It was really well done. Many of the same singers from Hairspray. Great visual effects, I loved when the Wright brothers plane flew over the crowd.

It reminds me of the show we saw on Oasis" Come Fly With Me "  which was amazing what they did on a theater on a ship!!

I also wanted to ask you how  you got to the Marriott?  Was it through the ship? or Resortfora day or on your own?

Thank  you for your great review and beautiful pics.!!!

  2. Following along! :classic_biggrin:

So excited to read a live from the Symphony.  I wont be sailing until July, but these reviews help me through the long wait.

I was wondering if you could let me know the date and times of the shows? or point me in the direction where i can get some info.  There used to be a Showtimes at a glance pdf but i cant seem to find it.

So thank you so much for taking the time.

    Have a Happy Birthday!!

    Bon Voyage🛳️⛱️

  3. The pool next to the kids' splash area is for all ages. The other pool is for adults-only.

Only saw kids in there.

The H9 includes spa access but I've never seen a H5 that includes spa access and has a Jacuzzi.

Yes we were in an H9~~~ sorry for the confusion

  4. Breakaway has 2 pools for the masses on deck 15. One pool is for all ages and the other pool is for adults.

I thought the other pool was for the kiddos or we would have gone in:confused:

    Were you in a H5 or a H9?

we were in an H5 that included the spa pass

  5. Hi

Just got back from our first Haven experience. July 1st sailing. Bermuda was amazing!!

We were on the Breakaway last summer with the masses;p And couldn't even stick our big toe into the main pool it was so crowded. Why they have one pool the size of a postage stamp for the amt of passengers is beyond me.

I then decided to convince my husband that maybe we should try the Haven. They have a nice pool and 2 hot tubs. and a beautiful sundeck. But kids playing football in the pool is not my idea of a Haven. There should really be an adults only time during the day and evening as the OP stated.

We booked an H5 with spa privileges that i used maybe once. But that was my fault. it was really nice. I did enjoy the jacuzzi tub in the room.:D

While we enjoyed the experience we will not indulge again.

Totally not worth the double price over a standard balcony cabin..

Don't get me wrong our Butler Cipriano cant be beat. what a gem.He was always around. So pleasant, but David the concierge was useless. And like the OP said he was never at the desk.

The afternoon snacks delivered to the cabin was a nice touch, but we can get that with our status on Royal so that's not a deal breaker. We also get drinks with our level on Royal. The unlimited drink pkg was nice along with the specialty dining. But you get that anyway with your cabin of choice other than the Haven.

The reason we jumped ship (we're diamond + with Royal) we wanted a longer stay in Bermuda:D hear that ROYAL!!!!

We have the Symphony of the Seas ,and Oasis class ship, booked for next July:hearteyes:

    Can't wait!!!

    Liz:D

  6. Needless to say I won't be booking any cruises on the Bliss, will have to do the Pearl for Alaska or really check out the smoking policy on Princess
    (y)

Heading back to Royal next summer where they are more respectful of smokers.

There are still a few designated areas but there are comfy couches and chairs in a covered area.

If we had known that the escape isnt allowing smoking on the Waterfront i doubt we would have booked:o

Reason being is that our first cruise with NCL was on Breakaway last summer and it was so nice to be able to smoke at the high top tables and have a waiter get you drinks and it was covered in case of inclement weather. So we were spoiled LOL

So as an aside we have sprung for the Haven and will be curious about how many people will complain about the smoking on deck 19 forward which is a designated smoking area.

And little OT~~~ and the kids running amok in the Havens pool and Jacuzzi area but sorry i digress ;p

    Liz:D

  7. Go look at the Haven page on NCL. One of the pictures is a family with a kid, maybe 10 years old, in the pool!

Don't stress it. You'll have a great time.

No i'm really not too stressed LOL I couldn't even use the main pool on the Breakaway. So it will be fine. As long as i can swim in the Spa its all good:D

  8. To be fair and unbiased, the advertising definitely shows kids in the Haven. I just think we don't process that when we see the advertising. People don't generally equate luxury with kids snorkeling in hot tubs ;)

    Maybe you're right.

.In most of the advertising that i saw it showed couples relaxing or in the pool .Maybe i was in denial LOL

i don't remember seeing kids in the pool.Or in the Jacuzzi?? Is there just one Jacuzzi in the Haven?

If they have 2 maybe designate one for kids and the other for adults??

