day? (Is there a better island for this? TUE, FEB 21 St. Croix, USVI * snorkel and SCUBA Buck island half day WED, FEB 22 Philipsburg, St. Maarten * free day, window shop and beach THU, FEB 23 St. Lucia * zip lines FRI, FEB 24 Barbados * no idea…. But would like to experience a bit of the island… SAT, FEB 25 St. Kitts, Kitts and Nevis * no idea…. SUN, FEB 26 San Juan, Puerto Rico thanks so much!
  17. We are a group of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids ages 6 to 10) going on a RCI 7 day Southern Caribbean cruise out of San Juan this winter, and it is so many new ports for us and I am struggling with what to do in Barbados to really get a feel for the island. My husband would like do some rum tasting, other than that, none of us have any ideas for Barbados, what would you all suggest? I've included the rest of our ports and what we are considering for tours on each island below in case that helps at all. Pretty up in the air about St. Kitts as well, but I will post that question to that page! 🙂 One of my biggest challenges is planning which islands to do water based tours, and which to explore by land! We have a few SCUBA divers, and everyone loves to snorkel... Charlotte Amalie - Private full day snorkel excursion St. Croix - Half day to Buck Island St Maarten - No excursion. Shopping, beach. Relax. St Lucia - Zip lining, jeep safari, waterfalls Barbados - Too much to discover! No idea what to do. St Kitts - Rent a car or take a bunch of taxi’s and explore the island
  18. Essiesmom - those are my thoughts as well. The kids will likely have minimal time to for the more kids friendly activities. RCCL - Pros, waterslides and more activities for the kids, no at sea days Celebrity - Service, food, ambiance in general.
  19. I cannot decide between RCL - Voyage of the Seas or Celebrity - Millennium out of San Juan for Southern Caribbean Cruise of of San Juan for a Feb 2023 cruise. Help! About us, Active 60 something grandparents, parents, kids (6 and 10). The RCL cruise has no at sea days, the Celebrity cruise has one. Rates are similar (factoring in gratuities and drinks) and Millennium has cabins with upper births, which will make the kids happy.... What would you pick?
  20. Hello all! It has been a bit since several of you stated you would be sailing on Voyager of the Seas, I'm curious what everyone thought? Torn between a sailing on this one, or Celebrity's Millennium...