It will be fine~~ i now know what to expect;)

  9. Definitely not my first cruise! We wanted to venture out and try something new and never sailed ncl. So got a baby sitter and planned a spa retreat haven getaway with the wife. Lol, wish we had brought the kids! We still had a nice time and ncl does a lot right, if you liked breakaway then you know what to expect, with the Haven being even better. I can't recommend the spa enough. Boy did ncl do an amazing job with that.

oh sorry i misunderstood thinking this was your first cruise:o

Yes im looking forward to relaxing in the Jacuzzi by the window in the cabin. that's a nice feature.

They should probably advertise the Haven for a more family friendly Haven experience. Not for cruisers looking to get a nice quiet relaxing getaway.

  10. Since you are mentally prepared for it, you'll enjoy it. I was caught off guard and didn't adjust during the cruise to it completely. We still had a nice time, but it was the first cruise I've ever been on, and we were in the Haven mind you, where my wife and I were both basically "Eh, I'm just looking forward to getting off the ship tomorrow and going home."

The issue with kids is so bad that the concierge obviously felt the need to at least make the sun deck portion adults only as posted above. The Haven is full of 2 bedroom suites, and loaded with kids and families. It's not at all what NCL sells it as and is insulting considering the price tag.

Totally agree. So sorry this was a a disappointment especially being your 1st cruise.

Try Royal Caribbean. They're amazing!! We wanted to try a new line and really liked the Breakaway. So we decided to splurge and get a Haven cabin. Well like you said i'm mentally prepared LOL

  11. I wish more people would talk about this. It's a real issue. People pay a lot of money for a Shang Ri La retreat per the advertising, and get a kindergarten instead. The Haven is a family area, which is the opposite of what people expect when booking suites like this.

That's certainly the impression i got when i went to book.. I'm sure it will still be an amazing time. Cant wait until July 1st. Not to long now:D

  12. I did too, but a few months ago,its not that "friendly" is it?

    Marion

I was really put a back by some of the organizers of one of groups for our July 1st cruise. Got a very snarky answer.

They think who they are and get a swelled head.

Will not be looking at that page anymore as well

    Liz:)

  13. Oh Well

Being our first time in the Haven and probably our last. i will try to go with the flow. But it looks like that area of the Haven will not be so Haven.:(

And i really hate to spend the extra on the Vibe:eek:

But like I said we have a Haven Spa cabin so i guess we'll be in there

    Liz:D

  14. Liz

The class is scheduled to run 1 hour. I have seen them run up to 1 hour 20 min if the instructor gets too chatty.

We have done it on the Breakaway, Eacape, and most recently on the Bliss (where they sold out 4 sessions with a long stand by list).

Where do you sign up for the class? and being in the Haven should i let the concierge know we're interested?

I tried posting a pic of the daily but they either came out waaaay too big so i resized and copy and pasted and it never showed up:eek: but i promise you it is at 7pm Bermuda days;p

    Thanks

    Liz:D

  15. Don't get me wrong i love kids have kids adult now.

But if these children are running amok without their parents supervising i will say something. It can be very dangerous too. Ive seen parents actually turn their backs while their kids are in the pool. Unbelievable!!

Yes, we paid a lot of money and do realize this allows families but if i see a child with a swim diaper i will not be happy nor my husband. and you don't want to get him upset;p LOL

Hopefully, the July 1st sailing will be ok as far as kids using the Jacuzzi and such .

We do have a Haven Spa cabin so i guess well be able to use that in some relaxing way.

There should be a space where adults can go to relax~~ so i see no harm with that sign 16+

    Liz:D

  16. My wife and I have done this a few times on various ships. It's usually scheduled on sea days somewhere in the 10am-noon time frame. Never saw one scheduled at night, since they usually do it in bar venues (fat cats, maltings, etc. depending on the ship).

The class is probably about an hour or so. It varies on how "hard" the painting is and how many people are in the class. But an hour on average sounds about right.

    Thank you:D

My neighbor just got back Sunday with the dailies papers and low and behold its printed at 7PM. And no less its at the 5'oclock bar:D How can they set up in a Bar?? LOL Plus its

held when we're in Bermuda Wednesday Thursday and Friday:(

We were on the Breakaway last summer and it was at 5pm. But we never made it.

Hopefully this is a misprint and will chk once we're onboard in 12 days:D

We did do this in Disney and we laughed so hard we had a great time. Were not artists at all but it was so much fun.

    Thank you

    Liz
